REACTION TO DARNELL NURSE BAILING ON THE MEDIA

joined by Marty Bon Marty Darnell nurse is a minus 12 through 15 games the worst plus minus of any one of these playoffs this from the second highest paid Oiler only McDavid makes more we’re not sure if he’s mad at himself or his critics but he was clearly upset at today’s media availability how big of a problem is this for the Oilers listen I I don’t think it’s a problem the way that Darnell nurse is speaking to the media he’s frustrated I get that right but at least he’s speaking to the media could hide in the back corner and PW and not take any questions so there’s that number two yeah I get it he’s minus 12 really at five on five he’s been on the ice for eight goals for and 18 against but he never plays with Conor McDavid the the six top fours that he’s played with are Kane Holloway dry cido Brown fogal and uh Carrick so you’re looking at the quality of players that he’s playing with these guys are not performing at five on five so obviously the plus minus is going to hit hit him in game three the last two goals right the the three three goal and the 4-3 goal it’s not really on Darnell nurse but he’s still a minus two so I get it look he’s got to get going he’s got to give more because of his salary but if you look at where he slotted in in the lineup as a second pair defenseman he’s not doing too bad somebody else has to help him and I know there’s frustration there for sure with Darnell nurs good perspective my friend okay look when the Oilers fell behind two games to W to the Canucks last round they sat steuart Skinner went to Calver picker the Oilers are down two to one again but this time Chris noblock is sticking with Skinner instead of going to Picker what do you think of the call apples and or oranges right it’s a totally different situation the Vancouver canox did not have the offense that the Dallas Stars have right now so when you looked at the first you know situation with steuart Skinner was he was losing games for the anont ERS you needed a goenda lose you a game maybe wasn’t going to win you a game but just wasn’t gonna lose it for you and Kelvin picker came in gave Stuart Skinner a break and then Skinner played well after that against the Dallas Stars right now you don’t don’t need a goalie that’s not going to lose you you need a goalie that’s gon to win your game a goalie that’s gonna steal your game so obviously you’re not going to look to Calvin picker for that you’re gonna stick with Stuart Skinner and you’re gonna give him a chance to really on all me in game four make a stand for himself all right so you said the ERS need a goalie to steal a game that begs the question do you think Skinner is capable of stealing one against the Stars well obviously you look at the two options and he’s the better golender to steal your game but you know steuart Skinner has gotten hot a couple of times this season he’s won seven in a row where he had a 934 save percentage and 171 goals against average and obviously 12 in a row where he was a 950 save percentage and a 142 goals against average so yes seart Skinner can win you not just one game a few games and he can get hot so he’s the right pick Skinner gave up four goals on just 21 shots last game he said in the past he struggled coming off a loss but not anymore now he’s totally confident that he can indeed bounce back

  4. I think Martin Biron has a thing for Nurse. This guy has been playing D for Nurse better than Nurse plays D for the oilers.

  5. He needs to be called out for his performance in the same way that Ken Holland needs to be called out for signing him at that 9.2M price. The fact, he's not that good Clearly Ken Holland isn't as a GM.

  17. This isn't a problem at all. The only issue is that fact the Oilers GM overpaid a player who clearly is not able to live up to that paycheck. He is a second pair Dman, not a first pair guy. He can certainly play better, but let's not pretend he is an all star who is struggling. It's the same issue Vancouver had with Myers. Everyone was mad at the player, because they expected him to live up to his paycheck. It's not the players fault they are overpaid.

  27. When Nurse was signed to the extension, he was seventh in norris voting that year. This was a summer where 4 defenceman were signed to 9 mil+ per season. The mistake Holland made was not the offer, as it was basically the market rate at the time.

    The mistake was not waiting till the following season to see if Nurse could maintain that level of play as he was still under contract for the next season.

Alberta is a racist place one of the most difficult places for a Blackman to live and work.i have seen this personally in my day to day work in the oilfield.when the team looses the first guy to get it is Darnell when other white players make mistakes they are treated with respect.its about our ppl 400 plus yrs of being hated and mistreated.we a strong ppl and this won't affect Darnell he will rise from it God has your back young fella keep your head up..keep putting in the time to art form…

  31. There is 6 players on the ice for one and two Nurse is up against the opposing teams best scorers. A lot of the goals were not his fault and the ones that were well they were deflections off his body. A little bad luck I think
