FIFA has launched the invitation to tender for media rights to the 2030 World Cup in the United States and Puerto Rico, with an option for interested parties to also secure the 2034 World Cup, it was announced on Thursday.

According to a FIFA press release, following the record-breaking 2026 World Cup, the tender offers broadcasters and streaming platforms a unique and unrivalled opportunity to become the home of the world’s biggest sporting event in the world’s biggest sporting market.

Over 39 days and 104 matches, the tournament averaged 13.5 million viewers per match on linear and streaming platforms, up 166% on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Every U.S. men’s national team match drew more than 20 million viewers, while the final attracted an average of 63 million, making it the most-watched soccer match in U.S. history. FOX Sports televised the matches.

“The FIFA World Cup 2026 belonged to the fans. They turned every match into a celebration of football and culture, and the atmosphere in the stadiums extended to millions of households across the United States,” FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafstrom said in a statement

“The next two FIFA World Cups will build on that momentum. We are looking for a partner who shares our commitment to innovation, who can bring every moment of the action to fans wherever and however they choose to watch, and who is committed to the next phase of football’s growth in North America.”

The 2030 World Cup will be hosted in Morocco, Portugal and Spain, with three centenary celebration matches in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, marking 100 years since the first FIFA World Cup was played in 1930. Saudi Arabia will stage the 2034 World Cup.

The tender process will allow FIFA to select the entity, or entities, best placed to deliver comprehensive, high-quality coverage in the United States and Puerto Rico, reach large audiences through innovative ways to watch, and contribute revenues for the benefit of football.

Entities wishing to participate in the tender process can request the relevant ITT by emailing [email protected]. The bid submission deadline is Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026 at noon ET.

Through the sale of media rights for its football tournaments, FIFA generates income which is essential to support and develop football around the world, including through the FIFA Forward Development Programme.
