Take Command’s NFC East Position Rankings | Take Command
it’s time to take command with former NFL tight end Logan Paulson and former Commander beat reporter Craig Hoffman what’s up what’s happening at the take command podcast I’m Craig Hoffman he is Logan Paulson and Logan it is time for an annual tradition it is time for our NFC East positional group Rankings today we’re going to do the offense uh so we will rank each team’s unit of quarterbacks running backs tight ends wide receivers and offensive line we will get to the defense next week on the show uh but I look forward to doing this every year uh sometimes we look really smart when we do this other times we underestimate that CD lamb’s about to become like the third best receiver in football and we look very silly a year later but that’s credit CD lamp so uh we will Dive Right In Logan with the quarterbacks because well we everything always starts with a quarterback and I actually think it’s in some ways interesting in some ways it’s not who do you think is the best quarterback SL who has the best quarterback room in the division which really comes down to who’s your qb1 and I don’t I don’t know that there’s a too much depth talk here no I think for me it’s obviously the Dallas Cowboys with Dak Prescott I think you know everyone kind of he tends to be much maligned in terms of kind of how the the nation views him but I think he’s very productive I think depending on the season he’s top eight sometimes he’s sniffing top five in terms of production like last year he was outstanding obviously there’s the playoff meltdown but I think when you look at the body of work like he’s got to be the guy and I know there are some limitations to his game but he kind of reminds me of like a Kirk Cousins plus he’s a guy that you that makes your team better elevates your skill position guys has a little bit more playmaking ability so for me I think he’s he’s got to be definitively the number one guy right yeah no there’s no doubt and I think it’s something that people don’t necessarily fully appreciate and I don’t know that I even appreciated how good people that study it think Dak was until the athletic football show did their quarterback rankings about a month and a half ago two months ago at this point and they had Dak as like the sixth best guy in the league or something like that seventh best guy in the league and for them it was you know contract included plus like a three-year window Etc but basically like uh Derek kenberg from reception perception who charts all the quarterbacks every year um and some of the other guys that that Robert Mays had on were like Dak has such a level of autonomy and control at the line of scrimmage like he kind of has not that he’s pton Manning obviously doesn’t execute at the the level that pton Manning did but the ability to like be in control of the offense and have the entire Playbook and stuff like it is Manning esque in the amount of control that Mike McCarthy trusts him to have and that’s a skill like that’s an attribute if you were to redraft the league Dak Prescott’s one of the first eight guys off the board without question he’s got to obviously play better in the playoffs and even in last year like he had had a couple really critical mistakes early in that game that dug them a hole but he still W out with like 400 yards in that game he just kept battling um and so if you you make it situation agnostic it’s a no-brainer that Dak Prescott is the best quarterback in the division and that’s with Jaylen Herz who was the MVP what two years ago but I think if you just look at the the actual player situation agnostic who’s the best it’s Dak and it’s not close no I’m 100% with that I think the only criticism you could potentially Levy is that the roster is kind of deteriorating around him because the contract structure and they’re going to have to give him extension here pretty soon so I think that’s the only thing you a year ago yeah right um and again I think the fact that he doesn’t win seemingly win big games is the other thing that you’d probably say but in terms of this Division I don’t I I mean it’s I I I don’t think even you know Jaylen Herz is probably the second guy and I don’t even think it’s close honestly like if I’m picking a team you know like in in that EX G for the next three years like he’s the guy emphatically the guy so um I know that people want to hate on him but uh I think he’s the right pick and it helps having you know great Playmakers on the outside you know with a guy like CD lamb and Brandon Cooks but uh he makes that thing go down there and um he’s a lot of fun to watch for sure for sure he’s accurate he’s decisive um you know he used to be a better Runner but still has the mobility um the one the one thing that you I think could fairly say is for the majority of his career he hasn’t really had to work wor about offensive line issues he’s had such a good line in front of him um but he also gets them in the right play and like again there’s a lot of mental responsibility um that that he takes on that enhances who he is as a player I do think the second guy is Jaylen Herz um I think the goal is hopefully eventually jayen Daniels passes him but like Jaden Daniels hasn’t taken an NFL snap yet uh clearly uh Daniel Jones is is not better than Jaylen Herz uh but I think I think it’s Herz second and his I I think it’s a such a critical year for him obviously uh in terms of like what we think of him as as a player moving forward um he’s already gotten paid so it’s not like he’s got to worry about that which is nice for him but he’s got to be a quarterback that they win because of in Philly moving forward because he got paid as opposed to a guy that you can win with and that that delineation I think is is where you draw the line and especially in quarterback play of there’s certain guys you can win with there’s certain guys that you win because of and if you’re going to pay a guy he better be a guy that you win because of and I think that’s the question for Jaylen Herz and for Kell Moore by the way taking over his OC can he turn Jaylen into that guy in 2024 yeah 100% agree and I think they you know watching him in the first 10 games or so last season you kind of thought oh maybe he is more a more Dynamic playmaker