NJ Devils Trade Akira Schmid & Alexander Holtz To Vegas Golden Knights For WHAT?!?

friend thank you very much and on to the next big announcement on the day and this one this one stings this one really stings it come across the wire trade alert trade alert we have another one we have acquired forward Paul Cotter and Vegas’s 2025 third round pick for Alexander Holtz and Akira Schmidt we have acquired forward Paul Cotter in Vegas’s 2025 third round pick for Alexander Holtz and Akira Schmid if you guys are anything like me when you saw this originally your jaw dropped and you were in a State of Shock disbelief anger sorrow tons of words can describe the feeling that came across my body when I saw this my phone immediately started blowing up and I mean I just I’m just at a loss for words guys so a after the initial shock wore off and I sat there and disbelief for a little bit again if you’re anything like me the first thing you thought was who the is Paul Cotter and why did we send Akira Schmid and Alexander Holtz to get him so we look at the the stats on this kid CER 62 213 PBS on Vegas he played 76 games last season seven goals 18 assists for 25 points with a minus 11 he was drafted in 2018 in the in the fourth round by Vegas then you just look at his career stats you know he play only played seven games in 2122 played 55 games in 22 23 and then 76 games last season for the knights registering those 25 points and he was not a fixture in their Playoff lineup he was healthy scratched so to retrace this all somehow someway Vegas convinced Fitzy to send them airmid and Alexander Holtz for Cotter and a third round pick and I’m stunned I’m stunned I am furious uh I could not be more disappointed in a move and I think at this point this firmly will push a lot of people if you were on the fence about Fitzgerald I think this should hopefully two hand shove you onto the side of Fitzgerald needs to go immediately someone take the keys Fitz is drunk this deal is absolutely garbage absolutely garbage we traded a promising goenda kir Schmid and a very promising potential top six guy in Alexander Holtz the sad reality here the sad reality here is that while this trade I think is absolutely terrible value for sure for the New Jersey Devils I mean this seems like a complete fleecing for the Vegas golden knights if I was a golden knights fan I’d be shooting off fireworks this is this is phenomenal stuff from their GM Alexander Holtz never fully got a fair Shake here everyone was hoping he was going to morph into that top six guy potentially a 30 goal scorer and a lot of the fans were rooting for him he was in Lindy’s doghouse somewhat in Green’s dogghouse Tom Fitzgerald himself slandered this man during a press conference because he was questioned about Holts in his playing time and all season long they all heard the chatter and for whatever reason Holtz was firmly in these people’s dogghouse and Fitzgerald slandered the kid publicly talking about how he has to do X Y and Z and you know basically that he’s not living up to what they needed from him to the whole world in a press conference while Holtz was one of the main pieces rumored to be involved in a trade package to get markstrom last year that ultimately fell through one of many Fitzgerald’s failures in recent times but this one takes the cake for me Holtz and Schmid I mean come on man come on everyone was rooting for Holtz for the most part everyone liked the kid it seemed like he really could eventually be that top six guy 253 goals beautiful shot and everyone was rooting for him and we all wanted to see him under Keef fulfill his potential and I think that was there for the taking I really do in a new system a new voice I think this season a lot of us wanted to see Holtz get more opportunity and see what he really was made of unfortunately the New Jersey Devils had other plans and Holtz has been moved and it’s kind of the same story in my opinion when you go to Akira Schmid listen did he play great last year no no he did not every goalie we had struggled for whatever reason primarily our defense was swiss cheese we were giving up three on twos two on ones breakaways tips in front dirty rebound goals The Defenders are standing there freezing just looking at these guys in amazement while they put the Loose Change in the back of the net and no one did in front of our own net all of the goalies were left out to dry this is for my man Stan SST 6601 I will apologize a little bit to vanich he was terrible but the defense really did him no favors and the defense didn’t do any of the goalies any favors including Akira Schmid what I will never forget is that in the 2023 playoffs against the Rangers vanich stunk the join up we were down two games to nothing after two home games being down 02 in a series when you when you have home ice is pathetic especially against our biggest rival of all time the Hudson River rivalry New York Rangers they come in our building and win two and then Lindy says screw it hit the panic button we’re going to Akira Schmid Schmid goes into the garden gets two big wins evening up the series stunning Rangers fans and their players we come back win a game five at home take the lead unfortunately we lost in game six on the road at the Garden but then we come back and win in game seven at home Schmid saved the team period period his stats in that first round were absolutely phenomenal and he had a shut out in game seven the deciding game seven was a shut out the kid had ice in his veins that series and he obviously looked terrible against Carolina the next series soed vanage I believe this Akira Schmid move is just another another unfortunate incident that the Devils kind of inflicted on themselves Schmid I always thought had great potential and again after that Series against the Rangers I thought he was for sure the next guy and I think we kind of jerked him around after that you know we we struggled with Carolina they went back to vanich which I would have never done at that point after Akira won the Rangers series I would have just rode him the rest of the way and saw what happened he got jerked around in the Carolina series and then coming into the season that just ended the 23 24 season he was kind of jerked around as well and I just feel like he did not get a fair Shake here for what he showed and what he provided and I do think Akira Schmid could be a legitimate goalie in this league one day I really do and so for the Devils to send a promising potential top six forward and a potential starting goalie in airmid to the golden knights for a third third round pick and a fourth line Center that couldn’t even crack their Playoff lineup congratulations Fitzy you really outdid yourself here I hope this is the final straw for many of you a lot of people have more patience and faith and hope and whatever