the greatest team of all time the result of his moves seven players that were on the vgk roster at the end of the season are no longer golden knights Pavo DV and kayen corac resigning vgk replacing Logan Thompson with Ilia samsonoff Paul cder was traded for Alexander Holtz and Akira Schmidt Akira Akira uh Victor Olson signing as a free agent from Buffalo and hear me out a lot of depth pieces as I’ve said before I’m still concerned about scoring and I’m really concerned if these are players that fit into Bruce Cassidy’s system that’s where I’m going to begin yeah for sure before we get in direct grades I think that’s an important discussion Point um we like Schmidt as a holds at what he has done in the beginning of his career and olivon pencils out to possibly being better than a 20 goal score and there’s a history with Jack eigel there you look at the team look at the Stanley Cup winning team the that team really we talked about this on a couple episodes during that season I feel that team lacked an identity until around game 65 or 70 really right after the trade deadline once Ivan barbashev came in the picture I’m not saying Ivan bar was the created the identity but that was just kind of when everything fell into place and then you look at last season’s team you only the only turnover was Riley Smith and barbashev that was it there was obviously more turnover later in the season but coming in you had everything in place and now all of a sudden you have six free agents that are gone plus two new skaters dorfy of bran who are going to get a chance to become everyday contributors and then obviously a change in a major change in the goalie department so there’s a lot of questions and your comment was are these Cass these guys will they fit in the Cassidy system we’re gonna find out we’re gonna find out question that’s a major question are they going to fit in are they going to play the style that he wants them to play are they going to put up with South Beach Bruce in the locker room as well uh vgk I feel still has a couple of moves left I’ve been going uh just back and forth with a lot of fans about me saying that I didn’t think that Kelly McMan was prepared for what was ahead what lied ahead because I don’t know if there was a major plan in place save Mitch Marner you know coming to Vegas Steven stos and like the big names that they went after the shiny new old toys and I felt as though that they peac Meed this roster together I’m going to die on my on my uh golden knight sword by saying that right now this roster and all these moves are held together by the same duct tape that got the Cleveland Indians to Milwaukee in the movie Major League when they took that little prop jet over so I mean I was that Anaheim Duck Tape go ahead what’s that Anaheim Duck Tape it’s funny you said that I was I was actually looking up uh Trevor egress in hockey DB when you said that because there’s some passive discussions that you know maybe maybe the golden kns are kicking the tires on Zess and I mean he’s a name we’ll give him that he scores a lot of fun goals will definitely give him that um minus 21 minus 24 and 21 22 and 22 23 but then a minus one last season but he missed uh over 50 regular season games so ZR has been a 23 goal scorer twice in his career 38 and 42 assists and then last season was injury-prone so who knows I mean that could be what’s coming you know I don’t know I don’t know yeah there’s a lot of cloud chasing going on right now when it pertains to Jonathan maro’s departure of course now the company line he had to go ask for that fifth year blah blah blah again this will be the biggest void for the Vegas golden knights a major void for the golden knights that perhaps is overlooked is the loss of Chandler Stevenson can’t deny it no I mean it’s yes and no I mean Stephenson was an absolute gem he was the the equivalent basically of a waiver type of deal it was a trade that was nothing to the organization but basically Stephenson was free money he comes in as a fourth liner immediately elevates himself and uh going back to his season when he arrived in Vegas 24 games and puts up just four points in that stretch but again just kind of waiting to see who he is and then all of a sudden The Following Season 41 games and 22 points okay The Following season 20 uh 51 games and 35 points then he goes 64 65 and then last season 51 points in 75 games and we were dogging Stevenson last year he looked lost at times but at times he did he still had a 50o season but how many games how many games has he played the past three seasons uh each season 160 235 245 something like that okay he’s reliable he’s reliable and the season before that he played 51 of 56 of the of the shorten season yeah no he’s always been there that’s what I’m saying and he’s also 30 years old so we’ll see you know he’s so old they’re so they’re