Kakko should never be part of any trade for a rental.
Guentzal is by far the best rental available but the price for us, as a division rival, will be more expensive that say a team from the west.
Great player but the cost would be immense and not worth it unless some kind of extension was agreed upon prior to making a move for him (no idea if we’d even have the cap space for that).
We aren’t getting Guentzal until the summer if we do. He’s too expensive and what we would have to trade to Pitt for him would be too much, especially in our own division. I think he ends up out west.
Kakko does not hold the value Rangers fans think he does. More like Perrault/Othmann and a 1st, and that’s still probably not enough. Not happening.

I don’t understand the willingness to trade a young, cost-controlled 3rd line player for a pure rental that would also come at a high premium due to being a division rival.
I understand he hasn’t lived up to expectations, but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad player either. The fact of the matter is that teams don’t score on him when he’s on the ice, which is a valuable asset in the postseason. Our third line of Brodz/Cuylle/Kakko is buzzing right now.
Kick the tires on Tarasenko and Vatrano now and wait to see who officially decides they’re going to sell in two weeks before making a decision.

I don’t understand how short sighted some of these fan GM’s are by saying a divisional rival won’t trade with the Rangers like it hasn’t been done before? Also, you think if the best offer comes from the Rnagers, you think Dubas is going to say no? They’re not going to ask for a steeper price just because we’re rivals, no smart GM actually gives a shit about that. If they can find a way to trade for him with out giving up a roster player and Perreault you do that trade 10/10 times.

His numbers are padded significantly by literally ALWAYS playing with Crosby or Malkin. Not interested
