[Jomboy] As planned, A’s fans were standing and silent during the first batter of the fifth inning . They then broke into “sell the team” chants so loud that the pitcher thought his earpiece was broken

  1. Proud of all the fans that made it out and made it possible. This is the only A’s game I’ve watched this season

  2. I wish I was there right now… I’m going tomorrow, hope it’s at least a bit like this

  3. Awesome. Has the broadcast explicitly talked about the boycott or the SELL, or are they pretending it doesn’t exist

  4. Too bad the move is all but official now. Thanks to those two asswipes and the Nevada legislature.

  5. Had to be 15000 Green Sell T Shirts there. John Fisher ought to be removed from MLB ownership and Rob Manfred fired.

  6. This is precisely when my voice cracked and I was done for the night yelling

  7. In Haneda airport, watching last two innings; sporting my A’s hat. Bittersweet day. Out of country, would have loved to be there. We get the ‘W’ but NV passed the bill. Rollercoaster of emotions. A’s fans are the greatest!

  8. I loved the idea of a silent at-bat, but didn’t think word would travel through the coliseum fast enough to make it happen. Was ecstatic when I was watching and heard how silent it was!

It was great seeing the guy from the third row telling/asking the Rays fans in the front to stand. Also, respect to the Rays fans for doing it and switching to SELL shirts later in the game!

  9. Lifelong A’s fan here who has lived in NC longer by orders of magnitude than I ever lived in the Bay Area. Thank you. I teared up a little watching this. Felt like the last little bit of my childhood I can still access standing up for itself. Whatever happens, I’ll remember this forever.

  10. Was such an amazing experience. Thanks fellow Oakland fans! And thanks to the organizers. I will cherish my sell shirt!

  11. This gives me goosebumps! .. fisher and Kaval are assholes ..they should be banned from baseball along with Manfred the brownoser

  12. This was the first game I watched this season, I got emotional when I heard ‘Celebration’ playing in the background. A’s fans deserve better.

  13. FFS Manfred, look at this and think about what you want to have written on the HoF plaque you’ll inevitably get one day because it’s basically a door prize for every commissioner. Sure, the pitch clock is a good start, but getting Fisher in line would be something.

  14. Fan protests were a big reason the league stepped in and forced the McCourts to sell the Dodgers

  15. I’ve always loved this game. My life circumstances dictated that I didn’t learn to play it, myself. But I fell in love with it, around ‘81? When cable TV became a thing. I was fed a steady diet of cubs and braves. Then I moved to the Bay Area, and the A’s radio broadcasts at night were entertaining, and comforting. Even though I’ve moved on to another team, the A’s will always be special to me. This video brought tears to my eyes. Baseball used to be so accessible, more than any other sport. It brought people together. Go to the ballpark with your friends, your family, your kids. Enjoy the setting, the gorgeous field, the sun the hotdogs, peanuts. The guarantee that, if you paid attention, you’d see something new.

Seeing this fan turnout, the emotion, the passion. It just fucking kills me, that this sport has devolved to a fucking investment, a mechanism to help billionaires become richer.

    I miss the old days.

Good luck, A’s fans. I hope you find a way to deal, and to heal.

  16. It’s neat but why did they decide to do that when their own pitcher was on the mound?

  17. Wish I could have been there, but a trip back home for a Tuesday game wasn’t in the cards. The first and last game I’ll watch this season. Incredible atmosphere that came right through the TV and was augmented by videos and photos from friends.

I thought that Braden did a pretty good job of alluding to what was going on without outright saying it (for obvious reasons), even though it seemed like he wanted to, and kind of confirmed in his [tweet after the game](https://twitter.com/DALLASBRADEN209/status/1668836806941642752).