so stinking old these guys you he’s in his prime compared to marchas so depending on what logic you’re looking at there oh my goodness Stephenson listen there’s a couple things to say there number one he is Mark Stone Center can he perform without Mark Stone we’re going to find out a major loss it’s a major loss in my mind the more that I go back and assess some of these moves and of course oh yeah they made some very fair offers very fair offers to the I mean if we’re gonna grade let’s let’s grade the situation how could they oh that’s WTF later okay go ahead let’s grade let’s grade that into individual situation right now Chandler Stevenson goes from making 2. what 75 in Vegas something like that and he gets 625 times seven if I’m not mistaken so good good for him yes is Chandler Stevenson let’s just say the golden knights had a blank checkbook and they decide okay yeah Stephenson we’re g to give you we’re g to match that call it six million Hometown discount is Chandler Stevenson A6 million discounts okay fine five but I would grade letting Stephenson go for nothing as an a I mean he’s not worth he’s not I don’t know if he’s a $6 million doll player let alone $6 million to the Vegas golden knights so yeah mccm read that situation well and other situations Alec Martinez going to Chicago there’s no way he was getting $4 million with the golden kns future endeavors good riddens the other uh future Endeavor loss that really stings it again in my mind would be the loss of Michael amadio because amadio did a lot of the intangible things he mucked it up when he needed to I just felt that amadio was a guy that you could just plug in there and I don’t know what went on there uh with vgk but for some reason do I don’t think they were I don’t think they were sold on him they were sold on a audio at being a player within this organization at South than $1 million aav and that is the reality of how Kelly McMan viewed Mike amadio as far as compensation goes looking at amodio’s Stats here so this is interesting amadio 73 points 27 or EXC me 73 games 27 points 27 points the previous season and 67 games but amadio is a player who plays up and down the lineup he’s I don’t think amadio is type of player that’s ever going to find himself on anyit wait wait is he a 200 foot player oh he definitely is a 200 foot player there’s no doubt about had to throw that in there for Vegas mean I don’t think he’s going win any awards for his 200 foot play but he’s a 200 foot player that can play on the top line if you need him to he can play on the fourth line if you need him to he he’s the player that slots in on that third line that gives a third line an identity and you look at the Players now that have come in to replace him you got you got olivon possibly 15 points last season 51 games healthy scratches who knows what’s going on there but he could be a 30 goal scorer you got Alex Holtz who I really do like and 28 points last season but a lot of limited minutes he got buried like a lot of people in New Jersey said the the ceiling is much higher there so I guess maybe the question is for olivon I think yes they’re just betting on the come again vgk to look at the upside of these players is there a way that maybe the golden kns could have held a AIO and not done the allson deal I don’t know but I mean again allson took one point 075 million or something like that so I guess let’s talk about him AIO was it right for the gold Knights to let AIO walk at uh at $2.3 million I think that’s a little heavy honestly I think it’s a I think I’ll give mccrimon a a solid B+ in that situation because I love a AIO I love everything he brings but given the situation and the cap constraints that they don’t have in Vegas um it it was the right move letting him audio walk I don’t there’s a free agent besides marcheso where I’m like man they really should have found a way where’s vgk a little over north of a million left one two I believe is the number cap friendly still working so enjoy it while you can folks 1.3 pck pedia says they’re going to have major changes so I’m just waiting for that announcement that should come any day now uh the draft it’s just too soon to to grade and all of that debacle and I don’t know I can’t but overall like the collateral damage I’m going to give MC km a d on that because I think that’s going to hurt lot of future perception lot future endeavors Tony oh image oh we’re just about character guys they better not talk about character guys I’m tired of it okay enough of that BG’s character got questioned a lot this week and it’s right Felisa okay and uh we’re not looking for any clout we’re not the clout mongers but we’re trying to be real about this right now a lot of unknown I compl to kman so far on his off on what he off you like draft besides the draft you said what now I complimented him and not and not not