Turns out baseball is like any other job. It’s really hard to perform when you feel like your organization is unstable and the other shoe could drop at any minute. It’s hard to relax and just work/play when you don’t think your employer has your back and you are getting mixed signals from those in leadership.
This team really messed up the dh situation. They shoulda given one guy a shot for 3-4 months instead of a platoon.
Even still now with vogey in a season that’s going nowhere it would be better to get some of the young guys (vientos/Mauricio) consistent at bats. The. To give them to a guy who can only hit righties in a lost season
The Mets completely squandered JD last year and the DH situation in general. Whether you like the idea of a platoon DH or not, it’s not debatable that the Mets haven’t made it work. At best they get one half of it working and not the other, but nothing has been consistent.
Dude was in a platoon. That was incredibly clear to everyone. If he couldn’t figure out which games he was going to start and which games he wasn’t I’m concerned.
Maybe they should stop letting the computer set the lineup and let the manager manage from experience.
He was def mismanaged… however it wasn’t entirely the Mets fault. He also made the decision to play through a torn wrist ligament injury, which lowered his level of play tremendously. Players need to do what’s best for the team, not themselves
Why can’t anyone speak up while they’re here and have the front office make a difference? Instead they pussy out and wait until the have a safe space in San Francisco.
Yep. I believe most of us don’t know what we’re talking about no matter how much we think we do, but the frequent bizarre lineup changes clearly aren’t working and I HAVE to conclude that it’s time to stop trying them.
Makes sense. Look at the NBA for example. Who are the most successful teams/regimes in the last 3 decades? Golden State, they have kept the same core and head coach for 10 years. San Antonio, same core and head coach for 10 years. Lakers, Bulls, etc. look the the nuggets they’ve had Malone, Jokic, Jamal, for 7+ years.
I understand basketball and baseball are different but I really understand what Cohen meant the other day about staying the course and not being reactionary.
Seeing that first half triple slash from last year I’m surprised we traded him to begin with. Felt bad when we did it and has aged like milk since
