When you hear analysts about QB anticipation, this is why.
OL protects for 3+ seconds, WR gets open, but that extra second Fields waits is the difference between a 1st down and a sack.
It makes the OL & WRs look worse than they are. Plus, Mesh is a “comfort concept” for JF. https://t.co/AQszYj1koP

The church of Justin fields condemns this heresy
Fucking hilarious
Bagent szn
My wife says if this post gets over 1000 upvotes, I can get anal. Please upvote because I want this house to be spotless.
He doesnt trust the WRs, O-line, or himself at this point and its making the coaching staff and fans not trust him.
It sucks cuz i fuckin like this dude but he just aint it unfortunately.
On to the next one in the offseason
What the FUCK is Fields doing back there? THROW THE BALL!
I don’t want to judge his performance in this game or his long-term potential off one piece of tape; but man he looks like a deer in the headlights here.
Don’t worry. Eberflus will take them out for dinner to keep selling them in the HITS.
Guys you need to help me understand here…
Why can’t fields just do what Lamar Jackson does ? Is he stupid.
The RB is read #1 in mesh. Is he manned up with a LB with open field in front of him?
Read 2 is DJ(?) running the drag route towards that side of the field to utilize the space the RBs wheel route created
Mooney is read #3.
Mesh is a basic concept nowadays. Why is this so hard to understand for arm chair QBs and Twitter “experts”?
There’s several other plays where Fields progression was an issue. This one isn’t one of those plays.
Isn’t MESH reads: RB1, WR1, WR2? This tweet in incorrect.
Aside from whatever Fields is doing here, what an awful rep from Whitehair. Dude is so high, look at his hand placement: first punch is on the top of the shoulder pads, second is to the facemask! No wonder he got beat for the sack. Compare that to Davis whose first and second punches are to the chest, and he actually manages to lock his guy up with the second.
He got pressured 29 times lol wtf Jordan love got pressured 2 times
My friend was at the game and he said DJ Moore vented his frustration at Fields a couple of times
Fields is who he is. That’s not ideal but I want this team to keep building out the trenches so the next QB is in a better situation
In no way am I ready to give up on Fields yet, but that lead is getting shorter.
Yeah unfortunately it looks like we’ll be trading Fields to the Ravens to be Lamar Jackson’s backup for a conditional fifth rounder… Hope Carolina sucks too so we can get a QB and a star defensive player
Bruh if this continues until week 4-5, u need to see what Bagent has. U honestly have nothing to lose. Besides losing trust in Fields, and might look bad to the media, who really fucking cares?
Jay Cutler and Rex Grossman need to invigorate some fuck it chuck it mentality back into this kid.
Were gonna have to Tysum Hill the kid. Develop him as a RB/Qb/WR option and bring in a real QB that can run/execute the offense.
Thats what I am seeing at least.
Justin has not shown me that he can run an offense effectively. Basic preread snaps he makes 0 adjustments. Meanwhile rookie Badget and Love were making and altering presnap reads.
I am hopeful that Fields is young enough to turn it around and maybe carve out a taysum hill esq career.
But lets face it. Its a setback everytime Fields just runs around with the ball. He needs to hit that back foot and the balls gotta be coming out. He has not displayed the ability to do that.
He has the tools to be a really good player. But maybe not the tools to be even an average starter.
I think he needs to think less. Guys were open, it was a decision making issue.
If you break QB play down to its simplest possible foundational rule it’s be on time. From youth football to the NFL the absolute simplest thing you can do to improve is to be on time. I think he has the yips on any pass between the numbers, double clutching, leaving the pocket early, or just taking a sack.
It’s 1 game in his second year in the system, but it doesn’t look good. He looks damaged back there even when he has time, just expecting to get hit or getting ready to run. Is he not seeing the field because he’s panicking, or just can’t see it?
It’s so old trying to figure out if we just keep picking the wrong QBs, or our GM’s and coaches aren’t doing their jobs surrounding them with the talent they need and coaching them up.
People just blaming Fields are flat out wrong though. Even being a rebuild, Poles has done him no favors. That line is a liability far too much. Two drafts so far and 2 D backs with first two picks last year, third pick a gadget player that can’t even get on the field. This year Wright and then 3 defensive players. High priority FA signings were LB’s and then Nate Davis, who doesn’t like to practice. I thought teams were built in the trenches?
what people don’t realize is that fields didn’t get to actually develop good habits at all in his time here. Year 1 he was thrust into a team trying to save a man’s job and year 2 the OLine was dog shit and he had practice squad level receivers as his main options. He doesn’t trust anyone or anything other than his legs now.
