The Top 5 Personalities of the White Sox/Cubs Rivalry | CHGO Tavern Style

welcome into chgo Tavern Style presented by salo’s Pizza head over to the Grand Avenue location or call 31266 63444 to make a reservation today I’m Sean Anderson of chgo White Sox I am Big Dave chgo Bulls yes he is and we are going to be talking about the top five Personalities in the Cubs socks rivalry before we get into the top five the consensus top five that should not be judged should not be criticized and is absolutely 100% factual if you disagree you shouldn’t you’re wrong okay so you’re not allowed to have an opinion only Dave and I all right we have the right opinion that’s it it’s ours you got to let me know about this Michael Jordan inclusion cuz you wanted to put him five I don’t know about that I don’t even know if Mike was wearing a white sock Jersey when I was around so let let me know what it was like to see him in a white sock Jersey when you put together greatest white socks Cub rivalry moments it will be included that Michael Jordan went three for four with I think two RBI or three RBI with that double and when he’s stood on second and he’s tipping his cap to everyone on that is a moment all right and that’s how cool Michael Jordan is now dope he is is he’s not even a baseball player wasn’t even out it was it that was the time when everything was exhibition so that’s the reason he was out there but the fact that he did that and went it just sent Chicago into hysteria because again that’s Chicago that’s Cubs that’s socks That’s Mike so everybody was like yeah and the CU fans couldn’t be mad because you love Michael Jordan what you going boo Mike I dare you go ahead boo that man if you want all right no it if you’re putting together moments that moment will always be on there that’s why I included him on there all right I don’t I don’t hate it and and you can’t Mike but again that doesn’t really fit with the Rivalry he’s the one guy that transcends the Rivalry I just put him six I put him down you know at the bottom hon I mean [Laughter] so let’s go to number five okay you wanted to include Paul kerko and as a White Sox fan I don’t hate that but I do feel like we got to give the Cubs some love sure Paul kerko leads the Rivalry in plate appearances played from 99 to 2014 leads the Rivalry in home runs with 20 but at five I hated seeing Aramis Ramirez in the early a he was a white socks killer I looked up some highlights and there was one Series in 2008 that I forgot about the Cubs were 32 and8 at home going into this series and it was Atley and Ras Ramirez had how many home runs in that three game series three four d right there two walk-offs yeah at least one walk-off in the game out to dead center brutal and he was a socks killer 13 home runs he leads the Cubs uh in in homers in this side and I know that he is a guy that just Cubs fans really uh went to in that era us being socks fans I know we can’t speak too much to Cubs guys the next guy is a Cubs guy but he’s also a socks but Ramirez also was kind of polarizing too as well so putting him on there like I’m not against any of that but yeah next guy he’s got to be on the list all right that’s Sammy Sosa you got to have Sammy Sosa on the list whether it’s Jerry curl dripping Sammy you know what I’m saying or it’s swinging Sam or slamming Sammy you know what I’m saying that he was on the North side you love seeing Sammy SAA because he actually understood the Rivalry you know what I’m saying being there on both sides he actually got it so when he would act there come up there to play you could tell he was playing to win Sammy wanted to beat the white side every time he understood what it meant to be in that kind of rivalry man so I have to appreciate that kind of thing and and Sammy was one of my favorite players period you know what I mean so it’s hard for me to go against it I know what you mean because as a boy who was born on the 21st of a month uh whose favorite colors were blue and red oh maybe maybe there’s a some pictures of my seventh birthday party with me and some Cub stuff uh but but just like I saw that highlight of Michael Jordan’s double in that exhibition game I also recently saw the annivers of him corking his Bat and that was the day I swore off Mr Sammy Sosa all right I needed Integrity in my damn baseball so I was like no I can’t do this my dad’s a socks fan so he won me over okay fair enough and then you know in the 2004 season after especially after 2003 uh I was like I’m just going to go to the other side wow your timing was pretty brilliant was it it was pretty good time and now I feel like there’s no way I can never go back and it’s not like I want to go back don’t worry but I mean Sammy was just such a huge figure and growing up and watching baseball baseball and ESPN’s you know running baseball highlights for literally an hour straight and Sammy Sosa is leading it off and he’s hitting 63 home runs it’s hard not to be a fan of that guy in Chicago and bring around like I’m from Chicago too Samy I kind of like it yeah and I really didn’t understand you know Frank Thomas I guess when I was when I was younger and maybe I should have I I didn’t