I found this interesting idea on twitter, am I stupid or could this have worked?

  1. I don’t know that I would call this a “smart” move, but it certainly isn’t any less dumb than going for it on 4th & 25.

  2. Unless Detroit scores a TD and goes for 2. Then it’s a 9 point game. I didn’t mind going for it because you are going to have to force a 3 and out anyway, may as well take another chance on offense.

  3. Woulda coulda shoulda, Reid had no plays that would have won this game. No receiver had the “I’m the number 1” attitude. Chances were there but no way they score again. Lions were the better team and hopefully with avoid an 0-2 start next week.

  4. Was the fourth and 25 ball catchable? I didn’t even see who was targeted I feel like it got to their hands, I know it would’ve been a spectacular catch

  5. Not guaranteed if they get the two point conversion. BUT, still not the worst strategic call.

  6. Hear me out….

What the fuck does it matter when your run game is nonexistent and WRs aren’t catching balls? This isn’t last season Chiefs. This scenario only works if you can count on a good drive. We couldn’t in the second half – not even a little bit.

  7. Why the 9? Just put it at the 1 and force them to score immediately. It’s still a one score game and stopping them at the 9 makes the next drive even harder.

  8. I mean yes in hindsight but you’ve got Mahomes with a 4th and 25, he probably gets a first down at least 50% of the time. In this case if our bum-ass receivers had caught the ball it would have been a first down probably in field goal range.

  9. How about just treating 3rd and 25 like it was 2nd and 25 instead of hoping for a miracle? If you knew you were going for it on 4th why not chip away on 3rd down so 4th down is more manageable?

  10. Doesn’t really matter. Who is to say that our next drive would be any more successful than the 4th & 25? Our defense got off the field with a 4th down stop and we got the ball with ample time and decent field position. Starting over from the 25 with a bigger deficit (potentially 9 points) and less time isn’t really a better scenario.

  11. And then with the extra time, the receivers would have had 11 drops instead of 8.. and the outcome would be the same.

  12. I trust mahomes to convert a 4th and 25 (or draw a PI) way more than our defense to hold from 9 yards and then turn around and get a TD with the 40 seconds remaining.

  13. I hope Chris Jones feels proud of himself and justified. Kick rocks bro. Chiefs morals are above your greed. Look at what happened to peters. I LOVE the morals of this organisation. Character/ moral over wins any day #F***Goddel #TermLimitsOnComminssioner [sorry chiefs kingdom I’m flying and not exactly sober lol] #ChiefsKingdom!

Also cmon Toney. (Que ‘Dafuq’ hand)

  14. It *could* have worked, but honestly I think it’s clownish. There’s being smart, and then there’s doing wildly silly looking things for an extremely marginal increase in win probability. I’m glad we went out with more dignity than that.

  15. Not true. Bengals did this 2 years ago. There were like 3 defensive penalties that gave them a fresh set of downs and they milked the clock all the way down and kicked a fg

  16. Kc should have punted out of bounds instead of going for 4th and a mile. Then they would have had 3 time outs, the 2 min warning, and Detroit would have had the ball on the other side of the field.

This would put more pressure on Detroit. Detroit wouldn’t automatically start in field goal range. Meaning they wouldn’t have as many options on 4th down. They could either go for it and close out the game or take 3 points and force the chiefs to need a td instead of just a FG. If they were on the other side and faced with a 4th, they wouldn’t have points as an option and if they fail the 4th conversion, they give the ball back to the chiefs basically in FG range.

  17. This is some highly advanced strategery but I think we also could have won if our receivers just didn’t get their hands surgically replaced with dolphin flippers before the game

  18. They were in panic mode. That entire last series was a cluster fuck. The only player not freaking the fuck out was Mahomes.

  19. Mahomes hit Moore in the hands and he had the yardage to convert the first. Seems like the right decision to go for it 🤷‍♂️

Also it would look really stupid if we do that, Lions score a TD, and convert for 2 pts.
