  1. The amount of times Larkin leaves Sadak hanging hurts my insides. I love Larkin and will forever but please replace him. Welsh is great with Sadak!

  2. Honestly …. SADAK needs to go too…. Our booth is brutal…

Bring on Cowboy or Welsh with Tommy Thrail ….. that would be an AMAZING BOOTH!!

  3. To be fair, Sadak talks enough for three people. Wish he would shut up from time to time and let the game breathe

  4. Marty had ATOBTTR.
Sadak has “FURIOUS WINDMILL ON”. He’s a try hard. Remember Elly’s first AB when he tried to squeeze in a different story/stat between every pitch?

  5. Larkin has made one astute observation that has stuck with me all year, “make them make a play” m response to our aggressive base running.

But I can’t recall a single other instance where I thought he brought something to the table. Cowboy and Welsh are so much better in the booth and provide really good insight into the working of the Reds organization.

  6. I don’t care for the Larkin hate, but I completely understand where it’s coming from and agree that he could benefit from talking more about the situational parts of the game, especially when Sadak tees him up.

Those of you who hate Sadak just straight up don’t understand how great of an announcer he is. Reds are incredibly lucky to have him.

I’ll give a specific example (pertinent for those who think he “talks too much”): When Votto was in the booth last year and was talking shop with Larkin, we got the best version of Barry Larkin, professional baseball announcer, that we’ve ever had. During this time, Sadak understood exactly what he needed to do, remaining silent for large portions of the discussion and only interjecting at appropriate lulls to keep the conversation active.

Sadak is incredibly talented at being able to work around and with his broadcast partners. He talks a lot with Barry because Larkin often doesn’t play an active role as a commentator. With Welsh and others (Lecure for instance), he’s able to guide the discussion and keep the broadcast entertaining and on-topic.

  7. For decades, Barry was either talking to his fellow baseball players or instructing minor leaguers – people who had actually performing on a baseball field as their job and/or obsession, and who were going to try to turn the words into action.

It feels like Barry started out talking in the sort of shorthand pros use… but I’d hear it as “what the hell is this guy talking about?” when he’d go on for paragraphs about how a pitcher had “tilt” or “needed more tilt” whatever. I’m confident somebody out there could nod and use that to throw the ball better or hit the ball better, but I couldn’t use it for a damn thing watching the game.

I think they told him to stop doing that, and now he doesn’t know WHAT to do. Is Barry’s analyst contract up soon?
