The hesitation dribble has made good defense nigh impossible.

This move allows you to change directions at will and it was once called a double dribble for a reason. I understand that entertainment has become a priority, but it’s not even basketball when you can stop dribbling for a full second and dribble again.

It’s such a dominant move that EVERY professional guard in the NBA has a hesitation package.

Edit: this guy explains the situation so well: https://youtu.be/i3xxP9etprw?si=9I6mhB6iFvBhNZ5n

  1. I guess my question is what rule is it breaking that should make it illegal? If they carry during their hesitation then that’s a different conversation but a legal hesitation dribble can be defended by simply staying in your stance and not reaching.

  2. If the wraparound dribble isn’t a carry then neither is the hesi

    Lrn 2 play defense
