  • October 28, 2026

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (KCTV) – Several Kansas City area high school products are part of this year’s World Series.

On Tuesday night, one of them set a Major League Baseball playoff record.

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Aaron Ashby, a graduate of Park Hill High School in Kansas City, Missouri, pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning, setting an MLB record for the most consecutive scoreless innings by a reliever to open a playoffs in postseason history.

Ashby, a 28-year-old left-handed pitcher who was drafted in the 4th round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, reached 16.2 innings of scoreless relief to set the record.

He did it Tuesday night in Game 4 of the 2026 World Series, with Milwaukee leading the series 3-0 and the Brewers on the verge of their first World Series title in franchise history. It was Ashby’s ninth appearance of the 2026 playoffs. In eight of them, the Kansas City native pitched more than an inning.

Ashby returned to the mound to get all three outs in the bottom of the 10th inning and another out to begin the bottom of the 11th inning in a tied 2-2 Game 4, extending his scoreless innings record to 18.0 innings when he was done Tuesday.

Ashby’s teammate, Brewers ace pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, is a Grain Valley alum and started Game 1 of the series for Milwaukee.