bringing back a audio that’s Martinez and Stevenson so let’s get big McMan where’s the McMan poster in that room can you pan a little to the left uh okay so uh right now I mean with a lot of unknowns the grade would have to be incomplete okay because there’s still I think a couple of moves ahead but you’re you’re saying from a totality perspective right now correct yeah M we’re grading McMan isn’t that rating M Crim’s offseason moves I wasn’t sure if we were breaking down individual or just the entire season or in the enti incomplete but if I were just again asked to give them a grade and a kman it’s got to be a c it’s got to be a SE I think I still believe that they had bigger their sight set on bigger things and it’s still could happen but right now I I can’t I can’t give them I can’t give mccrimon and the maid man A B I can’t go higher than a c oh listen let’s acknowledge reality for a second the gold kns have lost 80 something goals from the greatest team of all time that’s that okay exactly exactly the greatest gold Knights team of all time per Kelly McMan not locked on per Kelly mccrimon has basically been dismantled to a degree the core is still there but to a degree there are 80ish goals off this roster 90 something assists off this roster The Replacements now are Victor olivon who had 12 points I think last season and Alex Holtz who had 28 points last season and betting on the come of dorv and bran maybe Howen chips in a little bit more and some of the other guys whatever um but the golden knights they’re missing all those points and it’s not just the points they’re missing maybe olivon bran and Holtz will replace 42 goals that there’s a good they should replace 42 goals but it’s not just the 42 goals on paper it’s the Difference Maker it’s the fact that you have that Winger on the power play who’s going to find a way to get you know what seven eight 10 Power Play Goals whatever marcho power play total was last year I have no idea what it was all’s pretty good right on the power play from everything that I yeah he’s got a great shot but so what I mean let’s you know incomplete I mean we don’t know we don’t know and again dude got a healthy scratch on a on a saber’s roster that wasn’t exactly crushing it you know what I mean so we have a new we have a new member on eg1 and that’s olivon probably perh the Ikea line your your Ikea line comment Tony people are digging that on YouTu by the way so definitely drive that one home but okay well use that listen I’ll grade mccm and then we’ll move forward here or whenever we’ll decide to move forward but I’m going to go a D+ right now just because of the change that’s happened all the goals that are gone and the fact that that differen maker is also gone forget how this played out through the media and the comments that are made we’re just simply looking at the situation and then now we can take a deeper dive about the Golden Lights unwilling to give Jonathan marcheso the all-time scoring leader in so many vgk categories that additional year but then you look on cap friendly for hopefully the rest of today you look at the fact that Tomas hurdle is signed through 2930 that’ll that’ll make him 29th the 2030 season is when is when that contract is up so hurdle’s GNA be 36 years old hannahan got that extension rightfully so but hannahan got that extension 30 seconds after they’re banking on those two an awful lot you’re banking a lot on Hurdle and that concerns me that concerns okay uh we have to Chris and Chris Jr show oh before we go on here so is it true that the waterless boat races will replace uh Formula 1 at some point on the Strip that would be much better wouldn’t that be so entertaining or they should run them one day out there that would be hilarious on the F1 track how come get to promote wiress boat races and skid plate racing I I don’t know it would bring a lot of like publicity to that sport it’s just the best it was highlight of the night such a great it was long how a little Chris enjoy it did he oh he he loves it we you know there was a lot of action there’s a lot of crashes and stuff more crashes in all the r besides the waterless boat racing but a lot of a you had a couple Racers almost getting a fight one dude uh didn’t like the lane he got he got basically squeezed on the ball so dude wrecks the other dude one guy gets out of the car and there guy like literally circling around him in his car and guy’s about to throw his helmet and had some drama we had some drama little known factoid back in the day when it was Las Vegas Speedway park before the mega you know Motor Speedway was there I was the marketing director out there for the little oval that we had and we had the drag strip and all that right so someone asked about Kurt Bush Kurt Bush was underaged driving out there I think he was like 15 maybe younger maybe four I don’t