SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Post Malone will headline a New Year’s Eve concert at the Delta Center, capping off a historic night of professional hockey as Salt Lake prepares to host the NHL Winter Classic for the first time.
Smith Entertainment Group announced the concert as part of a four-day sports and entertainment celebration called Winter Weekend, featuring two Utah Jazz games, two Utah Mammoth games and performances by Post Malone and electronic music star Alesso.
The festivities will center around the Dec. 31 matchup between the Mammoth and Colorado Avalanche at Rice-Eccles Stadium, marking the first outdoor NHL game played in Utah.
The game will begin at 4 p.m., with the celebration shifting downtown afterward for the concert at the Delta Center. Post Malone will headline the event, with Alesso closing out the night.
The announcement marked another major Utah performance for Post Malone, who has established strong ties to the state and performed at Rice-Eccles Stadium in July 2026. The artist also performed at the stadium in April 2025.
The New Year’s Eve concert will be part of a larger effort by SEG to attract visitors to Salt Lake City through major sporting events and entertainment.
The company, which owns both the Jazz and Mammoth, has been working with Salt Lake City on plans for a downtown sports and entertainment district surrounding the Delta Center. The proposed redevelopment has included new entertainment venues, public spaces and improvements intended to draw more visitors downtown.

The Winter Weekend announcement offered another example of how SEG plans to use its two professional sports franchises and the Delta Center to bring major events to the city.
Ryan Smith, chairman and CEO of SEG, said the goal was to establish Salt Lake City as a destination for major celebrations.
“We’re bringing four days of sports and entertainment together to create something special for Utahns and give fans from across the country a reason to make Utah their New Year’s Eve destination,” Smith said.
The NHL previously announced that the Mammoth would host the Avalanche in the 2027 Winter Classic, with both franchises making their first appearance in the league’s annual outdoor showcase.
The four-day schedule will also include three additional professional sporting events at the Delta Center:
Dec. 30: Utah Jazz vs. New York Knicks
Dec. 31: Utah Mammoth vs. Colorado Avalanche at Rice-Eccles Stadium, followed by the Post Malone and Alesso concert at the Delta Center
Jan. 1: Utah Jazz vs. Boston Celtics
Jan. 2: Utah Mammoth vs. Vancouver Canucks
SEG also announced youth hockey activities at the Select Health Ice Center, including a Gretzky Hockey School camp from Dec. 27-30 and a youth hockey tournament beginning Jan. 1.
For fans interested in the New Year’s Eve concert, more than 6,000 tickets will be priced below $125, according to SEG.
Presale registration has opened at utahwinterweekend.com, with presale tickets becoming available Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. General ticket sales will begin Oct. 30 at 10 a.m.
Additional events and activities are expected to be announced ahead of the celebration.
