  1. Problem with the wings is the same that's happening to a lot of teams, poor defense, poor goaltending. but getting good defensemen or goaltenders is difficult, especially that they are in such high demand. The game has really changed, the teams that are dominating atm have some of the best defensemen in the language, with this offensive defensemen strategies that payoff. Wings have the same issue as Toronto, they are stacking all their chips in their forward lineup, that only goes so far, and the wings don't have the same talented forwards as Toronto, nor should they. They need to be looking for a trade for a top tier defensemen, and a better goalie.

  2. You can add a player like Kane, and even if he produces it’s still possible he made your team worse. There are metrics that aren’t tracked by sports journalists. For example, if you put two 50 goal scorers on a team, you don’t automatically end up with 100 goals. Because there are only so many powerplay chances, and 5v5 chances (the natural push and pull of momentum in games). Opponents will naturally play harder when they’re behind etc. So what happens is Kane scores 30, but the other guys on the team get -30 on the year. Or, for all we know, -40 on the year and your offence is -10. And this can’t be tracked but it’s very real. What’s the dynamic of the offence, who is quarterbacking it, and was it better than it was before??

  3. This Wings team is sooo painful to watch!! Yes the goaltending has been subpar, but the defensive play of the guys on the ice has been totally nonexistent!! If you’re not going to play any type of defense then you better out score them! F’ing embarassing!!

  4. The Wings defense is atrocious. They continue to over compensate in the defensive posture leading to in between coverages. Either take the man on man or the zone coverage. Looks like half the team is doing one or the other. I get in some circumstances the roles can change, but as a whole the coverages look out of sorts. This is a coaching problem. The guys are ready to go, but there is no consistency. Just looks off…
