Because doomers don’t look at the standings
In an alternate universe where basically half of our starting line-up wasn’t injured and we managed to flip a handful of the close/should’ve won games, I can see us being right behind the Astros if not better. Luck never seems to be on this team’s side when it comes to injuries but we’ve been doing better than the last few season despite everything. The schedule after the deadline is rough but a few good buys and guys coming off the IL would keep us in contention.
Yankees are falling off so we’ll probably pass them soon. Upcoming Blue Jays Series is crucial as hell
I mean it’s all in our hands. With a brutal August we may fall out the race or put ourselves in the drivers seat considering we face many teams ahead of us in standings.
It’s not an exaggeration to say the blue jays series determines our season (obviously, we have to take care of business in detroit too)
Lose the blue jays series and it becomes a borderline impossible task to make the playoffs. Win the series and we have as good a chance as anyone
