Blue Jays priced as 2nd betting favorite to sign Ohtani

  1. Who cares how the general public is betting

If they took a survey of Baseball Executives and they said the same thing then I’ll start edging. Even then getting over the Dodgers is a huge Hurdle

  2. I don’t see how it makes sense to the Toronto front office, but if we’re talking a Gaussman-like contract I’m all for it…

  3. I’m with that one dude who said he just wanted Ohtani to sign somewhere, anywhere, just to end this.

  4. He’s not signing with the Blue Jays. Why they keep popping up is hilarious and massive clickbait.

  5. It’s like buying a lottery ticket, it’s fun to dream while it’s still technically possible.

  6. It should be noted these odds are from a Canadian sportsbook, because of that it gets lots of Canadian money betting on him going to the Jays. The numbers are skewed because of that. I think we do have really good odds to get him, but not sure about 2nd best

  7. I’ll bet the Angels weren’t the #1 favourites last time around. Let’s see if he shocks people again!

  8. I am not saying we will get him, but I feel we have a decent shot (at least 20%). That is better than most times we get announced.

We have a Japanese Player who is well liked and grew up near him on our team.

We have one of the biggest Japanese populations outside of Japan.

A very stacked team with Ohtani (assuming Rogers pays the massive tax penalty).

Owners that actually have the money to make this a reality.

Owners that can directly benefit from Ohtani through their media empire to offset the tax penalty.

It would grow the game in Canada for MLB.

It isn’t crazy to see why the betting odds are showing us in the running. 🙏 🥹

  9. Vegas seems to have the insider scoop on some things. I’m trying not to get my hopes up but the rolling ball of good news/rumours has me feeling optimistic.

  10. He is headed to the Dodgers. It makes way too much sense and I am not letting myself become emotionally invested in Ohtani as a Jay.

  11. I’ve been ignoring all these articles and this subreddit and r/baseball because of BS rumours. I’d rather be happy or content with our signings come March than disappointed at pie in the sky opportunities that we may or may not have had a chance at.

  12. I can see the team making a push because the revenue he brings in would 100% be worth both the contract and the renovations.

    I’m not gonna hope though

  13. I would be thrilled if he did, but not holding my breath.

I’m just curious why he’d want to sign here in the first place? What’s the upside for him? Playing in the east? Playing with Yusei? Full time DH?

  14. I wish people would stop posting betting odds as if it means something.

All it means is more people are putting their money on Toronto, likely because they’re named in most of the rumors.

  15. I’m not surprised. But I’m still amazed that people bet on stuff like this.

In terms of the player what will be will be.

  16. I was in vegas during the summer and edmonton and toronto had the best odds of winning the Stanley cup this season

  17. There’s no way he’ll sign with Toronto. There’s a better chance of him staying in Anaheim
