Should Tampa owe it to Stamkos to keep him?
you know it’s a good question uh my answer from my experience is no and I’ll explain this and I’ll explain this from a romantic version of course every fan in Tampa loves Steven stamp Coast they want they want him to stay there they want him to be there forever they want them to live there this is this is what they want and the story book ending it happens very few times you know if I’m the coach here and he’s my favorite player then I’m sitting there and I would coaches get married to the player they want to have that guy there by his his side they want him on the ice they know what he can do they believe in him they trust him Management’s got to think on a totally different level I think this is where this comes in and actually Billy Garen taught me and uh he said listen you’ve got to be able to make the hard decisions and you even if they’re unfavorable even if right at that moment don’t drive but you you really got to do what you think is best for the team I mean he’s thinking probably Hey where’s the Loyalty where is it where is it but Julian brisb has got to think what’s good for the Tampa Bay um Team what what’s good for them now like I mean do do we have to start to rebuild in a shorter way so we still stay competitive we might not be at the at the the top of the Heap right now but we still got to be stay competitive and we need that money to get younger players because we got no draft choices and to to be competitive and I think that’s where in Li is the problem so I’m saying they have to make that tough decisions what happens when you keep the players too long they say I kept them too long should have retired should have got rid of them that’s what not the case what they want to do here they got to think intelligently and think that if we’re going to be doing a semi re build we’ve got to start now Steven stamp Co is the unfortunate guy that might have to go
Steven Stamkos has spent his entire 16-year career with the Lightning and expressed his disappointment with the lack of contract talks prior to the season. Playing out the last of an eight-year, $68 million deal signed in 2016, the 34-year-old forward is about to become an unrestricted free-agent. So, does Tampa owe it to the captain to keep him? TSN Hockey’s Bruce Boudreau shares his thoughts.

Where would you want to see Stamkos finish his career?
If you don't trade away declining players while they still have value, your rebuild will last longer and be more painful.
Like to see Stamkos in Detroit with his old boss.
Yes
That title sounds like someone needs to go back to school.
Stamkos was a ppg player this season and 41 goals ffs get rid of stammer and then replace him with who? You aren’t going to get a better deal than him…. and on top of that if they don’t get anything for him, then you have to replace 40 goals, that was on a discount contract and hou have no assets coming in for him.
I think this is the beginning of the end of the Lightning if they let him walk
Tampa doesn't want their cap situation to look like Toronto's lol
maybe they would still have draft picks if they didn't the tanner jeannot trade…..one of the worst trades ever
then why did they bring back mcdonaugh ?