know but as soon as his foot could reach the pedal he was behind the wheel and racing and one day they finally figured it out like I figured it out a while ago but okay as vk’s goal tending improved over last season a lot of things will depend on the health number one of vk’s tenders especially Aiden Hill uh golden knights signing the free agent Ilia Samson off if vgk can rotate these two goalies um they’re serviceable I think that they could definitely be competitive I feel Samson off is going to be better if the vgk coaches do not overplay him they tend to go with the quote hot hand they seem to just go with a goal tender just in so many situations where you would think that they’re just worn out oh my goodness uh the rotation was I think the biggest issue that I had uh last season with the golden knights and the coaching of the colender the number three goalie is Akira Akira Schmidt I don’t like this guy at all as you know because 2023 he beat the Rangers four games to one dud his numbers 1.38 goals against and 951 save percentage this guy as we say in the city is a stinking bumb sorry I had to get that in there no he’s not a bum that’s a compliment that’s a compliment I got that is a compliment coming for me that’s a compliment I mean Schmid you look at his you you talked about the good that regular season when he when he took your Rangers out that regular season 213 and a 922 save percentage that’s pretty darn good spread out over looks like 18 appearances gets 19 appearances this past season with the New Jersey Devils uh 895 and a 315 goals against now that Devil’s team definitely took a major step backwards so we’re not g to not gonna go too deep into that but let’s look at the totality of the golden knights goalie situation right now Aiden Hill when he’s on he can be one of the best goalies in the league I said that last season and then health issues changed all of that and he was not one of the best goalies in the league he was a very average goalie at best for many stretches with his injuries and other drama and other all sorts of things going on so you look at Logan Thompson who obviously is no longer in Vegas replaced by samsonov and samsonov that’s going to be a very bizarre situation you have again two years ago a goalie who who who was a 919 in a 233 uh with the Maple Leafs going uh I don’t know what when lost record doesn’t matter I don’t care but then you look at in 2324 that dips to an 890 and a 313 goals against so which version of Sam sonov do the Vegas golden knights get either way he’s appeared in 40 or greater games in three in three of three of the last three seasons so that part is good right there going deep you want him to play that many uh do you want him to play that many games I don’t mind him playing 40 games if Aiden Hill is getting the other 42 but a Hill is not going to have 42 appearances next year there’s your problem right there um the other guy the other guy gets the the new other guy gets a chance I think that’s kid you’re referring to I hope Akira Akira as Tony is calling him right now um Akira Schmid so or Schmid it’s actually Schmid I think is a proper okay whatever yeah either way we don’t have to be perfect we’ll call him Aira we’ll call him AK Kira so we’re just entertainers here the situation there Yuri Patera was not looked on highly in the Golden Lights organization as far as getting the keys to being a starter at the NHL level anyone wants to argue that goal look at his numbers and then you won’t they gave up on him they gave up on him only 100% gave up on him and so hope does well in Vancouver and you know breaks it off in the Golden Lights bum when he comes back here so you look at the the totality now you have is Sam sonof better than Logan Thompson not a there’s not a world that exists where I would ever concede that but you have a goalie who at least on the golden Knight side more Less in Shawn Burke’s side who is more of his variety it’s a bigger body goalie covers more of the net doesn’t move around as much right up Shawn bur’s alley right up sha Burks alley and then you have schmeid who is hopefully GNA get more opportunities than than Yuri Patera so you have three goalies now who can ham it up depending on what happens here here’s a concern right now so this was a oneway deal for schmeid okay but he still waver exempts meaning he can get sent down if I’m reading this correctly I asked I asked you about that because it said one way de we talked about that and 800,000 clams right like whatever oh the bu’s fine um but what does that mean one for for the fans so if I’m looking at this correctly on on cap friendly schmeid has eight NHL games of waiver eligibility left meaning once he hits 60 games he would have to clear waivers if the team wishes to send him back down to Henderson there’s not a world that exists where someone isn’t going to claim