understand the power of Frank but it was more cerebral with him you know what I mean you’re watching Frank it was it was a study with Sammy it was just go hit the home run now you know what I mean with with Frank it was like might might get you a double say to the opposite field it’s great you know I mean one probably the second best hit I’ve seen in my life but man dog Sammy was just Euphoria yeah and Frank’s MVPs came before me too so I mean 93 yeah Frank wasn’t in his Heyday Sammy was so uh we’ll give it four to Sammy uh first before we get into three want to let you know about our friends over at SOS stop by Saros on and get half Eddie what’s that reference Eddie Murphy oh oh man I got to oh now we got to watch it now we got to watch Eddie Murphy yeah no it’s all I just I I’m not good at quoting stuff I’ve seen raw don’t worry okay all all right all I’ve spent the hour uh head over toos pizza.com ask them to put raw on the TV uh or call 312 666 3444 for more information again mentioned chgo and get half off your pizza uh that’s a family friendly uh standup special right yes yeah you go play that in in a pizzeria it’s called it’s called raw yeah and we we can play that in Pizzeria it’s about sushi shout out to the purple sup uh I’m want to five purple suit I think go get fitted you would pull it off so awesomely do you can do that I promise let’s go to number three and I think everyone thinks of this moment when they think of cubs socks it’s only been really a true rivalry since 1997 and the biggest moment is when Michael Barrett sucker punches AJ pinski at home uh thankfully Scott podsednik was there to tackle Michael Barrett so shout out Scotty pods uh but easily for me AJ has to be included on this list because of that moment because he starts walking away slapping his after getting punched and then when he shows up to Wrigley in the ninth inning tied ball game he goes deep so I mean he just seemed like a guy that obviously always loved to be a pest against anyone he played but then when you’re punching him in the face he really loved being a pest without a doubt when you think of great villains and great uh uh agitators you you think of guys like AJ pinski because those kind of guys always get it when it comes to a rivalry agitators get it oh cuz they Thrive off of not being liked oh you don’t like me to the point you want to punch me in the face oh I’m going to make you suffer and so every time they saw him the booze rain down so the fact Boos are raining down and you’re hitting a home run against that team the Euphoria the greatness he had to feel running around those bases just had to be outstanding and he lived it like cuz again oie’s the manager so he lived that hatred for the Chicago Cubs as well man I loved it I loved every second of it who’s number two Aussie just ping there you go let’s go a hated them all right with the capital H had never had nothing nice to say about them couldn’t stand them couldn’t stand their premises couldn’t stand their lineups argued with the uh managers like he he was great I loved every second of it dog like yeah Azie is the one who puts the samp on it for you when you putting on your socks at you like yeah you damn right I’m with him I would have honestly put him one but uh he recently on Twitter when White Sox talk put out the clip of him saying I don’t like ggle field it’s awful he said oh well now after the updates it’s it’s it’s a fine thing no Azie you got to stick to it it’s a bit you got to hate Wrigley Field you got to got to hate it with all your heart and as a guy that played in the first Cross Town game in 1997 managed in it has broadcasted in it I think that he would be an easy number one but again he didn’t commit to the bit number one the man who committed to the bit and will commit to the bit until he goes into his grave along with hating Brooks Boyer haw harelson uh I I I think he might say some probably offensive things at this point about Wrigley Field but hey we’re not putting a microphone in front of his face and uh so far uh he’s done all right uh so we’ll go with Hawk harelson number one because that man I think if you asked him right now about Wrigley Field he’d say man what a dumb be like what do you how much time you got what he’d say to you man the things I learned about Wrigley and how terrible it was some of them came from hul harson like damn for real that’s how they do that down there oh I hate it down it’s always muggy the water never works like everything always sounded like the 40s when he was talking about I’m like wait it’s 2003 like what’s going on Hulk was just he basked in that hate and he didn’t care that they knew it he hated going there even when he was announcing and talking about it while he was there he was telling you he hated being there like he just didn’t like anything about it how can you not love that in the Rivalry I I it was my favorite part about Hawk harelson is he committed to the bit every single time even if he was wrong he didn’t care uh Big Dave of chgo bulls I’m Sean Anderson of chg White Sox those are the top five personalities of the Cub Sox rivalry if you have any thoughts I guess we’ll allow you
