It’s the only option BoMel had that early in the game. I can understand Nick going another inning, but it just didn’t work. Clevenger not even getting an out, let alone though 1 inning was a back breaker.
Clevinger starting was the right move, and Bob pulled him when he had to, but he totally fumbled using Manaea. He should have been out after walking Schwarber.

I don’t understand why he took Martinez out. He faced nine batters and got them all out. I mean, he was a starter, so it’s not like he couldn’t go more than 9 batters…. but Bob Melvin has won the Manager of the Year three times, and I haven’t won it once (yet), so I trust his judgment.
