    * Blue Jays have been talking with the Padres about Soto. San Diego could wait and anyone who misses out on Ohtani could enter the bidding war
    * The Padres want major league ready talent, specifically pitching. They’ve asked the Yankees about Clarke Schmidt and Michael King. The Yankees view King as a member of the rotation in 2024. The Blue Jays could be willing to give up Manoah, Tiedemann and Bowden Francis. The Padres could take on prospects so long as they are big talents.

  2. The padres don’t want Manoah and would keep soto before making a deal involving him. My worry is Cashman is really dumb enough to let king hold this up.

  6. This is such a blatant leverage play to get the Yankees to up their offer. They mentioned Manoah as a piece that the blue jays could send back.

  8. 1. This posturing. Expect more of this in the next 7 days. I still think the Yankees match best what the Padres want and are the most motivated to make a deal.

    2. They’d be willing to acquire Grisham in order to grease skids.

  17. I’d rather not give up much now and then go after him in FA. He’s gonna hit FA anyways, not like he’s gonna give NY a discount on an extension if they trade for him.
