Peter Schrager (@PSchrags) on X – Sean Payton missed out on Mahomes when Andy Reid jumped him in 2017. If the Broncos wanted one of these QBs and got shut out, I’d be surprised. Fool me once …

Give the video a watch. Peter and Sean were VERY close when he was with fox.
5 weeks to go.
God I hope we don’t screw over whatever guy Payton loves by trading up for him. If you’re going to succeed you need guys around you and any rookie we trade up for won’t have that
Can’t remember when or where, but I read this about the 2017 draft and Payton missing out and then taking next prospect on their board. Saints took Marshon Lattimore and passed up on Deshaun Watson. If the guy Sean wants is there at 12 then take him. But if he’s chasing and competing with Vikings with a move up… not sure if I want to see what it takes to move up.
this is the same clown who predicted Russ was gonna win MVP under Nate Can’t Hackett, right?
clown ass take by a clown
I’d rather take Penix in the 2nd even with his injury history than Nix or Mccarthhy in the 1st.
I trust Sean Payton’s eye for QB’s. He ain’t drafting no Paxton Lynch for the Broncos.

*For the record, I personally heard Sean Payton relate on the Colin Cowherd show in 2022 that the Saints had the #11 pick in the 2017 draft and were all set to take Patrick Mahomes. New Orleans had him in several days pre-draft and Payton said he had never seen a young QB with such processing capabilities.*
*But just before the Saints went on the clock for pick #11 in 2017, Buffalo (of all teams) traded their #10 pick to Kansas City and the rest is history with Mahomes.*
I’m done pretending anyone has a crystal ball re: QB’s. What happens will happen and I’ll trust Sean to make that decision.
Schragerbomb!! 💣
Mahomes was second off the board. If Sean really wanted him, he should have known the second qb would go before they picked….
It is a different situationtoday. We would have to give up so much to move up to get the 2nd qb now. Have to hope for a hidden gem
This means nothing, of course hindsight is 20/20 but what other prospects did he like that didn’t pan out?
I’m against moving up to take anyone honestly. The team in general is devoid of talent, but if SP thinks whomever they trade up to draft can be successful his gotta do it dont he? we really don’t have a choice unless we somehow luck our way into the guy we want falling
Who do the titans want? Are they looking at QBs?
So what Schrager is saying is that freshly removed from trading multiple 1sts for Russ, the Broncos are going to again, trade multiple 1sts in a blockbuster to get ‘his guy’
Deep breath………..sigh.
Reminder: the Saints won both offensive and defensive rookie of the year out of that draft class, plus two more all-pro’s, plus a multi-time pro bowler. HiNdSiGhT.
