STEVE YZERMAN GIVES A DETROIT RED WINGS TRADE UPDATE: WHAT’S NEXT?

[Music] slow day today guys a look I have been in a really weird spot because now I have to transition away from waking up super early to make videos on trades and draft picks and signings to maybe trying to formulate a show that’s actually worthwhile to listen to even though there’s really nothing going on anymore yeah that’s kind of a big Whiplash right yesterday we had huge signings and a trade and a few days ago we had all the signings but now it’s Peak off season baby there’s nothing going on outside of the few minor signings that go around the NHL so today what I wanted to do was talk about the speculation and the updates as to what the wings could be doing next we have to expand on the momentum that Steve Eiserman has built from yesterday he traded away Robbie fabry he acquired Vladimir tereno in free agency Lots going on with the wings but this may not be it let’s go over onto this article published on Detroit hockey now by Kevin Allen from 2 hours ago yeah that’s right 2 hours ago this was the latest Steve Eisman press conference and it goes over how the Red Wings could potentially make another move it is possible here let’s go out there and review some of the comments made by Steve iserman I would say there’s another move possible we would consider that I don’t have anything on the go at the moment we kind of tally up the goals in and the goals out now I don’t know if he’s referring to like specifically oh Robbie fabri scored 18 goals last year so we got to get that amount of goals to come back into our team I don’t really think that’s what he’s talking about I think more so goals is in like okay what is the team looking to accomplish and you know that’s kind of self-explanatory there if Steve Eisman makes another move Kevin Allen writes it could be a trade currently he has just over $20 million left in cap space he may need every dime to resign his rfas though cider Raymond bergren and valeno we have four rfas today and we can estimate on a shorter term deal and on a longer term deal Eiserman said set aside a certain amount of money in the budget for them and as free agency went along and we’re trying to get our own guys signed we had to tweak things a little bit but it hasn’t changed what we think those four players are going to come in at we will get contracts done with them it’s just a question of when and what term we do on all of them now I like the confidence here out of Steve Eiserman and that’s not really something that’s new right of course we recognize how confident iserman has been in his own vision and building his team the guy doesn’t falter he doesn’t have any moment of weakness when speaking to the folks in the media but it is interesting to me how Steve Eiserman is adamant that not only not only are the wings going to sign Raymond cider and valeno but he’s also confident they’re going to sign bergren and with all the rumors popping up over the past few months here that jonan bergren is disappointed with his role on the team how he wants to be more of an impact player how he wants to be an NHL player and he doesn’t want to be in the AHL doing his thing over there it does kind of strike me as interesting how Steve Eiserman seems to have a plan for keeping this around especially when you acknowledge that I mean just a few weeks ago we were talking about rumors saying that he in particular wants out because if that’s the case then like is the guy going to want to sign an extension I don’t know if he wants to leave then I’d be surprised if he did but either way Eiserman seems confident they’ll be able to get it done let’s continue with some of the other quotes here the article then goes out there and talks about how the wings could use some more scoring and how when it comes to the new guy in town Vladimir tereno he is going to add to the team’s goal total just looking at it internally we expect a little bit more out of Raymond and to Brink it his shooting percentage for his career was down a little bit last year the great scoring chances he had hit the bar and they went out we think that’ll contribute a little bit more I think his expected goals will turn into goals next year and his numbers will go up the article also says here that the wings anticipate Jonathan Burren to claim a roster spot okay so there is our verdict and that he does have 20 goal potential on the back end Eric Guston will contribute to some offense lost with Shane gopar and Jake Walman ultimately hopefully we can keep a few more out of the net and maybe it Nets out in a positive way now I’m just kind of reviewing this article and the quotes here I think Steve Eiserman is literally talking about goals in goals out he’s talking about the players and their amount of goals that they score that’s kind of the rhetoric that I’m seeing here out of these comments what an interesting way to go out there and analyze a hockey team but either way Stevie Y is not closing the door here there’s a lot of cap space left on the table still some guys to resign but there is the potential to make some moves and maybe add more to that goals in total that he keeps on talking about here when it comes to Eric gust him being the Shane gos to spare replacement firstly I want to say this as well good on Shane gos to spare for get the money that he got in Carolina he went back to a team that he’s familiar with with a team that let’s be real here he could be more competitive with the Carolina Hurricanes in the short term than the Detroit Red Wings so I don’t really blame the guy for that especially since the Hurricanes were willing to offer him a bunch of money heading into 2027 so good on Shane gos to spare for getting that done for himself Eric gustofson has had good days in the past when it comes to producing offense and being a Power Play quarter back although heading into next season you got to wonder who is going to be that power play quarterback is it going to be guson or do they want cider to take that role instead having cider on a power play with terasen cocaine Lin and Raymond sounds interesting but having Guston there too is also an option so you can let me know your thoughts in the comment section below what happens with the Red Wings and their power play situation and also when it comes to cvy indicating that trades could still be possible what trades are there that you want to see do you still want to go after a guy that’s been kind of percolating around the rubber Mill for a while now like the Trevor zises or the Martin aes’s Kent Johnson’s Cole Petes there are a few guys that you could say offer themselves up as opportunities for teams to take advantage of but after acquiring Vladimir tereno and rounding out that top six Lin Raymond de branet and then you have terao Kane and JT Comer do you really need to add somebody else there I will say a second line center with defensive capabilities sounds nice especially since teraso and Kane playing together might be a nightmare defensively for the defenseman and Center on that line but either way there are options and Steve iserman indicates that they are not done yet so this has been your Detroit Red Wings trade update of course I’ll leave a link in the description if you want to go ahead and read the rest of the article yourself let me know your thoughts in the comment section below how do you feel about the Eric gust said power play situation do you think it’s going to be his power play to lose is it cider’s opportunity instead how do you feel about Jonathan bergren being penciled in as a maybe 20g goal potential guy which I think is a pretty big ask out of a guy who had played in the AHL the majority of his career especially one who’s been apparently super unpleasant to deal with because he wants out and he is unhappy with the way that he’s been treated etc etc there’s a lot of nuance there but what are your thoughts on the burger and projectability how do you feel about trades who do you think it is that Steve Eiserman should go out there and think about acquiring heading into the next few days here let me know your thoughts in the comments section below about all these Detroit Red Wings news and notes I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye [Music] [Music]