you want to call it towards Fitzgerald I firmly disliked him for quite a long time and I was trying to be patient and trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and to see what he was going to do this summer and hopefully while while it wouldn’t have wiped the Slate clean in my book hopefully would have given us Devils fans something to look forward to to next season to truly believe we were contenders or at least trying to be this move is just completely baffling completely baffling two promising prospects that have played in the league it’s not like they’re just minor league guys that have never seen NHL time there’s a body of work there for both of them and they both have showed promise and so to trade both of these guys guys to Vegas for a third round pick and a fourth line Center that was not a playoff player he was watching from the Press Box this is absolute Insanity it is nothing short of insanity and I hope that fans are incensed and enraged there’s a couple blind fits Loyalists and followers on this page good luck to you guys you’re never going to sway me I don’t care what you guys say you could say I’m crazy this that and the other thing I don’t care because this is my channel this is my show and these are my opinions and a lot of you do share similar opinions to me not everyone has to agree with me and that’s fine share your opinion I I love that the conversation you don’t have to agree with me if everyone agreed with me that’d be pretty damn boring but to say that I’m crazy for coming after Fitzgerald after this move I hope everybody backs up and just says you know what this guy might be right what the hell is Fitzgerald doing what is Fitzgerald doing and then shout out to this user CJ Toro on Twitter this was just one of the many tweets that came across my screen shortly after the trade was announced and I thought this sums it up perfectly this the whole debacle that was this trade and they they at is at cjt devil on X whenever you have the opportunity to give up two encouraging prospects entering their primes during your contention window for a 4C and a third rounder in the subsequent season you just have to and CJ nailed it on the head two prospects coming into their Prime when you when you believe you’re in the contention window for a fourth round Center that did not play in the playoffs because he was healthy scratched and a third rounder in a subsequent season what are we doing here what are we doing and at least to me one of the most encouraging things is while I was going crazy and texting with a bunch of my devil’s fan friends and trying not to break in my house one of the encouraging things that I did see was that people were absolutely roasting this post from the Devils on Twitter X as they should as they should I’ll just go through some of the responses so bad man what the this trade’s terrible Vegas fleeced us wow Fitzy this is a total L WTF is this fits why but why though this move sucked guys Holtz first Marino now Holtz send fits home now he’s done he is done what is your problem this is a fireable offense then some sort of meme with Ryan Reynolds I don’t know what movie that’s from that’s a very young Ryan Reynolds there shout out to Ryan Reynolds absolute business tycoon and mogul thanks to the iconic game seven versus the ranger smid WTF is fits on a frown face and so on and so forth it just keeps going of with just comment after comment of the Devils getting absolutely roasted and the trade makes no sense the trade makes no sense I believe both of the guys were mismanaged by the team horribly I really do and I hope they do better and thrive in Vegas because they both got short Changed by the devils in in my opinion both Holtz and Schmid were messed with toyed with not used properly and if I was them I would want out of the out of the Devils as soon as possible too maybe this was just a deal to get them out of here because they asked for trades but either way even if that is the case they both demand it out you absolutely must get something better in return than next year’s third round pick and a fourth line Center that did not make the knights playoff roster what the are we doing here it is blatantly obvious to me at this point that there is no plan Fitzgerald is completely lost and we’re just making moves randomly with no sort of vision or goal in sight we’re just making deals by the seat of our pants Helter Skelter baby you get a potential starting goalie and you get a potential top six forward give me your scraps give me your table scraps and this is a good trade for us I don’t think anyone could be happy with this trade the comments online are overwhelmingly just completely roasting the Devils I saw a couple people they must be the Fitz loyalist trying to say that this is a great deal this this trade is absolutely terrible I can’t remember the last Devil’s trade that got me this worked up it just doesn’t make sense and I’m at a loss and then we drafted another goalie guys I’m just going to keep dropping videos and most of them are probably going to be negative unfortunately I was really hoping I was really hoping that I was going to be able to be positive and there was going to be you know trades that I loved and and draft picks that I loved and I was going to bring the pom poms out and I was going to get on here and be like yeah guys yeah that couldn’t be further from the case I at this point have no idea what’s going on and I have no reason for optimism at this point drafting yet another goalie with another pick this garbage trade I now have literally no hopes for anything at this point really I I’m kind of waving the White Flag here I hope we still sign some guys in free agency but it looks like this is just going to be a disastrous off season for the New Jersey Devils one that started off somewhat promising with hiring Sheldon Keefe and getting marstrom and and then it just took a complete left turn from there couple minor moves that made nothing I did like you know moving Marino to free up cap space but what is drafting a goalie with the the second round pick we got from Utah and then doing this absolutely garbage trade where we get rid of Holt and Schmid for Paul cter let me know in the comments what you guys think about this trade you know let me know what you think about anything else going on I mean is anyone still here going to defend Fitz Dr I’m sure there’ll be a few of you have any of you now seen the light of day and are you joining the dark side now have you seen what the writing on the wall and what’s going on and have you now officially detached yourself if you will from Tom Fitzgerald because this guy needs to go this is just completely unacceptable he’s driving the car blindfolded we are heading nowhere fast I couldn’t be more pissed I’m absolutely devastated and this trade announcement
