The Heat has left open the possibility of converting Cain to a standard deal, per source. Lot will depend on what they send out and get back for Lillard once Portland faces the hard, cold, grave truth of reality.

Barry’s just like us fr, sick of this shit lol
Barry just read edgar allen poe fr
“Dark Brarry” is my favorite Barry. No typo.
Gotta say, I’m not a fan of how personally (and unprofessionally) Barry Jackson is taking this Dame Lillard situation.
Loved Barry for years, always thought he had the best insights and better sources than any dedicated beat writer for the Heat, Hurricanes, Dolphins, or Marlins.
But shit like this is just a bad look. This trade isn’t close to a done deal, anyone with a shred of objectivity should see that unless Miami can give the “four firsts and two good players” Portland wants they should just hold Dame until the trade deadline, or for the entire season to try again next offseason.
Portland committed a ton of money for three more seasons and a fourth that Dame basically would be crazy to turn down at age 37. He’s signed for the rest of his impactful career and will have to play for whatever team trades for his rights.
A team willing to pay four firsts and two good players will emerge at some point – hopefully it’s Miami.
