First loss of the season where I’m not mad and just accepting we’re a not a good team
For the price of Donaldson and Rizzo, the Yankees could of had Freeman and Urshela (both of whom are hitting over .300 which this team desperately needs) with money left over.
Yeah, we’re definitely playing the Astros in the wildcard game.
If they can’t hit this red Sox staff, how in the world are they going to hit Verlander and Scherzer?!
The most interesting race this year may be who finishes with the MLB-worst OBP.
Volpe and Javy Báez battling it out!
Stanton only got 7 at bats all series ? Can someone please help me understand why
In the name of “payroll flexibility” and luxury tax shenanigans, here are examples of the players the Yankees passed on recently in free agency who would have made them a much better team while barely increasing payroll (because they spent that money anyways to fill those holes year after year):
* Bryce Harper
* Manny Machado
* Carlos Correa
* Freddie Freeman
Here are examples of players the Yankees had on short-term deals over that same stretch to try to replace the production they could have gotten from the above players:
* Brett Gardner
* Edwin Encarnacion
* Anthony Rizzo
* Joey Gallo
* Josh Donaldson
* Isiah Kiner-Falefa
Billy McKinney, Greg Allen, Ben Rortvedt, Jake Bauers, and Harrison Bader all have higher OPSs then anybody on this team except Judge.
It’s just remarkable how bad our every day starters are this year.
Kinda agree with this take.. you wanna trade Torres because you’re frustrated with his continuous brain farts that’s fine. But he’s one of few league average hitters in the lineup. This roster is constructed so poorly that losing him would actually make us worse despite that.
My hope is Peraza gets his shot, Volpe gets sent down to work on some things and when he figures it out in AAA then we can have the discussion of moving Gleyber.
Four hitters currently have a wRC+ over 100 (min. 100PA)
Judge: 189
Rizzo: 124 (1-29 in June)
Torres: 114
Calhoun 105
The 2022 Yankees had seven players over the 100 wRC+ mark (min. 100PA) on June 11, 2022. If the season were to end *today,* the 100 wRC+ they have posted as a team would rank #28 in the last 30 seasons, sandwiched in-between the 2021 and 2014 teams.
Brian Cashman is easily the worst GM in the sport and his protégé, Billy Eppler, is probably a close second. This fucking clown will somehow get a plaque in Monument Park when its all said and done.
Rizzo is 1-30 since returning..that’s really fucking bad
At least in a week from now we get to hear Perez throat graft together again
So ph Stanton is different then ph 4 times as the dh, just asking how?
Wade Boggs a key cog in the yankee turnaround in the mid 90’s and eventually the 96 champs would no longer fit on this yankee roster because he only hit .315 but didnt hit homers..that’s no longer tolerated in yankee land..
Our pitching was solid.. This O without judge and Stanton mashing is anemic
Mentioned this stat in the game thread but should be repeated..yanks have allowed the opponents starter complete 7 innings 18 times league worst in mlb and even 3 more times then the A’s..any offensive stat worse then the A’s says a lot
This team is mid. Still time for players to turn it around but the youth movement looks stalled. Vets can’t stay in the field. They almost have to trade German and Torres w/Peraza and Jasson to get something of value to fix this lineup it’s terrible this team can’t hit. Should have pried Arraez away from Twins before they flipped him to Miami.
I genuinely don’t understand the point of having Stanton on this team if we’re not going to put him in the fucking lineup. Someone in the front office please read that, but slowly. He’s gonna get injured, at least win a couple games while you can.
280 million dollar payroll and we went into the season with a rookie short stop, which would be fine if we also didn’t go into the season with no left fielder, no 3rd baseman and a defense first catcher. That’s potentially 4 well below average hitters before accounting for injuries (duh) and players falling off.
Team is only getting older and next year is most likely a punt year to get under the cap. 2025 Judge will be 33, Cole 34, Stanton 35, DJ 36 and probably unplayable while being owed 30 million.
Take a bow Brian Cashman
Best part about commenting here is that I am meeting a lot of nice young ladies that want to follow me. I think they are part of a club called only fans. Go Yanks!!!
Are we going dark? Anyone know?
What’s the point of giving a struggling volpe the night off if you’re just gonna put him in high leverage situations late in the game? If you’re going to give the kid a day give the kid the day
When 1 thing happens, you brush it off. When 2 things happen, it’s coincidence. When 3 things happen, you have a trend. Could be a good trend, it could be a bad trend.
Right now, the hitting is in a bad trend.
3 hits in 10 innings against the Red Sox.
Absolutely pathetic.
Hopefully it sinks in to this embarrassment of a front office that the Yankees have just a 1 game lead on a playoff spot right now and already have almost lost their chance to catch Tampa for the AL East title.
If Judge is out much longer and these guys continue to sleepwalk through series against mediocre teams, they might legitimately fall out of a playoff spot and have an uphill battle just to get back into it absent a long winning streak.
It’s hard to win a lot of games in a row though when you have no lineup depth, you built an injury prone starting rotation that can’t stay on the field, and you have the worst in-game manager in baseball.
The Yanks have scored 3 runs or less in 5 of our last 6 games.
Unsurprisingly, the Yanks have gone 2-4 in those games.
INWYW
This season reminds me of 2021. Record is better but lots of solo homers and low scoring snoozefests
Keep in mind Stanton sat tonight with a day off tomorrow and thursday, and not mention had Donaldson in the lineup, who can’t hit but can field but played him at dh
3 hits? 3 god damn hits?
Gleyber should have been pulled from the game tonight, and Boone of course defended gleyber..sometimes even in a loss, you lose the battle but win the war, maybe showing some toughness and not tolerate that laziness would have sent a much needed message to the whole team
This entire rotation is pitching great every fucking night and this offense is doing absolutely jack shit.
Cashman is good at drafting and garbage at everything else. We need someone who can actually make good free agency moves. This offense is pathetic
If Oswald Peraza grew up in an upper middle class suburban area of NJ with rich doctor parents he’d be up here right now
Remember after we signed rodon Cashman said were not done? We’re still fuckin waiting lol
