We do not need sweeps or unrealistic winning streaks: Day 11
Before anyone shrieks at me, I’m not advocating for losing. But the reality is, we don’t actually even need to win every series. We can afford to lose a couple here and there.
Since the losing streak, we are 16-13, which means we’ve been playing .552 ball. If my calculations are correct, if we keep up that pace for the rest of the year, we would end the year with an 81-81 record. Looking at our division, that may be enough to win the division.
This has us 6 games under .500 at the all star break.

I had a dream last night where I went back to Philadelphia to live in an old dusty Victorian apartment and I was watching the Sox play the Dodgers in the World Series.
And I remember thinking to myself how much anguish I went through, the 80-82 record, the farcical division win, all the heartache. And then I realized we were up 8-1 in the 6th inning of Game 7 and I laughed to myself how little all the pain mattered in the end, and how it was all part of the journey.
And then I got attacked by a giant rat. But I am heading back to Philly for another year and I am moving into a Victorian apartment. So take from this what you will. I have seen it in my dreams.