than you want to admit right like at least I wanted to admit but I think you still saw some of the issues from like a you know a technical quarterback perspective you know holding on the ball too long not anticipating throws you know not trusting space in the defense which leads to him holding the football and it works out well for him because that offensive line there is is just that good you know that he can hold the ball back there and make those plays also I think getting away from running him really hurt what he was able to do throwing the football it kind of presented more complicated uh coverage structures and again that this is not all on him you know he’s learning a new offense last year and that offense was really I think kind of overly simplistic and didn’t put him in the best position to be successful like when you watch that off last year was pretty much like oh we have AJ Brown we have um what’s uh go what’s the the T Dev Smith Devon Dallas scard we have these three guys that can win our offensive Line’s awesome like Jaylen go figure it out for us and so there’s like a lot of off schedule stuff and it’s just and again that’s that’s very applicable in today’s NFL but it’s just hard to live like that all the time and that’s kind of what they were doing and they they didn’t run him as much he went from being the the quarterback that ran the most had the best running percentage in 22 to the lowest or the worst in 23 so it was a pretty dramatic shift and it really really hurt that offense I thought cuz like they went from kind of this it was a really brilliant it was like such a brilliantly Innovative play now everybody in college done it where it’s like it’s a Zone read to a pass concept to a run so it’s really truly triple option but kind of structured for the NFL and it’s just and he ran that masterfully so he got a a ton of completions he got a ton of rushing yards and then he took that out of the offense and I think it really hurt him and I I again I think the other thing there with the contract is they always when they were good so over the last three or four years they relied on being the better roster and they were often the better roster for a very long time and now because of the contract structure I think it’s starting to level out a little bit in terms of guys they can resign their Right Guard from two years ago who was maybe the best Right Guard in football leaves and goes to Detroit um you know they have to fill that need with a rookie uh uh Tyler Steen from Alabama right so it slowly kind of eating away and you look at the receiver depth at the moment it’s nobody it’s a bunch of rookies because they can’t pay anybody outside of that first room so um a lot and as a result to your point a lot of responsibility falls on Jaden uh or Jaylen excuse me to uh to make plays and to me I’m just not confident enough if he’s not running the football like he was in 22 that he can do that exclusively as a passer yeah the way Howe Roseman their GM has built it is really interesting because theyve paid most of their stars and it’s like hey these guys worth it will fill it out and I actually don’t necessarily disagree with that strategy um it’s like hey you want know who wins football games AJ Brown Devonte Smith Jaylen Herz um they they’ve got guys that can help you win games and then you fill in the rest with rookies and and you know bargain guys um we’ll see though because that also just eliminates your margin for error in terms of depth like you said we’ll get to the receiver room in in just a few um I think the actual most interesting discussion in terms of rankings because that’s what’s really important Logan where are you on podcast rankings uh is between Jaden Daniels and Daniel Jones presuming that Jaden is qb1 here um is he better walking in day one starter than Daniel Jones which feels like I’m sure there’s a lot of commanders fans listening that are like yeah Daniel Jones sucks and it’s like well he wasn’t very good last year he was awesome two years ago and let’s not underrate him oh I know get for the commanders fans it’s also like well it depends is he playing us or not but you know for for Jones like he’s a solid NFL like starter that you can win with definitely not a win because of guy right um and by the way his contract kind of reflects that like he got he got paid a lot of money but percentage wise cap uh to the cap compared to like what hurts got or what what you know burrow and them are getting it’s it’s not the same so long story short or long long question short would you take for 2024 a rookie Jaden Daniels sight unseen or what we think Daniel Jones is GNA be when you phrase it like that um I’d probably take Jaden Daniels I mean I I have a lot I’m I think I’m higher on Daniel Jones than a lot of people um because I think he does some stuff really well especially like uh in 22 or whatever that was when they made that playoff run yeah you know like like the ability to run that keeper game get to the perimeter kind of work the high low over there like that’s a skill set and that worked and his ability to scramble for first downs like I think he the way they called games for him really raised the floor of that offense and again I don’t think he’s you know a top 20 quarterback in the NFL but I was I think I was higher on him than a lot of people um I just think when you say if I want a guy to start my franchise or to kind of build my franchise around going into this year it’s got to be Jane Daniels like there’s almost no question in my mind Jane Daniels on a rookie contract the a the accuracy the mental acuity all the potential seems to be there I think probably I think Daniel Jones is probably better at playing quarterback in the NFL right now because he’s done it for what is that four years and so or five years well that’s kind of like yeah that’s kind of what I’m asking was like a situation agnostic right I tell you you need to win a game or win as many games as possible in 2024 that you don’t get to keep this quarterback long term the contract doesn’t really matter you’re just like fantasy drafting for 2020 for except for for real football not for fantasy points and Stat accumulation like which guy do you want if I was the OC and if I was the head coach I’d want Jaden Daniels like I