him off waivers so the gold Knights will have to make a decision once he gets around that 60th game okay what’s G to happen here two years in two years you’re saying in two the way Golds do this it might be in seven years but yeah let’s assume it happens this season let’s say it just happens by December shm’s GNA get his his uh 60th career NHL appearance and now the golden knights have to make a decision if they want to have an extra roster person you know they want to send some put them on L ltir is an option too there you go so at some point next season long story longer the golden kns could lose schmeid via waivers if it is a depending on the situation as far as if the golden knights have to have an additional forward dress or whatever is going to happen so short term on paper I think there is I don’t want to say Improvement because there’s no no way Samson off greater than Logan Thompson but the way the organization viewed Logan Thompson oh the way this the way the organization viewed Logan Thompson samsonoff gets a fresh start schmeid obviously might have a little more faith in him from McMan in the front office who definitely makes some of these decisions as well versus Yuri Patera so from that perspective the golden kns might have some more tools in the tool belts okay if I read this correctly uh Aiden Hill career-high in starts 35 starts of course appearances career high okay career high career high high the previous year 27 as well with the Vegas golden knights yeah because he was the right direction he was a platoon player but yeah that’s pretty interesting right that he’s played that amount of games I didn’t realize a $4.9 million a I know oh they’ve already started discussions for next season for an extension coming up next WTF Sam off is the starter Samson off’s going to get a four going to get that $8 million bag for for two years next year Samson off’s the man we’re he has the same record if he has the same record that he had this past season uh he’s gonna ask for a they had the controversial draft pick variety of reasons WTF you know we usually look forward to development Camp the end cannot come soon enough on Saturday because vgk I don’t think’s put a lot of effort into it either and the fans are you interested in development Camp crying out loud and we always look forward to this to see all the stars of the future and Brandon bran in year number seven of the development league the development Camp is okay it’s fun you want to you know get your hockey excitement out and see some players wearing the vgk crest in you know early July it’s kind of cool for that and you look at I think you need to understand the big picture and if you track some of these players like a Joe Fleming or um a few of the other players like cord who you know did finally make it up to the AHL last year you see where they were a little while back so from that perspective it’s kind of cool but you know who’s not here my favorite player from last year’s Camp Jackson halum uh he was fast right yes he outs skated himself of course he was a little bit Reckless and guess what at Michigan this year blew out his knee and uh unable to play in the Frozen four and yeah still recovering and I hope that his future you know is back on track because that was my favorite out there last year I don’t even know go ahead so sorry what’s your W no no no you’re good you’re good I’m with you on that and I mean that’s where I was basically saying it’s the culture in Vegas is f those picks and you know the the prospects get traded and you know pretty soon it’s bran for Trevor zus okay you have any wtfs oh God yeah why any wtfs on this week no I mean I’m just GNA regur regurgitate what I’ve been saying all week and Kelly McMan picked a heck of a time to put his foot down when it comes to term and Deals especially when you’re talking about a Jonathan March or so who leads so many offensive alltime scoring categories for the go by by a heck of a Time do you mean heading into the softball game the charity softball Yeah by heading into the softball game yeah there’s a lot of questions about the softball team now yeah it’s completed that roster it’s it’s a heck of a time for McMan just to say you know what we really got to be careful with these contracts that we’re given out it could really you know we’re talking about in the fourth and fifth years of the potential deal that marville could have had in Vegas the salary cap of $100 million marches so’s marches so’s salary would have been absolutely buried and you know what if you got to pay a little more now to win and you pay for it later that’s also the nature of the Beast right now that’s just how the NHL is and three years from now we don’t know what type of Stanley Cup window this team is going to have the window is now and the and the window might have just been shut and again we’ve