Sean Crocker stood at the turn Sunday in Korea with a trip to Q-School likely in his future. Nine holes later, he walked off the final green with his DP World Tour card for 2027.

Crocker began the final round of the Genesis Championship at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club literally on the bubble at 100th place on the Race to Dubai Rankings, the last spot that carries full status into next season. Three bogeys on the front nine resulted in a 3-over 39 that dropped him outside the number at the turn.

He birdied 10 and 11 to get back into the conversation. After a string of pars, he caught fire and finished with four straight birdies to close in 29 for a 3-under 68.

Crocker finished in a clutch manner. He holed a big putt at 17 for birdie. Then, at the last, he snuggled a long, downhill chip shot to within a foot. When he marked his ball, he put his hands on his head in relief after what had been months of pressure knowing his playing status was on the line.

Crocker’s round left him in a tie for 34th place at 4 under which was just enough for him stay at 100th on the points list.

“That was probably one of the better back nines I’ve ever played with circumstances and everything going on there,” Crocker told the DP World Tour.

Crocker admitted his thoughts at the turn were about home. Falling outside the top 100 would have left him weighing a trip to Q-School, a grueling stretch he described as “12 weeks on the trot.” He said he has already gone several weeks without seeing his wife, Isabella, and their young son, Cruz.

“I just really wanted to give it every chance I could to be able to spend a little time at home to be a dad and a husband,” he said.

The 30-year-old was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, and moved to California at 5 after his family lost its farm during political unrest. His father, Gary, played in Zimbabwe’s first Test cricket side. Crocker played college golf at USC and reached the semifinals of the 2015 U.S. Amateur, where he lost to Bryson DeChambeau.

He earned his stripes through the Challenge Tour in 2018 and broke through at the DP World Tour’s 2022 Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews, a win that followed eight missed cuts in his first nine starts that season. He finished 77th in the Race to Dubai rankings last year.

Crocker’s entire 2026 season came down to one back nine. In those last nine holes, he played his best golf of the week when it mattered most.