yeah he just gives you a lot of opportunity to kind of say hey we can design a quarterback run game I think he’s competitive I think he’s smart and that might be biased by what I’ve seen through the OTA mini camp period like I’ve just been really impressed with how he processes stuff and how he works and that level of professionalism is important to me you know and having seen it live in a Living Color coupled with what he did last year College it’s like I’m going to take my shot and it’s a little bit of an upside play but not by much you know what I mean it’s like you know I’m projecting him a little bit but I don’t think it’s like you know it’s like Daniel Jones is a is like a bare minimum starter almost back up at the NFL level I think Jane Daniels by the end of this year we could be talking about him as a top 17 top 15 guy in the NFL which would be fantastic for this organization but I I definitely think his ceilings much higher than Daniel Jones for this season and I think if cliff and the staff you know does a good job in him and developing him like I think that’s the guy think he’s going to be better I don’t disagree I mean I think they’re different as Runners I think Jones you can run comfortably more often but I also think you probably want to because I think Jaden’s probably better from the pocket um and probably that’s what it seems like right now like I mean that sounds crazy cuz Daniel Jones is like you know he’s played quarterback in the NFL but when I watch them operate from the pocket and again one’s in mini camp one’s in OTAs and the other’s from live living bullets but but he’s just smooth in the pocket man like in a way that I thought might be there but to see it is like wow like this is pretty cool so I think it’s a it’s a combination of things with him and um I think that’s why he’s a second overall pick because of this kind of potential and this kind of athlete and what he gives to your offense in year one and um and again yeah I’m taking Jaden Daniels I think yeah uh not to mention uh Daniel Jones was a top 10 pick it’s it’s because David Gelman uh wasn’t very good at his job which why he doesn’t have it anymore uh so there’s that uh yeah no I I I agree with you that it I would lean Jaden but it’s very close for 2024 yeah obviously if this is a three-year situation it’s not remotely close if you factor in contract it’s not remotely close all that kind of stuff it’s just like Daniel Jones has a four-year Head Start of experience and Jaden Daniels hasn’t actually put on NFL pads yet uh for a training camp practice nevertheless a real game and still the fact that it’s close uh is a testment really to both guys uh but yeah it’s uh I think I would take janon for 2024 as [Music] well to the running back’s room where there was big offseason shakeups uh big names going in and out of basically every room so to recap the state of play here the commanders obviously have Brian Robinson and Chris Rodriguez still but they add Austin Eckler to the room the Eagles make the biggest splash they have saquin bar to go with Kenneth gainwell will Shipley uh the Cowboys bring back Ezekiel Elliott to go with Rico dle and Duce vaugh cool uh and then the Giants have Devin single ter uh Eric gray Tyrone Tracy and uh jwn Corbin so I think this is another Runway victory for the Eagles uh with saquin at the top of the room um this is kind of also funny because this is the one place where the Giants we’ve given them like hey respect over the last couple of years cuz it was saquin obviously injuries are are a big deal um you know I if we want to make it not necessarily like scheme agnostic the way the Eagles have run the football over the years and if you want to even like kind of add Jaylen Herz to this um their running game has been the best for sure but I think from a talent standpoint they’re the best I’d probably put Washington too and then Dallas and New York can fight over whatever’s left at the bottom cuz man those are those might be two of the worst running back rooms in the entire league yeah no I’m with you I think um yeah I mean obviously it’s Philly because it’s not only saquon Barkley but Kenneth gainwell is a very productive starter in the NFL and I think you had a guy like will Shipley and again he’s a rookie we got to see what he does but you know he’s that perfect kind of scatback slot mismatch weapon Jet Sweep bringing speed and explosiveness to your offense so I think it’s I would probably go them as well and I think the other thing that needs to be factored in and you can’t get them double points for this but their offensive line is tremendous so whoever they put back there as long as the offensive line stays healthy is going to be crazy productive now we’ll see what that looks like without Jason Kelce a lot of what they were able to do over the last couple years was kind of use him in these gunr run situations almost like a pseudo fullback so they’re able to get to overloads and do some interesting stuff at the second level because of that athlete but I look at the bookend tackles I look at the guard on the left side um Landon Dickerson and they’re going to be able to move some people around and the idea of getting saquan actually space to play with because I’ll say this about zaquan as a running back he’s okay as a playmaker he’s Dynamic so what do you want to give Playmakers you want to give him space and if I can do that running the football just handing it to him like that’s exciting and one of the things that I I remember watching uh you know about Philadelphia’s Run game is it’s like because those guys are so good those tackles are so good at creating horizontal push it’s almost like a punt return you know what I mean like that’s kind of how it feels when you’re watching so the idea of saquon doing that again with Kenneth gainwell with Will Shipley I think definitively that’s that might be the best running back room in the NFL obviously I I think you know obviously you know Detroit has something to say about that um San Francisco probably has something to say about that but it’s it’s a very Dynamic group and it’s one that um as as an offensive play caller I’m sure they’re really excited to kind of get those weapons on the field and and maximize them for sure and I think you know obviously