  1. Oof I’m really hoping we don’t take this uptick in form as a thought that we’re back to being Cup contenders. Gotta let some of these guys go rather than he stuck in the same loop for even longer (fully on team half rebuild or something idk)

  2. If he can be dealt with an extension in place that would be ideal. We should get a really good return for him

  3. Have no real issue with that for a top pairing 26 year old defenceman who logs 20+ and skates faster than anyone in the league. Better chance he gets better before getting worse, and even the back end of that contract wouldn’t be that bad.

    And needless to say, I’d take this today, tomorrow and a few years from now as opposed to what you get in the UFA market for that price.

    And on top of that the return for him is likely a late first and another small asset. You’re not replacing Hanafin with a late first unless you strike gold.

  4. So a sign and trade? I get the tempting offer for that 8 year extension that teams would like that locked in but yikes 7.5 aav bit too high for my liking
