Lakers News: Mike Greenberg Advocates LA Throw Play-In Game vs New Orleans

Are they already making up an excuse when they lose?

There is no reason LA would do that. Makes absolutely 0 sense. The lakers fanbase will always title chase and the only way to do that is to go through some tough teams. If they can’t exorcise their demons against Denver then they won’t win a title. Same can be said about the Pels exorcising their awful clutch time and comeback performances.
No way LA will do that, no way LeBron will do that
Also, I’d rather see us beat them fully healthy, not with both bron and AD being out
Most lakers fans don’t agree with this to be fair.
It’s a somewhat interesting talking point until you realize that both SAC and GSW are BAD matchups for the Lakers.
It would make more sense for the Pelicans to throw the game than it would for the Lakers to, but no media will talk about that because like you said….
If the lakers lose, the narrative will be “this is better anyway. Plays right into their hands”- but if the Pelicans lose it’ll be “Lakers own Pelicans. Poverty franchise”
I like to think of it in NBA rigging the games terms. I could see them wanting Lakers vs Warriors that way Lebron avoids Nuggets 1st round and can have a higher ceiling postseason. Also Lakers vs Warriors play-in can get numbers for them.
# Mike Greenberg is a jackass. What an idiotic story. I’d love to hear Lebron’s take on it but behind closed doors. These writers get paid to write total nonsense for clicks and to just stip things up. It was not always this way.
Greenberg has really turned into an idiot. Lakers are gonna throw a game to get to another must win game and still probable (or certainly maybe) have to play Denver anyway? Yeah, that makes sense.
If the Lakers are thinking about championship, they will have to face the Nuggets eventually. They might as well face them right away when Bron and AD are still fresh and healthy