when you talk about past pure running back in the division Brian Robinson’s got something to say about that I think Washington comes comes on strong here like as a runner as a guy who has vision and the ability to one cut get downhill execute Gap Zone everything like Brian Robinson’s really really talented as a runner and we’ve seen his hands like he’s he’s more developed as an overall player than the NFL has seen because we thought that was going to be a huge part of what they did last year and he just wasn’t as involved in the past game as we imagined but we see you know in mini camp there’s back-to-back plays where he’s running up the seam making tough catches as a receiver and he’s not the receiving back Austin Eckler gets that Chris Rodriguez is a tough Runner so like I I think that that room and then by the way Jeremy McNichols is played a lot of football and if he winds up making this team is another like third down type like depthwise I think Washington probably has the deepest room in the division it’s just you don’t have a saquin Barkley who is a different caliber of playmaker but I think I think it’s actually not like I think it’s closer between Philly and Washington than it is Washington and whoever you want to put third I agree and that again me kind of hyping up Sequon Bartley and this Philadelphia running back room is not a slight on Brian Robinson and I think Brian Robinson’s a heck of a football player I really do I mean I think he he he isn’t there yet but he definitely has the athletic potential to be top five guy in the league you know and I just think about like last year if they would have used him more effectively run the ball more we’re probably having a conversation about him being a thousand plus yard rusher maybe a 400 yard receiving guy and it’s like oh shoot he’s leading the NFL in all purpose yards like what the heck’s going on and I think he’s got that skill set and I’m really excited to see what he looks like in this Cliff Kingsbury offense so that’s not to say that there there’s this great disparity between Philly and Washington because I don’t think there is I think when you look at what Austin Eckler does I think he’s pretty Dynamic especially with the ball in his hands the pass protection the strength that he runs with and I really like Chris Rodriguez and I don’t know if the rest of the league views the running back room this way the same way we do but covering the team every day it’s like I think I think they could be really really special I’m going to give the edge to Philly just because they’ve got you know who I think one is maybe one of the best athletes at the position in sequan but it’s you know like I said maybe they might be the best uh running back room in the league I definitely think Washington’s top five I really do I think they’ve just got the right pieces in place and if they play to the level of the talent and everyone stays healthy I think we could be having a much different conversation by the end of the season yeah the the this version of this uh or the 2025 version of this could be really interesting depending on how Robinson plays this year um and how Cliff utilizes those guys um Dallas uh there was a lot of talk about their running back room this offseason they’ve always had a really strong running game to support Dak um and that’s been a key part of who they are and last year they let Zeke go uh it they tried to rely on Tony Pard it didn’t really work because Pard is probably better as a complimentary piece they never really rep placed Zeke and now they don’t have Pard and they bring Zeke back two years after they were like he’s not really worth it anymore um and I do I think like Zeke is still an interesting and useful football player like yeah he doesn’t belong out of the league but he’s just not the explosive player he was as a younger guy like he took a lot of hits he had a ton of carries at Ohio State he had a ton of carries his first couple years he’s not as dynamic or explosive he’s still an effective route Runner he’s still a good pass blocker and he still can run the football a little bit but they just don’t have any kind of Dynamic playmaker in that room they don’t have any kind of Versatility really in that room because Dow is like a bigger guy isn’t he um you know and then you got Duce vaugh who’s like the little Kate you know Darren sprouls type of whatever that is um and their offensive Line’s not as good as it used to be so I that that to me is a very unimpressive room like I like Devon single ter for New York like he’s he’s been a really good back in Buffalo but you know that that that room is not very good either so how you want to rank those two so I’d probably honestly I’d probably go uh the New York Giants running back room over and it’s just because the depth the pieces get me a little bit more excit excited so obviously Deon single ter I think is a very solid player and I kind of think he you know I don’t know if there’s a big big enough difference for me between him and Zeke uh in terms of production I think um you know he catches the ball well I think he’s a good physical Runner and then I think you look at Eric gray a guy who at the Senior Bowl a couple years ago really impressed as like a third down guy who’s a kind of a Squatty body and then maybe one of my favorite kind of sleeper picks of the entire draft was Tracy uh Tyron Tracy Jr from Purdue he’s a converted wide receiver ran a 43 something at his pro day so 62 210 but has some absolute juice so I just say like in terms of pieces and you know I think the the backup running backs in uh in Dallas are pretty solid too like you mentioned Rico da or Ric da like I think he’s a good player Duce vaugh I like this film coming out but under side I just think the backup pieces and the electricity that a guy like um the kid from Purdue can bring gets me a little bit more excited about what that offense can be in uh in New York in terms of the running back room now you want to talk about offensive lines like that offensive line up there is is tough so it’s going to be hard to run the football but as again as a play caller as someone that that wants that’s excited about the weapons there I’d probably be a little bit more excited about the New York Giants but really it’s kind of like 6 