I think it’s a stupid idea, to be honest. Out of the 112 games that McCutchen appeared in this year, he only played outfield in 8 of them, and was a DH/PH in the other 104. He’s a DH at this point in his career, and will and should stay that way.
Uh, this is a terrible idea. He can’t stay healthy just DH’ing, why would anyone think he can start fielding a position? He’s strictly a DH at this point. Put Cruz or Davis at 1st and call it a day.
How about obtaining a real FIRST BASEMAN!!! This organization hasn’t had a true first baseman since Willie Stargell. Just one big rotation of clowns at the position.
Putting McCutcheon at first would be another clown move by this cheap organization. Why not keep a guy like Joe or Rivas out there? It’s not like this team is going to win anytime soon.
That’s a dumb idea. Just have him be the everyday DH. Go out and find an actual 1B.

This is actually one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard. And I’ve heard some pretty stupid takes like that one post saying Skenes should start off as a Reliever lol.
I’d love to see him play the field but he’s a frail 37-year old man. If we played him at 1st base this year the Achilles injury would be the end of his career. I’d rather have a couple years of DH Cutch than one year of 1B Cutch.
