(I mean, it should count for the MVP, but it rarely does: Nash, a historically bad defensive PG and definitely the worst defensive starting PG of his generation, and Jokic, basically the James Harden of centers, combined for four MVPs.) Jokic and Luka have to be 4 and 5. Curry plays enough D to be better than them even if you think he’s the worst offensive player of the three (which is of course ridiculous). I think the best player next year will be Giannis or Steph and the third best player will be Embiid. At least if I’m picking among this group. I wouldn’t count out Kawahi from being at the top.
Steph will never be the #1 rated player by the majority because he’s not physically imposing. It just doesn’t make sense to the causal fan’s brain. For some reason skill is never rated as highly as natural athletic ability in any sport by average fans.