in1 half dozen and the other like Bea’s in the OD Beholder there because they both don’t look great yeah um so I’ll I’ll agree with you I’ll put New York third uh Dallas sorry you’re fourth here all right let’s let’s go right into the offensive line then because these obviously all go together and then we’ll get to wide receivers and tight ends uh in the final 15 of the show so offensive line wise there’s a again a ton of movement um the biggest uh movement I guess in the offseason is Jason Kelce retiring but Philly had a plan like cam Jurgens was playing for them last year at Right Guard he played well he moves inside to Center um you know he they knew that this was coming cam Jurgens was always their plan they’ve got Dickerson milata and Johnson all locked up uh they get Tyler Steen uh who was practicing last year as well um and kind of knew that his time was coming uh and then they also add some interesting depth as well Makai beckon uh coming in uh as as a backup there so so that’s kind of the Philly offensive line situation obviously Dallas uh continues to remake things they draft uh Tyler gon to replace Tyron Smith Tyler Smith is currently listed as their starting left guard they lose Tyler botes at Center and uh my not Cousin Brock Hoffman is currently their Center uh botes obviously coming to to Washington Zack Martin still there Terren steel at right tackle uh New York New York’s interesting on paper like we’ll rank these all in a second just giving the Run of play here but Andrew Thomas has been good uh Germaine El minor uh and then John Michael schmidtz the is is the rookie Center John ran they bring in in free agency and Evan Neil big giant shrug Emoji there and obviously we know the Run play in Washington we’ll see who’s at left tackle whether it’s Coleman Lucas or Scott aligi botes cosmi Wy will be the other four barring injuries so Philly still the Kings here uh in the division even though they lose Kelce and move some things around yeah I think I think because not only do they have a really talented kind of starting group but they always are just restocking and retooling you know they draft Trevor Keegan you know they drafted I mean daaka who is again like the greenest of the green projects but is one of those guys who’s just a total freak physically um Lincoln vaki from uh you know Australia another kind of Jordan milot clone there like they just do such a good job because their offensive line coach is so good so you can take a shot on a guy like Makai beckon because you trust your offensive line coach to develop him so I I think like just from a talent standpoint from a physical gifts standpoint this is the group that gets you so excited obviously Jordan milata I think is probably a top five left tackle in the NFL Landon Dickerson’s probably top 10 guard cam Jurgens remains to be seen but I think he’s going to have an he’s going to be outstanding in that role and I think his physicality and his movement skills are about as close to Travis K or chose to close to Jason Kelce as you’re going to get obviously Tyler Stein went through his lumps last year but I I guess offensive line coach to get him right and then Lane Johnson no kidding is probably the best right tackle in football and I don’t think it’s even close you know maybe the best offensive lineman in football and you’re kind of talking about him and Trent Williams in the same breath maybe Tristan wors so uh I I think just the depth the coaching the type of professionalism they have at those leadership positions it’s they got to be number one like I don’t again like they might be maybe outside of Detroit maybe one of the better offensive lines in football so you know I I think I I definitely think Philly’s the the group there yeah Jeff statland is the most important guy in that room the the o line coach who’s just been tremendous for decades and decades uh in Philly and you know if you listen to the Kelsey podcast to new heights like you hear Jason talk about Stout over the past couple years and just how great of a coach he is and um the the development emphasis they have in that room too so like they’re ready when guys go down or when Jason Kelce retires like they do long-term planning in Philadelphia really well and part of that is having the right coaches in place to make sure the next guys are ready and I agree with you Philly’s still the top I think it then becomes interesting because I could make some kind of case for really all three teams on an upside level um I think you have to look at realistically what do we expect from these groups and I think it probably comes down to Dallas and Washington here and it’s hard for Washington because when you don’t know you’re starting left tackle uh that’s a that’s a tough sell but also you know if you look at Dallas they have a rookie starting at tackle right now so what do we really know about about Tyler gon and his ability to play left tackle in the NFL meanwhile the best left tackle in the division not named Jordan Milad probably playing in New York so yeah I don’t know how do you rank him oh God it’s tough um it’s tough so I just want to talk about Dallas real quick I think Taran steel is a serviceable right tackle Zack Martin who again is probably a gold jacket type guy on the offensive line is is starting to Trend down a little bit and again like that’s always tough to talk about but it happens for everybody like La you know last year you just look at kind of I know pff’s not a perfect metric but you know he was all blue grades so 90 plus grades his first whatever like eight years in the league and then all of a sudden last year he’s down in the yellow um so is he declining uh Brock Hoffman interesting is Cooper BB gonna start there I don’t know if you want to start a rookie Center Tyler Smith really good player very very good football player so I think the the pieces there three of the four three of the five are really really really established and then Tyler gon starting left tackle is is maybe the most interesting storyline for this team because he was one of the more raw prospects again physically tall long good athlete all the stuff you want to play left tackle but like not there yet so you’re going to start a guy who kind of like from a quarterback perspective everyone said oh this