The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team will be searching for a first in coach Felisha Legette-Jack’s tenure: back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. With the start of the year almost here, it appears the Orange will at least be in the conversation.

Syracuse will enter the 2026-27 season projected as an 11-seed for the 2027 NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN’s latest bracketology update from Charlie Creme, which was released Tuesday.

Syracuse is one of 10 ACC teams projected to make the 2027 field, which will now include 76 teams instead of 68. The rest of the list includes Duke (one-seed), Louisville (two-seed), North Carolina (three-seed), Notre Dame (four-seed), NC State (seven-seed), Virginia Tech (eight-seed), Clemson (eight-seed), Virginia (10-seed), and California (12-seed).

Here’s the full breakdown of the ACC squads:

The ACC is in a three-way tie with the SEC and Big 12 for most projected bids, per Creme. The Big Ten leads all conferences with 13. Nine ACC teams, including Syracuse, make the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

The Orange will play nine of their 18-game conference schedule against opponents projected to make the tournament, according to this latest bracketology. Syracuse’s full 2026-27 schedule includes two other projected tournament teams: Oklahoma (six-seed) at home and Southern (16-seed) in Puerto Rico.

Syracuse has reached the NCAA Tournament twice in four years (2024 and 2026) during Legette-Jack’s tenure with the Orange. Syracuse last earned consecutive trips to the Big Dance in 2018 and 2019.

The Orange will begin their quest to reach the postseason on Tuesday at home against Sacred Heart.
