7. But then it becomes difficult to compare to previous years. A player could have had 10 years in the NHL and then the stats change to this. What about his old stats, do we convert them, do we leave them ? I don’t see any value in changing the current point system.

21. Doesn’t matter. The real thing that matters is the end goal; the cup. Adapting/adopting statistics to relate to cup wins shows what is actually important. Everything else is fluff.

26. I always felt that goals should be worth more than assists, but it feels wrong to have goals (a point scored in game) be worth two points statistically. I’d rather goals be 1 point and assists (primary or secondary) be 0.5, purely for no other reason than vibes

27. I always found it bizarre how hockey counts secondary assists seemingly arbitrarily. I’m sure there’s some historical reason, and you can’t exactly change it to one assist retroactively with such a long history, but it’s just kinda weird

30. I agree with this though, if it aint a ”tic tac toe” kind of goal, there souldnt be an 2nd assist. Sometimes it just seems like it’s been forever and the third guy gets a point still even though he did not participate in the play.
