Competition details
A remarkable total of 189 FIFA Member Associations were represented at the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026, with 34 participating Concacaf national teams.
The inaugural edition of the FIFA U-15 World Cup featured an innovative 8v8 format with two 20-minute halves. Nearly 1,000 matches were played, with tournament infrastructure enabling 20 simultaneous fixtures to be played across multiple pitches, each of which will stage up to 10 matches per day.
The tournament was played in two stages: the Qualification Stage and the Tournament Stage. The results from the round-robin Qualification Stage determined which tier teams competed in during the Tournament Stage.
Qualification stage: Four to five matches in a round-robin format.
Tournament stage: Four to five additional matches per team, determined by results and subsequent tier placement.
For the Qualification Stage, teams were divided into 32 groups, with each team playing others in its group once. No team was eliminated: each team’s final position in the group determined which tier it entered in the tournament stage. Groups I, V, and AA contained five teams each, all other groups contained six teams.
Group leaders advanced to Tier A, second place entered Tier B, third place entered Tier C, fourth place entered Tier D, fifth place entered Tier E, sixth place entered Tier F.
The Tournament Stage consisted of six performance tiers, based on qualification-stage results. Every team played through to the final matchday, ensuring a consistent and meaningful competitive experience for all participants. The winners of each tier were crowned, and the team that came out on top in Tier A (Spain) was honored as FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival champion.
