Interesting Hypothetical- What if the NHL had a different scoring system for Player Points? Here are 4 examples

  1. I like all the ones where Pastrnak is third. I don’t like the one where Pastrnak is fourth.

  2. But then it becomes difficult to compare to previous years. A player could have had 10 years in the NHL and then the stats change to this. What about his old stats, do we convert them, do we leave them ? I don’t see any value in changing the current point system.

  3. Player stats arent the thing we need changed, it’s the standings point system. It’s real life not fantasy

  4. Keep trying, I’m sure there’s a formula where Matthews is at the top.

Try “Hat Tricks” unlock 2x points for the night.

  5. I think players who would earn secondary assists on their own goals, should be awarded .5 assist, or something along those lines.

  6. Doesn’t matter. The real thing that matters is the end goal; the cup. Adapting/adopting statistics to relate to cup wins shows what is actually important. Everything else is fluff.

  7. Make it so players whose last name starts with with a K’s points are only worth half. The real MVP will then be obvious.

  8. You know, we can keep arguing about the top 5 candidates for the hart all day and I can at least respect most of your arguments for any of said candidates (unless you have Kucherov outside the top 5, and then I think you’re just a fucking idiot).

But I can’t help but laugh at all the people who had Tkachuk over Kucherov in their best wingers in the league lists. Y’all are crazy.

  9. I always felt that goals should be worth more than assists, but it feels wrong to have goals (a point scored in game) be worth two points statistically. I’d rather goals be 1 point and assists (primary or secondary) be 0.5, purely for no other reason than vibes

  10. I always found it bizarre how hockey counts secondary assists seemingly arbitrarily. I’m sure there’s some historical reason, and you can’t exactly change it to one assist retroactively with such a long history, but it’s just kinda weird

  11. I agree with this though, if it aint a ”tic tac toe” kind of goal, there souldnt be an 2nd assist. Sometimes it just seems like it’s been forever and the third guy gets a point still even though he did not participate in the play.

Like goalies shouldnt get assists lmao
