I know it’s easy to rag on Sevy right now, but prime Sevy will be missed. It’s a shame all the injuries and he’s never been able to find the same success and now the team throws him out to the wolves every 5 days. Phantom IL him idk do something he can’t pitch again

  1. Injuries.

But the team is doing him no favors right now. He needs to be a phantom IP with a pitching coach fixing his mechanics

  2. Seems to be talking about the fact that said he was doing good when he was using the sticky stuff and has never really got it together since he got in trouble for that.

  3. His rebound season with the Dodgers next season is going to be crazy to experience.

  4. His follow through this year and last year when he came back from injury is different, it’s like he’s trying to aim it and it’s awkward not flowing like it used to be.

I wonder if they had him alter it to try and avoid injury again going forward

  5. I said it once and I’ll say it again, this dude died when they stopped airing his Wantagh Mazda commercial. RIP

  6. The stuff seems fine. Wouldn’t be shocked if a change in mechanics and scenery gets him back on track. Still only 29. At this point how the Yankees haven’t DFA’d yet is baffling. He’s toast for this season.

  7. Is he having a problem with pacing/approach/routine from the pitch clock? Fuck if I know but it’s the only thing I keep coming back to.

  8. Not even just Prime Sevy will be missed, I’d be thrilled with 2021 Bullpen Sevy or 2022 #3 starter Sevy or even last second inury recovering 2019 playoff roster Sevy

  9. He replaced Phil Hughes as the homegrown pitcher I was clinging to eventually becoming an ace or really good #2. And like Hughes, I have to accept that he’s toast as a Yankee 🙁

  10. I still stay he’s hiding an injury. I’d hate to think this is another Knoblauch situation.

  11. Bummer of a situation. His early years were a fun ride; I hope he figures it out (and he probably will, but with a different org).

  12. I don’t know what is wrong with him and nobody here does either. I do know that he should not be on the roster. Give him a start or two in Sept after we are eliminated to see if he has anything left. If not goodbye.

  13. I refuse to believe any Yankees starter is cooked until I see it happen in a different uniform.

  14. Yknow. As outlandish as it sounds, I wonder if it aint 100% Sevy thing, but also a catcher thing.

I played catcher since I was 8 all the way up to the Arizona Fall League and low A when I flamed out.

I really dont think some people have an idea of how much on the same page you need to be with everyone, and with the pitch clock, he cant afford to sit there and shake off a slider 2-3 times. Everything needs to work now.

Im curious if they turned their attention to Higgy, Jose, and Rort at some point to just have the “Hey man, forget the scouting. Let me handle it, just go out there and play catch with me for an hour.” Talk.

Every time like Cone pointed out at “Aiming” pitches, usually 9 times out 10 (from personal experience I guess) stems from a scouting report saying “Locate here for player X”

  15. He’s no dummy, molding himself into a Cashman special…hitting 30 soon, good stuff, no results. He just need a good injury and Cashman will be salivating. 5 year deal I would think. He’s consulting with Rodon on just how to do it.

  16. I miss sevy so much man it’s unbelievable

Also, dude’s a burner. I legit thought that the bunt clip was on 1.25x or something

  17. Man that’s sad to see. I remember after the 2017 season, reading the fangraph trade value post and seeing Judge at 3, Sevy at 10, and Gary at like 12, and thinking we were set for a long time. Just goes to show how quickly things can change.

  18. I would bet he has an injury he didn’t disclose because hes too prideful & he hates going for rehab assignments in the minors.

His stuff is down, and he’s hanging pitches.

Its getting late quick, he needs to call his mentor Pedro and work it out, take a phantom il or something.

  19. This is what happens when you work for someone with mediocore managment that doesn’t care. After a while they start to rub off on you.
