I recently got this autographed 1947 NHL All Star Game program from my late grandmother, who lived in Vernon BC at the time.

I am a little confused – it looks like the first official NHL all star game wasn’t until 47-48, and was played in Toronto (with the leafs vs the all stars). I can’t find anything on this game, or why they would be playing in Vernon. Were they doing a cross-country tour?

Autographs included:

Dick Irvin (Sr.)

Bill Durnan

Leo Lamoureux

Toe Blake

Kenny Reardon

Turk Broda

Leo Gravelle

Jimmy Conacher

Jimmy Peters

Pete Horeck

Doug McCaig

Max McNab

Ted Lindsay

Bill Quackenbush

Max Bentley

Grant Warwick

Bob Fillion

Sadly, no Maurice Richard, which probably irked my grandma to no end.

Does anyone have any info on this game?

  1. This is so cool. I’m so sick of all the random player jerseys so this is surprisingly refreshing lol

  2. The fabulous fat man😂

All seriousness, this is pretty cool to see. Plus Bill Quackenbush is an elite name

  3. That is incredible! I love the old school signatures where you can actually read the name

  4. $10 a quart for milk?

And here I thought old nan said it was two pents back in her day

  5. Never thought a game like this would be in Vernon. That would be something if the NHL had the all star game in a place like that in this day and age.

  6. That’s amazing. This arena outlasted all the advertisers and was sadly torn down about 5 years ago.

  7. I personally love the concept of an All-Star team playing against an NHL roster/host city.

    Kinda neat
