Brady Quinn – NFL Schedule Factors in Taylor Swift Tour as Opposed to Player Safety

well I mean the uh NFL’s VP of broadcast planning uh Mike north um he basically said relation to Peter uh no valid question it could be a cousin it could got be nephew you know brother stepdaddy stepdaddy your daddy baby daddy your daddy he ain’t is he’s also uh no relation to uh the broadcast Legend uh Fox Sports Radio North yeah but this Mike North said that basically you know the Jets kind of owed us one so he said it on a zoom call with reporters talking about how disappointed they were that you know they had all this buildup for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets and it lasted four plays and they were gone and he talked about just you know the number of games that we’re going to see of them in prime time that we broke down in the first half of the season and I’ll say this I appreciate the honesty you know at least they’re uh they’re they’re pretty transparent when it comes to that he’s one of the all-time great players this may be his final season or final you know one or two years in the NFL put them on in prime time as many times as possible if we’re all about generating eyeballs and interest in getting this product seen by the most people you could say this about Aaron Rogers great player also a lightning rod and there’s going to be somebody who’s either rooting for him or somebody who’s cheering against him and so the fact that they just came out and said look didn’t get everything that we asked for last year so we’re asking for more again this year and hoping that he stays healthy and we’re going to get these matchups no issue with it whatsoever which is odd because when Zach Wilson got drafted there they were really bullish on trying to put this this team in prime time and then that kind of faded so it’s like well maybe you owe us one too you know as fans for the crap you put us through some of those years hey mean like the last decade plus you know with no playoffs for the New York Jets so if you’re if you are sick of seeing Aaron Rodgers um tough balls uh you’re going to see a lot of them and the NFL is okay with that I think that’s how it should be I mean we should see how that plays out that’s going to be one of the more interesting storylines because it’s going to be story worthy regardless of how it it turns out if he plays amazingly and the team has great success it’s a great story to let if and run with if you’re the National Football League and if you’re the media if it falls on its face it’s the same thing you don’t think it’s going to go that way though do you no I don’t yeah man I I I think they’re going to be good though man see but that’s that’s the reason why you want to have these these games play out that way yeah cuz we have both sides that are on the side Jets Jets Jets see if if it works out that way it’s a it’s a hell of a story if it doesn’t work out that way it’s a hell of a story cuz I don’t see it I don’t I don’t see I I feel like you know the the fireman he he retired from saying jets for a reason it that’s that reason is not going to be undone this year wasn’t it because Rex Ryan was trying to smell his feet all the time maybe gosh that’s okay I’m just reading you regurgitating reports that I saw from you know the New York Times and things like that potentially so I don’t know I mean the fact that fireman Ed is no longer there is a disgrace uh but the fact that Aaron Rogers are gonna be well they drove him away you know with how bad they play they might not they might not bring him back this year that’s all I’m going to say what was the reasoning behind him leaving I think he got tired of chering for losing though he did come back I think he did come back Lee can you look that up why did fireman Ed actually leave um I don’t believe it was because Rex Ryan was smelling his feet but if we could find out why exactly that was I think it really would benefit all from that all we benefit I think it was the Thanksgiving night blowout loss to the Patriots he left the game at Halftime deleted his Twitter account and he retired and dur that was during the butt fumble game too I told you he was upset wait the but like all the bad football he’s seen the butt fundle butt fumble was the one that did him in could not handle that that was the one he couldn’t handle he returned uh at the beginning of 2015 so there’s oh that was a long time ago yeah dang I didn’t realize it was that long ago and by the way Sanchez was the one who had the butt fumble and he was the last guy who took him to a couple AFC Title Games you think there’d be a little bit more grace for a mistake like that the fact that he was the quarterback of those two AFC title game appearances but he butt fumbled and the guy bailed on the team I don’t know if I were them I wouldn’t allow him back we need support here he said in interview that it was because he was getting increasingly harassed at the stadium at medlife Stadium I want wonder why he’s 75 years old standing on somebody’s shoulders and he’s getting the entire crowd to cheer and if you get fact check he’s 64 years old not standing on anyone’s shoulders okay and uh yeah all right well listen we round up on this show but the point is if you do that and you’re a bad football team and there’s some drunks appx throwing out propaganda that’s exactly what happened and you get some drunks from Foxboro who are just putting it on you cuz you haven’t beaten them in like two decades yeah you’re going to get harassed yeah it’s the way it goes yeah Brady always told me if you can’t take the heat get out of the stall I said okay you’re right that’s a hot stall yeah you right where’s that heat coming from what the hell are you talking about I don’t know all right you’re you’re the one who told me that like your your favorite move is to ask for toilet paper from the stall next to you right in order to do that I tap my foot underneath to make sure you tap or you show an open hand to the guy yeah toilet paper right here please back to the Jets by the way toilet paper here you are do you do you feel like other teams look at the Jets opportunity with as many like Sant alone games Prime Time games um and they look at and say to themselves like oh you know that’s uh little unfair you know could have tossed one our way you know I could have could have maybe done one for us you think like Carolina is like hey what about us and then they realize oh never mind oh never mind we’ll probably lose that one wait wait not probably lose that one too I I think the thing that bothers me the most by the way about the NFL scheduling and I don’t know if I it doesn’t look like we’re going to try to like talk about this subject again but the fact that they took into account the Taylor Swift tour when scheduling like they admitted that if you’re a player and even for the Jets and I know the Baltimore Ravens are obviously upset about you know their schedule as well they have to play on Christmas again they’ve got a short window where they’ve got to play three games in 10 days the Jets have to play three games in 10 days early and then three games in 11 days twice before week 11 so what bothers me about it is they are factoring in Taylor Swift’s tour as opposed to player safety when thinking about you know where they want to put the Kansas City Chiefs and these different prime time events Etc well yeah that that’s a problem for me like if I’m the NFL PA and obviously they have a new PA president I I would be like completely outspoken about the lack of care or concern about player we heard Alber beer said yesterday like they just don’t care about player safety anymore they don’t care about players recovering anymore and if they wanton an 18th game the NFL PA should go hard at trying to figure out a way of expanding roster sizes so guys and I hate saying this but they’re not going to be able to play all 18 games there’s going to be weeks where they on a short week they’re just going to have to take the day it’s going to be like load management that’s essentially what it’s going to be because the NFL does not care enough about the players which they you know their employees however you want to look at them they don’t care enough about their well-being and safety to build in buys to build in enough rest for them throughout the course of the season now are you confident the NFL PA is actually going to do that no because like again the last time I was like hey let’s just get like you know a Le lesser punishment for marijuana you know that was like one of their big takeaways like okay great we got check that off the box but no it’s never prioritized like a lot of people think like oh we should prioritize guaranteed contracts guaranteed contracts weren’t prioritized in other professional sports that’s what people don’t understand is it wasn’t like the the unions for those Sports were like hey we need to make sure these things are guaranteed it’s like no they have longer careers in them so for a lot of those Sports you know they have the opportunity to sign a fully guaranteed deal because of the fact that they’re going to be playing for much longer there’s less you know chance of injury as compared to what you’re seeing in in football so there’s other things you can shoot for which would help you know lifetime healthare for players how about that you know why not shoot if you want to shoot for one big thing and you want to talk about like player safety well-being all right well if they don’t care about scheduling at least give them lifetime Healthcare once they’re done if they’re a vested veteran that would make a lot of sense would it not yeah yeah well there’s a lot of it that makes a lot of sense uh unfortunately uh nobody seems to factor any of that stuff in and away we go with uh the potential 18 games coming right around the bend
