LAS VEGAS – Kansas women’s golf will conclude its’ fall slate at the Clash at Boulder Creek, hosted by Northern Arizona. The Jayhawks will compete across three days from Oct. 25-27 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
“We are very excited to compete in Las Vegas, as this will be a great opportunity for us to compete where we will hold the conference championship this spring,” Kansas head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. “I haven’t been to this course, but I have heard that scores can be low if the wind is down and we feel like with this group of five we have the opportunity to post some low scores. We are a very long hitting team and a solid ball striking team that has a lot of birdie opportunities, which I think is needed on this course.”
Kuhle added, “If we can continue to have confidence in our putting and wedges like we had last week and we have worked on this week, I feel like we will play well and have an opportunity to play for a championship this week, which is exciting.”
The 20-team field is hosted by Northern Arizona, with Kansas being joined by UNLV, Weber State, New Mexico State, California State Bakersfield, South Dakota State, San Francisco, Wofford, Houston, Drake, UTEP, Southern Utah, Boise State, California Baptist, Utah Tech, North Dakota State, Tarleton State, Utah Valley and Fresno State.
Kansas will sport the same five golfers that competed in the PlayForHer Stanford Intercollegiate, Oct. 16-18, in Stanford, California.
“We are going with the same five as we have all fall season and really feel like these five players have been contributing and playing great golf to help our team consistently this fall,” Kuhle said. “We have a lot of depth on this team and we have players that have shot 65, 66, 67, 68, and 69 this fall season with this lineup and we feel like we can go low.”
Freshman Hannah Hall led Kansas last time out, shooting a 214 (+1) to finish tied for 16th at the PlayForHer Stanford Intercollegiate. Hall scored a four-under 67 to open the weekend, enough to give her the lowest score of all Jayhawks.
Behind Hall was senior Lyla Louderbaugh, who tallied a 217 (+4) and finished alone in 29th. Like Hall, Louderbaugh went low in the first round and carded a one-under 70.
One stroke back of Louderbaugh was junior Ebba Nordstedt at 218 (+5). Nordstedt wrapped up the weekend tied for 30th, carding nine birdies across her three rounds.
Fifth year Anna Wallin (220, +7) and sophomore Kinslea Jones (223, +10) each finished in the top 50, wrapping up the event in ties for 38th and 47th, respectively.