  1. I know there has been talk of trading Berggren from within the Wings organization, but I don't know how dead set they are about it. He is a VERY smart hockey player, who is likely to put up a lot of points, but he's also highly averse to the dirty areas, shies away from physical play in every respect, has virtually no interest in breakout plays, and generally treats the defensive zone like a mythical unicorn of legend. I'm not going to say that he'll never turn things around, but that's not the sort of player prized by Stevie Y.

  2. I feel like it’s going to be hard to not only replace Ghost’s goal scoring, but also his power play quarterbacking ability. Hope we can find or raise up an equal or better quarterback.

  3. This pos just murdered the wings. He gave away all their point producers (ghost, Perron, sprong, fabbri, walman) but then he keeps all the plugs who actually should be moved like Fischer, petry, holl. What a clown. This organization is cooked. Another lottery season what else is new. If people actually think an aging Tarasenko will fill the void from all the points lost are just as delusional as the yzerclown. 20 win season max.

  4. I still think its funny that Tarasenko was Debrincat's replacement in Ottawa and now he's in Detroit with Cat. I don't want Seider to be the PP QB, he already plays 20 to 22 minutes a game against the leagues best, give the QB position to Gus.

  5. I know people get down on Zegras…but I’m just saying…Zegras, Kane, and Tarasanko sounds like a pretty badass second line. Plus…Zegras is young, there’s a lot he still has to figure out about life.
