RamView:7/3/24 (LA Rams Football)
hey here we go guys we’re late and it’s on this is Ram it’s there [Music] blow live from the ram cave I’m Joe ter roian and this is Ram view the July the 3 20 24 Edition brought to you by Kissler Law Firm injured in an auto accident need help got questions call Kissler law at 661 20669 n0 that’s kler law at 661 20669 and check out kler lawfirm.com that’s one word kler lawfirm.com kler law they’ve been fighting for you since 92 and by Temple City Auto Repair having some a issues get yourself some John and Henry at Temple City autor repair.com and of course by Granite Ridge Christian Camp a place where your life can change and uh it is a hot day in the ram cave you’re going to hear some background noise because today I just didn’t turn off my fan I didn’t turn off my air conditioner and I’m very well lit because I got the door to the ram cave open right now because I decided I didn’t want to lose 10 pounds for the next hour uh as we’re uh talking some football and talking Sports so so it is going to sound a little bit different if it’s really bothersome guys let me know I’ll do the unprofessional thing and I’ll get up and I’ll turn them off if not let’s plow through on the day before the Fourth of July this is H what is it the hund and uh what is it the 161st anniversary of picket charge uh you know we wouldn’t be talking football folks if the South won I don’t think we’d be talking football if the South won there you go so here we go guys uh just looking at some random stuff going on uh saw the DeMarco far interview with Stephen Jackson we’ll get to that of course there’s all the stuff going on with the Lakers looked around the NFL not a whole lot stuff cam ACR has a shot to get back in the game so we’re happy for him and uh and then we’re going to look at some Ram history a little bit talk about a guy named Grant wistrom and uh Grant wistrom is like the Joe peperone of the Rams right it’s like it’s like you the the the dream for Yankee fans that Joe pepeton was going to be the next mantle the next demaggio the next something and he was just Joe pepeton right I think he brought a hair dryer into the locker room and and that was his uh his uh his place of greatness and Grant westram was that guy that I think the Rams thought hey we’ve got our next Jack Youngblood so here we go guys you can low lower your questions in there uh in the box when you get them if the sound is hard I can go and shut things down uh but uh I want to wait until you guys complain so if you complain I’ll do it okay looking at Ram stuff I was just seeing stuff that was posted uh and this is a good one this is a perfect example PFF rankings and some people are like up in arms about it PFF Pro Football Focus which is relatively a pretty good site I have a subscription there uh ranks the Rams offensive line number 16 in the NFL number 16 right again I like PFF but we know this is ridiculous and so the truth of the matter is don’t give them what they want what PFF wants is your rage they want you talking about them they want all this because you know it’s a ridiculous thing right what we do know about this Rams offensive line is that other than not having a kicker the reason the Rams didn’t win in Detroit last January uh and the reason they weren’t in the NFC title game was because they didn’t have an elite Edge coming off the line of scrimmage right they didn’t have that kicker they just needed that one extra thing and we know it wasn’t the offensive Line’s fault we know this and now the offensive line is even better they’re just trying to trap people into that whole rage business because if it’s slow for for us it’s slow for them and so that’s that’s another aspect of 10 big lists and let’s snub somebody let’s rank them lower so we can still keep hitting our analytics and getting the clip believe me I’ve thought about it right 10 worst moments in Ram history my 10 favorite moments in Ram history I’ve thought about these things these are fun things to talk about but i’ I’d much rather do them at a time when I seem less desperate saw the DeMarco far interview of Stephen Jackson and uh I will always be on the Stephen Jackson hype train uh dude deserves to be in the Hall of Fame he should be in the Hall of Fame uh and and with with Stephen Jackson it’s just what if the Rams just had somebody around him right what if right what if Shawn McVey was Stephen Jackson’s head coach oh just just a killer right and I really loved his perspective on the Hall of Fame uh where he said yeah I don’t I don’t want to get on that roller coaster of up and down because he says he saw what Isaac Bruce and others have gone through and uh so he just has a good attitude if it happens it happens and I loved it when he said I’d like for it to happen while my parents are still here because that speech would be all about my parents and I thought that was a brilliant brilliant answer that it should be all about his parents and he talked about all the times they drove in places and everything so yeah you know if he’s not there already Steve Stephen Jackson should be in the Hall of Fame if the Rams actually got rid of their tenants the Chargers they should have a Ring of Honor and Stephen Jackson should be in it and you know what for a guy that rushed for 10,000 yards uh and did that over the course of his career with some of the worst teams in NFL