I don’t think Bill should be in the hot seat, but Eisen is kind of right that the vibes coming off ownership aren’t exactly indicative of “nothing to see here”. The repeated mentions of how long it’s been since the last playoff win, the insistence on having a named OC and the reassurance to fans that changes would be made after the end of last season, the pointed remarks about how he’s never denied Bill money or set a strict budget, the open talk of recent drafts not being good enough, those to me are indications that Bill doesn’t necessarily have free reign or any assurance of remaining at his position for as long as he wants.
Something the “fire BB” group forget is that you are not replacing one role but two, so if Kraft does decide to part ways with BB, he will now need to find both a Head coach and GM, and who knows how the existing coaching staff will take to BBs firing. You might end up having to replace everyone at the assistant level too.
The story at the end about how BB thought the West Coast offense was soft and had all the practice squad DBs hold his receivers in practice when they were going up against a tough secondary was so awesome. Who cares about the hot seat discourse.
Other than Rich being a jets fans I love his show.

Edelman really would be good on his own talk show I feel (I know he has his podcast) especially with his Bill impression. I could listen to it for hours.
I think it’s pretty simple
Belichick is within range of setting the career record for total wins and for regular season wins. He’d need at least 3 good years to set the regular season record and possibly 4.
Both kraft and Belichick want that to happen. You’d be crazy not to.
Both acknowledge that it might not happen. He’s old. How much longer can he do this?
Both also very much want a superbowl. It would be awesome for Belichick to win one as head coach without Brady. He has a ring as a coordinator without Brady, but it would validate his life’s work to say that he didn’t win just because of Brady and Brady didn’t just win because of him. Kraft wants another superbowl too, but not because of Belichick’s record. He’s getting old too and he wants to go out on top too. He wants what we want. He doesn’t want a 9 win team that loses in the first round he wants a winner.
That’s where they differ. I firmly believe Belichick wanted to groom Patricia into the role because they had such a good working relationship and he’d be able to hand off work as he got older and not have to teach a new guy how to implement the Patriot way. That was better for Belichick’s goal of winning 30 more games before he retires but it wasn’t better for krafts goal of winning another title.
If you listen to the comments kraft has made he’s not threatening to fire Belichick this year, he’s telling Belichick in no uncertain terms that he isn’t going to keep him as coach just to win the record he wants to win a title.
That doesn’t mean Belichick is on the hot seat. It means cut the shit bill.
If Bill thinks Mac is the qb to get to a title do that. If he isn’t sure then let’s find out and get the qb who can take us there if needed.
If Bill thinks Hopkins will make us a superbowl contender then spend the money. If we’re better off getting tee Higgins next year then do that.
Our goal isn’t to spend the money or to decide on bill or to win as much as we can with Mac. It’s to set up a window to win one more title. And they’d both very much like to do that together.
I’ve wanted Bill gone for a few years now going into Brady era. His mismanagement of the team is why we are where we are. He absolutely should be, ‘on the hot seat’ imo.
Jules is so good to listen to on any of these shows I catch him on.
I think if anything, Bill the GM should be on the hot seat. Bill the HC coached the corpse of Cam Newton to a 7 win season. I don’t know if Bill would stick around if he was stripped of GM duties but I think it’s a risk you have to take if this season is a bust. Get a guy in the front office who will make aggressive plays to get talented players in the WR and DB room. Make a big offer to a FA left tackle. Do *something* besides the same old thing we’ve tried for 4 years.
This is a dumb hypothetical meant to drum up viewers. There’s ZERO job jeopardy with BB. Kraft has 5-10 years left of life and as a lifelong fan of this team there’s ZERO chance he fires the coach that won us 6 Superbowls.
I’m more confident in this than Asante Samuel’s hands sweating olive oil…which I’m 99% sure of.
Bill will always be a great coach, it’s the drafting poorly that’s killing us
If Bill EVER got fired, every single team in the league would be after his ass. Guy could probably make 5x what he makes now but he doesn’t want to give up Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. I mean dudes a fucking mass native. We grew up right down the road from him in Weston when I was a kid. Guys not leaving unless it’s on his own terms.
