  1. We all need to start taking what athletes say with a grain of salt, it’s always going to come down to money.

  2. There’s no period at the end though. Lol

…franchise *comma pause for effect* unless [insert reason].

  3. C’mon, CJ — you’re loyal to the Mean Green and not the Chiefs — tell the truth

  4. Gives him an easy excuse for blaming the franchise when the contract negotiations fall apart

  5. I feel like they have a deal worked out and he just asked to wait until camp is over lol

  6. Players do this to gain support from the fans hoping it influences management. I hope he returns on a new contract, but I am doubtful. The Houston and Berry are mistakes are still on my mind, so I imagine they remember as well.

  7. It sounds like it’s progressing. A journalist on McAfee’s show today said she talked to somebody in the building with knowledge of the negotiations and the opinion is that they’re optimistic that the deal gets done.

Obviously it could still go off track before it’s done, but I’m glad we’re NOT hearing phrases like the dreaded “the two sides are still far apart” or “negotiations are at a standstill.”

  8. At what point does Mahomes call CJ and say, “remember how I called you after my contract and told you, “I left some money on the table for you’? It’s time for you to pay that forward for L’Jarius, man.”

  9. How many people would leave their job for more money? He has a limited time to make that money. I think he wants to stay a chief but training camp is a risk to injure yourself. I suspect it will get done soon.

  10. I don’t want to give an Albert Haynesworth time of contract. I love him but he has to understand the cap cost era…

  11. Kick the can down the road. Give him what he wants. It will get you through this season. If it proves to be a financial burden, there’s a high chance they could trade him.

You can’t mortgage the future for one player (unless it’s Mahomes). Players need to realize this. They can still make more than 95% of the people in the US, leave some money on the table and still win games. It’s greed.
