Washington Capitals Draft Terik Parascak in 2024 NHL Draft
the pick is in the Washington Capitals have made a selection in the 20204 NHL draft I’m Rachel Donner we are joined by Dan homy of lock on capitals to break down the Caps selecting trik parisek with the 17th overall pick presented by indeed there is no I in team but there’s one in indeed and that’s the hiring platform you need to build yours to upgrade your job posted indeed.com lockon so what do you think the Caps had to accomplish in this draft and did they do so with this piit I think they did they wanted to address the goal scoring that was something that was a deficiency on this team uh if we take a look at T he is considered an offensive Powerhouse uh his biggest offensive strength through 43 games or excuse me 43 goals and 103 points through 66 games that he played at the point uh that I got the records there uh his skating ability is identified as an area that could use Improvement particularly his stride but I think that ultimately what the capitals were looking for was goal scoring uh Alex oetkin got off to a slow start so I think that down the pike uh he is going to be a key addition so uh I’m a big fan of the WHL as a development league and I think it’s a good spot for him and you’d be in good shape once he gets to the caps but like what is he have to accomplish over the next couple of years to get to the caps in good shape well the biggest thing that he needs to work on is uh some of his skating and defensive play and uh being responsible not only when he has the puck but when he doesn’t have the puck and that’s kind of a common theme with a lot of the younger guys uh in the draft this year is working on being engaged on both ends of the ice whether they’re shooting the puck or they’re trying to get involved defensively I think that’s the biggest thing that he has to work on also his skating is one of the biggest areas of improvement so where do you think the Caps are uh in their kind of transition into almost a new era here and do you think that he is a good part of that plan absolutely I think he is if you take a look at what the capitals did last year with Ryan Leonard selecting him at number Eighth overall and Andrew Crystal I think that they’re positioning themsel to get younger and faster and it’s interesting it wasn’t something that um what kind of came naturally it was something that was based uh on necessity you saw a lot of these older players that had been on the capitals for a long time Nicholas Backstrom who stepped away from hockey indefinitely uh Koozie got dealt out so this team had to position itself to get younger so with a draft and the drafts in the future here this team is positioning itself to get younger you mix that with the great talent that they have and Hershey winning back-to-back CER cups I think it’s a winning recipe for success in the long term for the capitals all right for more on the Caps tune in to locked on capitals here on the locked on podcast Network your team every day tck paras’s an incredibly intelligent four but Kenneth smarts carry him all the way to the NHL I’m had kakes from locked on NHL prospects ready to give you the breakdown Paras a 5 foot1 180 pound right shot Winger who played for the Prince George cougars in the WHL as a WHL rookie he managed to put up 42 goals and 105 points and 68 games and paras’s one of the smartest off- Puck movers in the class he’s always first to open Ice he’s always first to the slot always first to loose bucks and he can both shoot and pass at a high level although as detractors will say that he played with some of the best talent in the WHL and kind of benefit from that as zackman showed this season with the Edmonton Oilers it takes skill to play with skill Paras skating is pretty bad though and he’ll need to learn to be more of a play driver at the next level but even without working on these things I think his smarts and his skills should be able to carry him all the way to the NHL and help him become the NHL’s next Tyler to Foley for more on parac and all things NHL draft follow And subscribe to locked on NHL prospects on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast and for continuing coverage of the 2024 NHL draft subscribe subcribe to locked on NHL on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day
