Only QB prospect that ran a pro style offense. His play style most closely translates into what an NFL QB does.
Has elite speed and agility for a QB. JJ McCarthy actually had the fifth fastest three cone of ANYONE at the combine.
The biggest selling point about McCarthy though is that he has ELITE post snap processing. Daniel Jones biggest flaw is actually JJ’s biggest strength.
As a Notre Dame fan, I really don’t want to have to root for a guy from Michigan.
Had a good coach. Good football IQ. Unlike Zach Wilson and Trey lance who also came out very young he has played well and shown he can throw and win
I love a good point/counter-point so I’ll try to sell him as someone who doesn’t want him: processing speed and recognition is very good. When in a clean pocket has good mechanics, particularly his footwork. He has enough arm to run the currently en vogue (and very successful) offense of primarily short-medium passing in space. Has enough athleticism to scamper for critical yards when needed.
There’s nothing I’ve seen from him to say he’s better than Jones.
An endorsement from Harbaugh.
Trade up a ND go big
Reset the QB contract for 4, maybe 5 years. Spend money elsewhere.
From what i saw last bunch of games, No thank you. Giants better not draft him.
I think I have to leave this sub. What is up with everyone on here’s love for JJ? It’s mind boggling that so many of you on here want a game manager at #6 overall
I can’t say I watched every Michigan game but the ones I did they were a run first time with our offensive line it’s not gonna work
i was told he had 6 games this year where he threw less than 10 passes so idk
WR, OL, DEF. Get a QB next year, build the roster.
When (if) JJ is the pick this sub is going to absolutely melt down and hate the kid before he even puts on the pads for us.
The kid is going in the top 10
There’s literally no guarantee this guy would be any better than Daniel Jones. I love when people just make shit up based on pure unbridled hopium.
-He ran a pro style offense that better translates to the NFL game. He was coached by Harbaugh who is a proven QB mentor. Peter Schrager said,” JJ got up on the board and dissected things that no other QBs could”
-JJ is the best QB this class at throwing under pressure. His adj. completion % under pressure was as high as some of the other QBs combined pressured/unpressed. The only QB above him was Bo Nix, who was throwing 50% shorter passes. JJ threw an elite 13 touchdowns to 4 INTs under pressure the last two years.
-JJ is potentially the best improviser to pass in this draft class. Hes very good under pressure and when he threw on the run, he completed above 70% of his passes. While Caleb can do some crazy, magic type improv plays, JJ is also elite and does it in a way that is more practical and results in less turnovers in the NFL. He has a good feel for the pocket and you’ll often see him evade edge rusher, step up in the pocket, and deliver a good ball.
-At the combine, JJ showed off his arm strength. He can safely throw 60 yards downfield and his velocity was 2nd in the group behind Joe Milton at 61 MPH. Some people think JJ is just a checkdown merchant, but in the last two years, on 20+ yard passes, JJ threw 18 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions. This was with just average downfield weapons. No Odunze, Polk, Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr, Troy Franklin, Tez Walker, etc. His best downfield receiver was Ronnie Bell in 2022. Daniel Jones coming out of school, completed just 26% of passes 20 yards and over during his last two season. JJ’s got serious arm talent and with that velocity, he can fit the ball in tight spots. He really challenged defenses in the middle of the field.
-JJ is a great athlete, who is expected to run a 4.5 40 time and posted an impressive 3 cone drill at the combine.
-JJ was the best QB in 3rd and long situations, a clear passing down when the defense knows what to expect. On 3rd and 7, he completed 73% of his passes and 6 Tds to 0 Ints.
-He is 3-4 years younger than Penix, Daniels, and Bo Nix and his best football is ahead of him. He improved a ton year over year. He improved from a 76 PFF Passing Grade to 87 in 2023.
-He wins more than any other QB in the class. He won 97% of his games the last two years, with big performances against Ohio State the last two years and a strong performance against Alabama this year, who has two top edge rushers and two top corners in the draft, and the best college coach. You can say that winning isn’t a QB stat, but he consistently made big plays when asked, and he has done this since high school. He wins where he goes.
-He is great leader and people gravitate towards him. This has been reported by Harbaugh, many of his teammates, even opposing players.
This sub is so impossible to follow without hating everyone in it.
I can’t sell you on him but I can sell you any of the WR1 s in the draft
I’d take JJ in the second. He won’t fall that far, but thats the value I see in him
Biggest difference I see between JJ McCarthy and Daniel Jones as prospects is that McCarthy has a stronger arm and is better at throwing on the run. That to me is huge when it comes to potential elite QBs.
Also, he’s got more swag compared to Jones, who seems to be a goober with Manning face without Manning talent.
Hell no
How can you say he’s better than Jones when he hasn’t taken a snap in nfl game 💀
No one will know
This organization should be barred from talking about QBs 😂🤮
I’m not good of a sales person
Than no.
Hard to say but he can’t be blamed for winning a championship running the plays called by the coaches and losing 3 games in his life. That being said I wouldn’t spend a 6 on him.
Sorry, why are we needing to be sold on him?
I think he’ll surprise people, not gonna be the most elite guy but I can see him being an Eli Manning or Phillip Rivers, average but solid guy
Go somewhere else, everyone is just gonna be hating here
Do your own research
If they end up going with JJ I’m not going to overreact. We have two 2nd’s and he will not have to start right away.. we saw what Daboll did with Josh Allen, let’s give him the chance to fail or succeed with his own guy. We have no control over what direction the FO decides to go.. Just gotta try to understand the pick and hope for the best.
I watched twenty minutes of the combine and now I’m all in on Joe Milton. It’s time for the Giants to have a black QB.
My evaluation qualifications? Um, I just said I watched twenty minutes of the combine.
Daniel jones has won a nfl playoff game on the road.

Did you graduate kindergarten?
I’m so tired of JJ every post.
