Patriots QB Mac Jones: “They gave me the ball twice to win the game, and I couldn’t do it.” Says he felt like he let the team down.

  1. Other than the pick six he was great. This loss isn’t on him. If Boutte drags his foot on a good throw by Mac we probably win the game

  2. He could’ve placed the ball better on some throws but the receivers didn’t do him any favors at those points as well. A lot of drops on that field today

  3. The whole team has lacked the clutch gene for several seasons, it is not all on him by any means. The Henry phantom call cost us points, coach decision to go for it cost us points (not saying it was the wrong call), Bourne dropped a 3rd and long in the red zone that looked tough but hit him in the chest, Boutte gotta learn to get both feet in… Overall a really promising game, but glad the team isn’t taking any moral victories.

  4. You all did. Those turnovers were brutal, the receivers dropping balls, BUT theres a glimmer of hope

  5. Mac went 35/54 (64.8%) for 316yds with 3 TDs & 1 int, 91.3 rtg, with a patchwork OL, non-existent run game, horrid play calling, a few weak & phantom holding calls, and WRs (excluding Bourne) not doing a god damn thing against one of the best teams in the league. This game is far from his fault…

  6. He’s right this loss is on Mac. Have to be better and throw the ball earlier. Stop giving him a pass folks he’s not a 1st year QB anymore.

  7. No moral victories, we looked like trash out there in the first half, if it wasn’t for our insane defense we wouldn’t have had any chances at all, stop making excuses for this team y’all are weird, we did not play great and that is why we lost, it’s not difficult to understand

  8. To be fair that throw to Kayshon was pretty much perfect. Who knows, maybe we win the game if he gets the foot down. I like the accountability regardless.

  9. Nah dude, he put our team in position to hit a FG from the 17 and for some reason we decided to go for it. And if we hit…maybe we have a shot to take advantage of field position later in the game again. Instead of needing to go for a tough 4th and 10.

We made a lot of dumb dumb dumb plays that cost us dearly, but we also had some terrible playcalls to not go for points that also I feel ended up costing us by putting unnecessary pressure on the offense.

  10. They looked like an offense who didn’t play together all preseason. The OL was patch work all camp. He didn’t play with Boutte in the 1 game he played. They were completely out of sync the 1st Q. Mac was playing like he was sacked 7 times already. Boutte will learn to keep his feet in, but he got open, and that was nice to see. IMO, BB blew the game. Kick the FG, kick the PAT, and you need an FG to win.

I think the OL will be much better when they get Onwenu back. I’m not sure Strange is better Maffi.

  11. Feel like every pats game since brady has been failed comebacks or getting our ass kicked.

  12. He did let them down. His mistakes early in the game lost the team the win. He almost did enough to come back but not quite.

  13. We should’ve taken our field goals. We went for it on 4th twice our luck was going to run out. But to lose by 5 when you left 6 points out there combined with the tipped pick 6 and the fumble, I Honestly feel really good about our team.

We were not as buttoned up as we usually are but these are all fixable issues. Our offense had life and Mac has potential.

  14. Mac fails to deliver the win in the 4th quarter. Nothing new about that. That’s who he has been for three years/

  15. This team played really well tonight. Mac was fantastic (aside from first quarter). Bad coaching sunk this game. 4th and 3 and you run it up the middle, WTF. If we go for a FG, the last play would have been a FG, we win by a point…

  16. I like the attitude but no one else should be blaming him. Dude played a very good game and we didn’t lose because he messed up at the end.

  17. If they take the FG instead of punting, the next score they don’t need a 2pt conversion and the final drive would’ve been enough to need a kick to win.

The rookie kicker beat Folk. Trust him. This isn’t on Mac. It’s a coaching loss

  18. That’s cause he did. I spent all last season defending this guy just for him to come out and look like he hasn’t put any work in at all to improve.

  19. The last few seasons, the team has had a tendency to play well when it needs to to keep a game competitive, and not when it needs to to win the game. I think it speaks to how teams really do have to “learn how to win;” hopefully the Patriots make strides in that area this season. They’re close, just need to have some breakthroughs finishing the deal.