guy needs to sit for a year like Tyler gon was the offensive line version of that so I think they probably have the most talented group but like you said they there’s a big question mark there in terms of um the left tackle and and I might I’m not saying there’s a question like oh you know like is he going to be is he going to be bad like he might not be serviceable so then who’s going to play left tackle for you you know because he just was so green and and potentially not ready to play not very talented but um I think the other at that point like do you move do you move Tyler Smith outside and and play someone else a guard like there’s there’s a lot of questions there and so but I but I do think in terms of just Talent you look at those name Tyler Smith Zack Martin even though he’s maybe declining a little bit one of the best football and then uh Terence steel um while started the season last year sluggish I think figured it out near the end so I would say like that group just from a talent standpoint feels right I know there’s some big questions but the other groups also have pretty significant questions kind of across the board you know and so I think you look at the Giants they they paid you know a couple guys in free agency the guards to come in and kind of fill out some roles obviously we know how good Andrew Thomas is but Evan Neil man has been bad he’s been bad football and like you’re asking him to come in and play with guys that were kind of rotational you know um ran was kind of a rotational piece in Green Bay he’s going to be the starter now he’s okay you know I mean filling a role for you for sure so I don’t know how confident I feel in that um and then you get to to to Washington where I’m I’m higher on uh on Wy than a lot of people I think cosm is an excellent football player um be there was just a guard ranking that came out that the third best guy in football so like you know we talk about oh when’s Washington get a star you know whatever do they you know they haven’t had anybody since sheriff and in Trent it’s like well they got the next sheriff and his name’s Sam Cosby right and I think he’s he’s tremendously fun to watch he had a great year last year um but again like questions like you know bi to Center I feel very confident in but left guard and then left tackle and I think when you just weigh the questions um you kind of say like that’s probably the worst group again I think it can come together but and I’m I’m confident in the in those three guys I just mentioned badish cosmi and Wy like I know I might be in the minority there with Wy but the other two spots big question marks for me again if if they said oh Lucas is going to start I’d say oh I feel great about that because I think Lucas is a serviceable left tackle but you still left with the guard spot and then I think you look at New York and they have so you’re just to be clear because they bring in Alig grti but Alti was a rotational P like in a lot of ways Al’s like runion in New York right yeah I think they still got to figure it out yeah figure out like what going to do there and and again and I think Alec Grady is a fine football player but it’s like there’s still some question marks about who’s going to be that fill that roll out and I just think couple that with the left tackle again I like three of them but I think there’s still some questions to be answered there and so I’d probably give the slightest Edge to New York but it’s really like again much like the running back thing with Dallas and New York we just talked about kind of Beauties in the eye of the beholder there yeah I think I’d probably lean Washington third because cosm I think cosm’s like a GameChanger he you can you can do stuff with him that you just can’t do with a lot of other people I know uh you know they’ve got Thomas in New York but he’s also been so he’s been hurt nonstop right um so I’d probably I’d probably lean Washington you know we’ll have to see how Al of gredy is I think that’s the that’s the big question right now uh is like do you have one spot or two that you’re trying to figure out I think Alec gr’s definitely going to be their starter but how good is he because he was a rotation piece even if he did fill in admirably uh in you know the Super Bowl uh there in in Kansas City and then you know again like Lucas he’s fine but he has limitations um or him I would I would take him over Evan Neil probably right now for sure you know I don’t disagree with that I don’t disagree with that um so yeah I would I would lean Washington I think I’m with you that Dallas is probably still second um it’s they’re definitely agressive Dallas also feels the most Boomer bus like if they got gon right if Smith play takes a jump like that could be a really good o line Smith was good last year Smith was great last year but it’s like you still like it’s a guy who is a little inconsistent does he is he still he’s no longer you know bodish was there to help him last year as an experienced Center like what happens and what does that do for you know Alig gry at at Center I mean I guess he was playing next to a really good wi in Creed Humphrey in in Kansas City it can only help him out you know yeah so all right to the outside we [Music] go the wide receivers and tight ends uh Logan any particular order you want to go here as our resident tight end no I mean I I don’t really care it’s all all people catching the football um this this is this was the most challenging one for me because like I thought everybody’s got pretty good skill position players obviously I think you know New York’s a little bit H you know what I mean so I’d probably going to put them forth but in terms of the other groups I think you could make Arguments for all of them that they should be the first you know the the first group so I mean we can start with let’s start with Philly and then kind of go through him from there yeah well I was going to say do we want to separate wide receivers and tight ends or do we want let’s separate let’s separate that might make it easier to distill like what’s actually going on all right we’ll save the best for last tight ends you’re last all right wide receivers I think Phillies Philly’s clearly got the best high-end stuff right AJ Brown’s the best receiver or he and