I don’t care how, sweeten the pot with futures, retain 50% salary, whatever. Just rip the bandaid and move on from Krug. If we’re in contention by the deadline, we’ll have plenty of cap space to beef up our D as needed.
I think Perunovich finally has a full season to find his groove and gets a chance to quarterback the 1st PP the way Krug was supposed to.
And this is my hopeful opening night roster if Dvorsky and Bolduc can make the cut.

We’ve tried, problem is that NTC. The only way we can get out of this one will likely be a buyout
I was all aboard the Perunovich hype train as he came out of college but his injuries have already stunted his career. We should not, under any circumstances, commit to term with him until he gets a full healthy season under his belt. Luckily for us, we’re entering a 3 year re-tool period where winning will take a back seat. These next couple of years the team’s goal is not to be competitive, but to burn years off contracts of older players and develop younger players
Torey Krug isn’t the problem, Perunovich is the problem. He’s a BIG problem.
Scott Perunovich has one massive problem with his game, and that is that he doesn’t shoot the puck; EVER.
Last season, he literally shot the puck less than once per game. He still hasn’t scored a goal in the NHL, and for a so-called ‘offensive defenseman’, that is completely unacceptable. The problem with a one-outcome player like that, is that EVERYONE on the ice knows what he’s going to do when he has the puck so opponents just dare him to shoot, and he won’t. I don’t know WHY he won’t shoot the puck (he has a pretty good shot), but until he starts shooting at the NHL level, he’s pretty much useless to the Blues.
For people who think I’m overreacting, here are the average shots per game from a few elite defenseman in the league (just some examples):
* Roman Josi 3.2 SPG
* Cale Makar 3 SPG
* Quinn Hughes 2.4 SPG
Perunovich HAS to shoot the fucking puck. He has to do better.
