It’s funny how quickly the complaints about the Browns linebackers died once they actually got good defensive tackles in front of them. They’ve got the best defense in the NFL through three weeks with, pretty much, the exact same linebackers they had last season.

Wait so you’re saying having the DTs driven into the LBs face routinely was a bad thing

  2. I think we all knew the DTs were the main problem. I think the concern with the LBs was more health related, Awalk, and (TD catcher) TakiTaki were coming off torn ACLs.

  3. I mean, I always thought JOK and Walker were at worst solid. Taki has his issues but he’s a pretty sure tackler who does well against the run. Last year we have Deion Jones and Jacob Phillips sucking because of injuries so I think it’s a different conversation.

  4. Same linebackers who started the season, but all of them got injured and on IR at some point. They were down to guys off the streets very quickly last season

  5. I don’t think there were many complaints. The only issue was they were trying to stop RBs who had a full head of steam because our DTs couldn’t touch them.

  6. I’m not the first one to say this, but I strongly suspect that the reason why all of our (mostly undersized) LBs got hurt last year is because our D line was getting blown off the ball so badly on basically every play, which led to LBs getting routinely hit by O linemen who outweigh them by a lot.

  7. Not disagreeing about the tackles, that with being freed up from a complex scheme and just playing downhill is a huge help

  8. Depth was the issue. Trying to avoid our situation last year with just throwing warm bodies out there

  9. I don’t follow this take. Everyone loved JOK and A Walk, they just both got hurt. We were playing freaking special teamers at LB by the end of the season last year.

It was always Joe Woods and his god awful scheme that was the main problem.
