  1. Feeling okay. You can’t necessarily expect a guy to be so lights out that you can climb on his back and win the world series in his first season in the majors so I’m just happy to see that he’s not struggling too much, as much as there may be room for improvement.

  2. I’ll feel better when Yelich is healthy so we don’t have to use Chourio almost every day. Give him a chance to watch and soak it all in every now and then.

  3. He will be optioned to AAA when Yelich and Mitchell get healthy I would guess barring him figuring things out between now and the end of May when Mitchell returns.

  4. He’s had enough success and due to all our injuries we’ve asked him to play a lot. I’d expect another month-ish of struggles before he start attacking fastballs more- it seems like he’s a bit overwhelmed by off speed and has been really using RF to his advantage early. Soon he’ll be recognizing pitches better and more aggressive in counts where he’s in the drivers seat. He just hasn’t seen this level of “stuff” yet.

  5. Really good defensively, on the base paths and showed he can hit for power. These two are different situations. Chourio staying in the lineup will be better for his development, Holiday still needs more time and should be sent down to fix his swing

  6. Frelick, Wiemer, Dunn, Bauers, Ortiz and Chourio are all in that .250-.290 range of xwOBA. I’m at least somewhat worried about all of them. That range isn’t so bad that it is unplayable but is low enough that it isn’t helping the team much either.

Frelick and Ortiz need to start hitting the ball harder and not hitting the ball into the ground so much. The other guys need to stop striking out so much.

  7. He has struggled but I hope/expect they will let him play through it and learn.

  8. He’s performing almost exactly like I thought he would – decent power, low BA, lots of strikeouts. Would love to see him take more walks and be more disciplined at the plate but this isn’t totally unexpected. I don’t think people mention enough how he only had a couple dozen plate appearances in AAA last year so he’s seeing a huuuuuuuge upgrade in pitching. They’ve got all the time in the world with him so if he’s still struggling when Yeli & Mitchell are back I’d send him to Nashville to get right, especially if Perkins continues to play well.

  9. I think that really got first week or two gave us some unrealistic expectations. He came up and raked, now there’s a report out on him and teams are adjusting. He’s come down to Earth, but I think he’s showing us what we need to see.

The measure of any rookie isn’t their first stint, it’s the counter-adjustment. I’m looking forward to how that works out.