CD right there is is one two in the division but Devonte Smith might be the third guy um you know Terry’s obviously going to want word there uh but Devonte Smith is is clearly the best two in the division I think the only argument against Philly is the depth situation which we did reference earlier in the show we’re like Paris Campbell is a threat he’s really fast he’s really big but has been kind of underwhelming in Indie um now comes to to Philadelphia they drafted your guy Johnny Wilson uh who’s an interesting guy of course Britain cvy has like been a good pump returner but how is he’s a receiver been fairly you know whatever um whereas like Washington New York like maybe there’s a little bit more or Dallas you know they’ve got some some guys down the depth chart where you’re like oh that guy like kavante Turpin is a weapon as the fourth receiver in in Dallas um in a different way than than Philly’s got down the depth chart yeah I think that’s the big thing about Philly like you just alluded to like obviously they’ve got Joseph Nagata who’s again like a a fine player but you know not had not like a big role in any offense but you know I think his develop in Jacob Harris is this physical freak uh but you know never really hung on anywhere outside of special teams they got John Ross the guy that used to hold the record for the 40th the combine they’ve got some pieces but it does kind of feel a little bit like the land of Misfit Toys you know everyone’s kind of trying to reclaim you know some form of glory and sometimes that works they come to Philadelphia and everything works out but I I do kind of agree that when you look at Dallas like Brandon Cooks I I think he’s a great football player Jaylen Tolbert good football player CD lamb good football player um you mentioned Turpin like they’ve got some weapons there that that I think are a little bit more like what’s the word like a little more established a little bit more secure they make you a little bit more confident and so I’d probably give the slightest Edge to to Dallas just because I think I don’t disagree again would you take lamb or would you take Brown God it’s that’s to me like it’s such a stylistic question you know Brown gives you like the ultimate trump card he’s like the true X it’s like go Wi on a vertical like do it you know what I’m saying but actually often does really tremendous work out of the slot like that’s the thing is like he is the ultimate X but or like he’s a big X but he’s also like the ultimate power slot where CD actually his his best work is out of the slot as well and maybe not quite as good if he’s got to beat press man on the outside as an X probably lean brown but it’s not it’s not by much yeah and I saw again like stylistically like for what what I want on my offense like I just love that for a quarterback that here’s a guy that’s going to win and CD has that CD has that again from the slot like he’s damn near uncoverable and they do a great job of forming stuff and putting him in good spots using him very similar to how Kansas City used Travis Kelce but in terms of just raw horsepower I’d probably lean brown but again it’s such a stylistic question you know like what kind of offense you going to run and and you know the same bucket yeah 100% and uh and so and I think the other thing is like when you look at Washington you know obviously Terry Jan like there’s some interesting pieces here but I don’t think they have the high end and I don’t think they’ve got the total depth that make you go oh this is going to be a game-changing revolutionary group so I’d probably give the slightest Edge to Dallas to me the big question is like how much better do you think Devonte Smith is than uh Brandon Cooks Brandon Cooks and if you think he’s way better then you go the other way and I I don’t really have a strong feeling about that I love Damonte Smith I think he’s a really good football player but is he you know Head and Shoulders above Brandon Cooks probably but does he off outweigh the other three guys on the roster there right yeah I to me Dallas and Philly are kind of 1 a 1B Washington is three and then New York is andless Malik neighbors is just stupid as a rookie which is possible definitively fourth um like way forth um because behind M or behind neighbors they just don’t have a lot they have some guys that you know obviously had some production in the league but from a consistency standpoint it’s just not there um you know obviously we hoping Jan can have a bounce back year obviously we’re hoping Terry can have a bounce back year um Luke mcaffrey we’ll see what he is as a rookie diami obviously uh has been what dami’s been zakus like they’ve got guys that can play um you know really one through six uh you know deir Birds had an all right uh career like but really one through six with with brown being more you know rotational guy who’s probably more useful as a pure vertical threat take the top off off of play action but mostly a run blocker Zaki has had some some solid years and then Jameson Crowder just he’s somehow gets open um you know but I I think the depth don’t don’t confuse familiarity with depth uh because I would I would think probably some Dallas and Philly uh people would say similar things about their guys um New York neighbors has the chance to be like top five receiver in the league very soon um he’s he’s got that kind of juice Slayton has been really good at times but has kind of been inconsistent and injury prone W Robinson same thing I I love W Robinson but yeah but it’s it’s it’s your point like like I love W Del Robinson really good football player but like slot guy and again like does that outweigh the fact that slayton’s been a little inconsistent hayatt has shown that he’s got this great fast ball but like can he do anything else so there are some pieces there but I don’t think there’s anybody that’s like this dude is I think Malik neighbors could be the ex receiver which might help slate in terms of production but the other two teams even Washington you know they’ve got they’ve got a dude they’ve got Terry they’ve got CD lamb they’ve got AJ brown right dudes and then they’ve got pretty serviceable twos like I think you know if you remember back to when Johan was a rookie like how productive he was and I