talked about this all week but Tomas hurdle the enemy the enemy from the San Jose Sharks the enemy someone this city has Lov to hate for the last you know seven seasons is going to be here until Age 3 6 or 37 okay fine and he didn’t look that good last year injuries maybe he’ll look better this year but again and then noi Hanan I can’t get my I can’t ever forget mccm making that comment about we’re not going to negotiate an extension with a player during a during a playoff chase after the trade deadline that makes no sense Noah hanen here’s your here’s your 7.35 aav for the next uh Seven Seasons good luck in Vegas really looking forward to having you oh by the way Shay Theo or you’re off the power you’re off the top power play unit you’re just going to be thrown aside and like yesterday’s news so WTF for mccm for all of that and having the golden lights in the situation that they’re in right now which it’s not dire but it’s also nowhere near where it was heading into the last two off Seasons yeah you get an eight-year extension you get an eight-year extension I’ll take an I’m surprised they didn’t uh they didn’t give him an extension some sort that was the worst you know what we don’t talk about how bad that was because Cassidy absolutely said what is this guy doing here okay your guy mccrimon um I still cannot get over Kelly McMan WTF uh felt you know that he was talking down to the fan base earlier this this week saying the fans don’t know the players idiotic it’s like no it’s a WTF for sure ID oh we didn’t trade those players we didn’t trade them we made quote Fair reasonable offers yeah was $900,000 player for sure you would have to you would have to have some discussions with their Camp right to make offers and he said that he only spoke to Mar so get over it Kelly mcy brows WTF what I will say is listen I Gotta Give it both way over today but who cares I don’t care yesterday’s day off I I do want to try and have a fair and balanced approach to McMan so many times I have defended McMan in the last you know three or four years on this show you got it poster in that room somewhere the hashtag mcml plans so you have a bust of Kelly McMan there in the that sounds really dirty Tony sounds really dirty I’m I’m very uncomfortable right now um but listen McMan has been right many many many many many more times than he’s been wrong there’s been some whiffs along the way going all the way back to toar which was MC but McMan was involved in all of that and then obviously manth the last season and a few things in between don’t forget about yeah so MC’s been right many many many many more times than he’s been wrong um is that going to be the case with the March so situation we’re not going to know in six months we’re not going to know in a year we’re not going to know for two or three years unless the golden light’s incredibly falter um but one thing I will say I was going up back with somebody and I forgot who it was so I’m sorry I can’t quote you on this one um but they said if the gold Knights make the playoffs next season then it was the right move to get rid of Jonathan maroso and no that’s definitely not the accurate way to look at this this is a Stanley Cup contending team if in with its window of eel and marcheso and petrangelo and Noah Hanahan now and go on and on and on for about the core of this team William Carlson Tony’s favorite if this team is not getting to the conference final this year and next year and the year after that it’s a failed season it’s a failure of a season if they win one round and lose okay fine I can eat that one too but this is not a team that should limp into the play and call that successful WTF go okay the way that this roster is constructed currently this can’t be better than a second or third place team in the division second place that’s that would be huge Tony I think you’re I think you’re way I think you’re way reach in there um is this better than the season one roster on paper I don’t know I don’t I don’t think we’re gonna go that far bester what I will say is so many things need I was was texting with someone I’m going to read my text here I can tell you who I was texting it with but I will read this text message that I sent so there’s a lot of ifs a lot of ifs coming a lot of ifs a lot of ifs okay if dorf of breaks outs if Holt breaks outs if bran becomes an everyday contributor if Aiden makes 50 starts he won’t if Samy samsonoff isn’t a Civ if olivon resurrects his career if Cassidy doesn’t beat the young guys down if all of those things work out this will be a decent team that’s a lot of ifs there’s too many ifs WTF okay we’ve got uh you know what we’re way over so let’s just I want to get all these comments in uh KN 0000 golden one says WTF so with Vegas spending so little at the free agency does this mean Vegas is likely to make a big trade sometime this
