and we are back at it again ladies and gentlemen another trade going down in the NHL no rest for the wicked and this demidov Sims goingon to have to keep getting pushed Logan Thompson goenda golden kns has been traded to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a couple of third round picks I love this trade won’t be a long breakdown because I love it there’s not too much to say about it makes a lot of sense for both sides in this in this case especially for Washington as the capitals give up two third round picks the 83rd overall selection in this draft a third this year and a third next year for Logan Thompson who’s on the last year of a league minimum deal as an expiring UFA 27y old goenda pick trades going on over here but 83rd overall pick and 2025 third yes very good all right so going and there’s even the Kevin Hayes trade that we didn’t get to earlier on but Logan Thompson 27y old goenda came to Vegas has been doing great things ever since if you look at his career number actually his entire career was with Vegas so there you go 2.66 goals against average through 107 appearances 912 save percentage as well 5833 and 12 is his record he’s had some crazy numbers especially in 2223 with a 915 safe percentage when playing in 37 appearances in 23 24 a bit more responsibility on his shoulders at 46 appearances still 254 and five numbers were maybe a little shakier but now in Vegas they have already Aiden Hill of course they’re still trying to figure out what’s going happen to Robin Leonard but even Robin Leonard never comes back you have Aiden Hill as your future starter you have a couple goalies in your system already and the Washington Capitals who just traded away Darcy keer we’re we’re saying you know are we gonna be rolling with Charlie lingren no why not go out there get a good cheap golender who has shown the ability to be a starter Logan Thompson comes in here to Washington can be their future starter as well at a very cheap aav at least for now and probably moving forward and all it costs them is two third round picks and they have an abundance of that they still have two seconds two thirds and their own fourth fifth sixth in this draft so I love this trade for Washington they need a starting goldendarkness uh stock in uh in in in Thompson so I think they want to lingren is a good 1B option but Vegas but but Washington will want to give the greater opportunities I would think to Logan Thompson while Vegas they were pretty dried up on picks they get the Islanders third giving them a selection here they had they had a first and they had no second no third no fourth no fifth now they get a third here in the pick from the Islanders and they also get a third next year when they have no first in 2025 and in their goal tending situation they have Aiden Hill sign on for one more year at 4.9 they were probably thinking if Thompson’s going to walk for nothing anyways and we have and we’re committed to Hill may as well go uh and get two third round picks for him Patera UFA group six UFA Aiden Hill G be expiring in 2025 same for Robin Leonard then even in the system you have a few younger goenda Seville and there’s even then they have Oscar danco in point I don’t think Dan is there anymore but just to say it makes a lot of sense for the capitals as they get a starting goal tender for relatively cheap after having moved out Darcy keer so if you were to think about it if they moved out keer in 2/3 for p zubis and Logan Thompson that’s incredible that’s great that’s a great bit of business for Washington plus they even are they even acquired acquired Andrew man Japan not long ago so now they have to figure out some salary cap they’ll probably have enough space once they throw Nicholas Backstrom on ltir so it’s not a big issue you still have over six million to play with but now your team looks very different the Washington capitals on July 1st or even come season start look very different to start 202 24 25 than they did for 2023 20 to end 2023 24 excuse me so you have a top six and now includes manaan and P Dua you don’t need to have hendrik laier and Conor M Michael over their heads Mir shenko is gonna be coming up sooner rather than later you have a much better goal tending tandem in lingren and Thompson than lingren and I don’t know Phoenix Copley so there’s a lot more stability in in in Washington while also Vegas hey getting a little bit of value back for a guy that probably would have been walking for nothing anyways so has two third round picks going to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Logan Thompson also just touch briefly on the Kevin Hayes trade which went down as the Penguins Get essentially Kevin Hayes in a second for future for nothing so they take on the capit of Kevin Hayes and get a second round pick for you know just doing them a favor so I love that for Pittsburgh as well Kevin Hayes will fit into the hole that Jeff Carter leaves and they get a second round pick for their trouble so great deal great little piece of business for the Pittsburgh Penguins great little piece of business for the Washington Capitals everybody’s happy loan Thompson signing here autograph session no longer there in uh in in Vegas few pick trades going on the Canadians drafted the son of Saku kivu which is great but a good offseason here for the capitals thus far for two thirds 83rd overall pick in this draft and 2025 third of Washington in 2025 Thompson he has one more year on his deal correct on Logan Thompson yeah he has one more year at 7.66 and then after that he’ll be an expiring UFA after that should yes you should Dan yes you should be for two third round picks you should very much be that would been a good option for the Leafs on a cheap aav Logan Thompson would been a good option for the Montreal for the Toronto map leaf that would have been a good option yeah Washington is already gotten better this offseason Zub manapan and Thompson in two top six forwards and a starting goenda very worse as very worse he’s a good very good 1B Tampa Bay rumors heating up with Jake gensel maybe with that money they have to spend now unless things are going with Steven Stam Coast if Stam Coast doesn’t end up working out there’s a lot to think about so I’m sure we’ll be live again soon ladies and gentlemen I’m trying to get through
