[Ed Kracz] Sirianni said he is going to re-evaluate his stance on playing some of his guys more in the preseason next year. Sounds like he believes that rust from first team not playing since Super Bowl played a factor in offensive performance tonight

  1. It was clearly a rust problem. They didn’t look used to playing. Almost every team played their starters for at least one drive idk why we couldn’t do at least that

  2. No shit Nick, and the coaches getting the plays in on time. Special teams not knowing who should be out there.

  3. Well the good thing is we can treat this like a preseason game and we won, these guys are going to come out on fire Thursday.

  4. Every person watching that game could see the rust. Gotta give Nick credit for self evaluating and admitting it. Maybe he does know what the fuck he is doing.

  5. Nick knows how to run a team far better than I ever would so I’ll obviously defer to him but the clean injury reports to start the year are nice too

  6. Same thing happened last year and we went to the SB. I don’t think that the risk of week 1 rust trumps the risk of unnecessary preseason injuries.

  7. I’ve never been a fan of not having the starters play at all in the preseason; they do need some reps.

I also think it will take a little time for the Eagles offensive and defensive units to having new coordinators and play callers.

  8. The shit that pissed me off was the special teams players not knowing they should be on special teams…

  9. And everyone was calling my an idiot when I said the eagles were going to struggle in this game cause they had no snaps in the preseason.

  10. All we can ask for is our coaches constantly re-evaluating what’s best for the team. I do think it was a mistake not to play starts with new OC/DC – kinda need to get the first few series out of the way

  11. Eh, the season is so long, who cares if you take a bit to get going?

I’d rather not risk losing surefire starters to injury.

  12. Well, we didn’t get anyone hurt in the preseason and we’re 1-0. Rust should be off now.

    Hope Dean is ok.

  13. I thought the Patriots played pretty well. Yeah, pick six, but Max Jones bounced back, got ball out quick and screen pass dinked dunked all over us. He wasn’t super successful with the deep balls but his short game looked efficient.

They looked like they had played before this preseason, unlike the eagles, to the OPs point

  14. I don’t think a couple series in the preseason would’ve overcome the ass play calling today, Nick.

  15. I’ll understand Nick has infinitely more experience than me running a team and trust he’ll shake off this shit that bugged us this first game.

  16. I think solak called it that belichek is a tough draw for your first real game calling an offense

  17. At least he’s acknowledging it, right?

I’m fine with Nick preferring to hang on the safe side of the preseason median. He just shouldn’t need our week 1 game against a significantly weaker opponent to come down to a final red zone stand to realize it’s a dumbfuck idea to not give his starters a single snap of full throttle preseason practice that 31 other NFL teams are taking advantage of.

  18. This is bull shit. It’s putting it on the players when his game plan was compete turd. It was a terrible game plan and terribly called.

  19. There are plays they could run that are low risk, or reduce bodies running into each other. Like how Hurts was wisely not fighting for 1 extra yard on a few runs today until the fumble.

  20. In last year’s opener we didnt look like world beaters, but we sure af looked better offensively than we did today.

To attribute the issue the lack of play during the preseason is iffy alone off that… and then you also get to it inviting our players to injury … could be a misstep, nick!

  21. My concern is that it isnt the lack of play in preseason…

Its that the o line could be worse than expected, and/or that brian Johnson isnt ready for the bigtime.

Both of those concerns are kneejerk given that its the first game of the season , so we’ll see what comes Thursday

  22. More teams should. Week 1 is a shitshow these guys need a small warmup I get that nobody wants injuries but you can’t be semi-sacrificing a few games in the beginning of the season

  23. Nick doesn’t often lead us astray and we owe him some trust here. Stop bashing. Yes, it was ugly but we are still 1-0. I have faith everyone will learn from this and we’ll get better going forward. We’re lucky we have a coach who is willing to be forthcoming about needing to make some changes to what he is doing.
