An indoor golf simulator and recreational training facility is proposed for the space that previously housed Peter Rubi grocery store on Illinois Route 59 in Plainfield.
PB&J Golf Group is seeking a special use permit to open an indoor golf simulator facility at 15412 S. Illinois Route 59. The space is north of the Route 59 and Fort Beggs Drive intersection in the Plainfield Plaza shopping center.
The Plainfield Plan Commission will review the proposal at its meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at Plainfield Village Hall, 24401 Lockport St., Plainfield.
The proposed 3,000-5,000 square foot facility would have between three and four simulator bays, customer seating and advanced putting technology.
The facility would be part of the Back Nine franchise that has locations in North Aurora, Naperville and Crystal Lake.
Members would have 24/7 access to the facility, which would be electronically monitored with QR code phone access and security cameras.
The proposed use would be considered a private recreation facility, which requires a special use permit in a business district. Village staff has recommended approval of the plans.
No outdoor recreation areas, outdoor amplified sound or exterior recreational lighting are part of the proposed development.
Plans are to open the facility by the end of January.