can’t wait to see what he looks like in this offense especially because it looks like he’s working on some of the fundamentals of like beating press and doing some of that stuff so I just think that the two there is better than anybody else and then Malik neighbors hasn’t really established himself so I think that’s a pretty clear definitive list there for sure all right so that leaves the tight end position uh Washington of course has s Senate Bates as their top three godt uzoma calcatera the three in Philadelphia Dallas has Jake Ferguson Luke scoon maker pton Hendershot and then the Giants have Daniel Bellinger Theo Johnson and Jack sto uh and your boy Chris manher still floating around too as their fourth tight end Chris manher what a great tight end name seriously fantastic um gosh that’s a tough that’s a tough group cuz I do think I think the best tight end in the division is Gard I don’t know if there’s anything any push back on that from you um and I think they’ve got pretty good depth there the problem is that offense or at least as it existed you know whatever it was um you know two last year didn’t use a lot of tight ends they just kind of you know were out there and I think got was hurt a ton last year which definitely hurt them as well yeah he was hurt and I do think uh karti is a good player but has not done a lot you know uh Jacob o um you know uh I can’t say his name but he was a pretty high draft pick in uh Denver very athletic but hasn’t really developed maybe I don’t know after looking at this I don’t know maybe I feel a little bit better about um Dallas because I think Dallas has and again Dallas doesn’t have like the sexy you know they don’t have the the Dallas scart but they do have guys that I think like Jake Ferguson’s very solid Luke Schoonmaker very solid PT henders shot very very solid and they just in that offense they don’t need to be World beaters and all three of those guys are going to be very productive so I think because of depth and because of godard’s injury last year I’d probably lean Dallas ever so slightly and I feel good about that I do think that when you look at the depth here in Washington compared to the depth in Philly maybe you feel a little bit better about this group you know like having uh John Bates I think people sleep on productive and effective he is in terms of Run game stuff Zack Herz uh has looked great during ota’s a mini camp and you know when he’s healthy I I think can make a petition to be definitely a top 10 tight end in the NFL and then um Senate obviously Armani these guys that have all this athletic ups and we’ll see what happens obviously he’s got to come together but I don’t know like there’s something about that onew punch at the top for Washington that gets me really excited yeah I to me Senate’s the wild card here if Cate comes in and is like a stud then you’re like oh well Washington probably has the best group uh in the division cuz Bates is just like a blocking y third tight end who rumbles and catches a few balls but mainly just blocks people’s faces off like sweet um but I generally like you can’t count on that especially as a rookie so I would probably agree with you that Dallas is just like one through three they I it almost feels like they have like a low one and two really solid twos right Ferguson being a lower end one and then the next two guys being like really really solid twos um so you wind up being plus there um where Philly is I mean it depends on how uzoma is like ‘s had some years where he’s really really good so I don’t know I I probably still lean Philly I’d probably go the upside of Goddard then Dallas then Washington then New York um but there’s definitely room for fluctuation in this division depending on especially how a few young guys play Ben cinate probably being the the biggest one and the giants like I love Bellinger I think he plays the position in like the best way possible violent he catch football well theel Johnson like athletic freak but how’s he going to be at the NFL level they so they do have some pieces there in New York that get you excited but again I think it in some ways like it’s really interesting doing this exercise because it kind of reflects the the position around the league you know like there’s the guys there’s the KD there’s the Kelsey there’s the um Mark Andrews you know like those top top guys that are difference makers in an offense and then you get kind of in that middle tier of tight end where it’s like nobody it’s really schemed to dep and really philosophy dependent and I think that’s why like Dallas is interesting because like those guys are elevated by scheme but they work and they’re going to they’re going to be productive like they’re going to have probably 50 catches Ferguson and then the next guy’s going to have 25 or 30 you know what I mean like they’re going to be a very productive group even though they’re not going to be maybe as dynamic as like Goddard for example so it it really is just kind of perspective and system there’s no you know there’s no guy here like that there are in some other teams but or like we got to talk about Sam lorta too you know Sam laporta is kind of in that top tier now also but there’s there’s nobody like that at least to my eye there’s some very very good football players so no doubt ‘s probably the guy who was that at one point but he uh obviously years past that Prime in Philadelphia when he was that dude in the NFL all right that is our offensive positional rankings we’ll hit Whats up fellas I appreciate all the content keeping us viewers up to date and engaged thank u
B-Rob is SEVERELY underrated. The dude is like a bunker buster missile. He just plows through people. If Kingsbury uses him correctly, we will be an offensive juggernaut and he will be a superstar. I've said it since we drafted him. HTTRWFTC4LIFE!!
We do not really know how good Terry and Jahan can be because they have not had an all star QB throwing to them. I loved Taylor and Sam but we are not at another level with Jayden..i think.
I think it’s crazy to say Dak is easily the better QB between him and Hurts. There highs are pretty similar in the regular season but PLAYOFFS!!! Hurts damn near carried the Eagles to a superbowl. He outplayed Mahommes for the majority of that game