history Stephen Jackson should have a statue right alongside Todd Gurley and Marshall Faulk and Eric Dickerson uh outside of Sofi and let’s not short Change uh McCutchen right and you might want to stick in bass and Tyler wle Tyler in there but anyway really loved Stephen Jackson’s perspective there again guys I’m not seeing any notes because I’m feeling bad about it the ambient noise in the background I got my fans in air conditioner going because I don’t want to be uh a thousand degre right uh in here around the NFL and other places uh let’s look at a couple things first uh the Vikings resigned cam Acres so he has a shot again to make it in this league uh I’m not bitter towards Acres but uh I’m glad the Rams don’t have him anymore so they moved off of him and uh you hope it when his career ends it’s by choice uh but not by all these catastrophic injuries that he’s had and then I was just looking at other things about free agents for next year because we’re gonna talk a little bit about who would the Rams trade for and we’ll look at that in the back half of the show uh Vikings uh not the Vikings I’m sorry the the 49ers did you know that cornerback uh uh deodor Lenor and uh Tonia Tano I I don’t even pronounce these guys now hanga who had the knee injury Lenor and hanga they’re both in the last years of their contract yeah and they’re pretty special people on that 49er defense right and uh they’re about to give Brandon auk a bunch of money and uh yeah Trent Williams is getting old McCaffrey’s got mileage and uh yeah the fact that they could lose these guys the fact that these guys they could lose one of them maybe they could lose both of them uh we got to see how hanga comes back from his uh knee injury uh yeah those are the reasons why I think the 49ers are going to take a step back this year and I think we’ve seen the peak of their run right because we know KD is old we know Deo has mileage and they haven’t gotten to the point where they’re going to pay Brock prie yet and so yeah there’s stuff going on uh howdy howdy Bubba Ram fan from uh Tam Sadam okay all right I Sam thanks for joining us Sam Ansley I appreciate it appreciate your thoughts okay let’s look at some other stuff here um I want to get to something here at least with the NFC in the first half of the show and the back half of the show uh I wanted to talk about what are your first thoughts when uh you think of certain teams in the NFL there’s my desperate Dead period material what are your first thoughts when you think of teams in the NFL Rams on demand there we go okay Samuel lley thank thank you for joining us I don’t think we’ve interacted before uh Rams on demand there we go um but you know every team in the NFL brings a thought that first comes to you right uh Cowboys when I hear their name I think hatred right my my my my my my blood runs cold and I just don’t like the Cowboys right uh Steve Ramirez it was 107 here in Hisperia today okay so you understand my need to have my amenities here in the ram cave thank you so much Steve uh but first thing you think of when you think of some of these teams when they come to mind right and I’m gonna do the NFC here and then on the back half of the show I’ll do the AFC but uh just to start off when you think of the 49ers what’s the first thing that comes to mind first thing that comes to mind is all things Montana uh Rams dominated the 49ers throughout the 70s you know I was heartbroken with the Steve mckam kick the 54 Y in 75 that broke the string but 1981 I Montana and I gotta tell you and I know this is gonna I hate the 49ers more now than I ever did in the 80s in the 80s I just couldn’t bring myself to hate them because they were so good and watching Montana play was was was was something that I get to say even uh I get older in life to say yeah I saw Montana play and those teams were great so I think of 1981 when I think of the 49ers and I think of the catch and I think that it came about by beating the 49 be beating the Cowboys so when I hear the 49ers that’s what I think about when I hear Seahawks I think 1979 and the Rams holding them to a minus seven yards of total offense during that Super Bowl season of 79 when I think of the Saints I first think that it always was a slog in New Orleans it was always you know whether it was two-lane Stadium or the Super Bowl the Rams either lost or they won and it wasn’t a pretty win right but actually my thought goes back to the to the late 80 game I think it was the 89 game 88 game in New Orleans where flipper had that monster game but what I remember I believe it was Dalton hilard tried to put a block on Kevin Green Hall of Famer Kevin green and uh green green just hurdled him just kind of pushed down and went right over the top and made the play and that’s what I think of when I think of the Saints uh Falcons I think of the Rams losing 1513 uh Nick MCM Steve mcm’s brother uh kicking five field goals beating the Rams after the Rams were up 10 nothing Cowboys Cowboys I think of being at the Coliseum 37 to7 uh and uh and so um so yeah I think of the 377 loss in the NFC title game because I was there it to to me that’s the moment it’s like uh when I’m that moment I’m I’m Luke Skywalker um I’m with in the presence of the emperor and he’s trying to get me to convert to the dark side and you know Luke is seeing all of uh his friends and the Rebel Alliance and the spaceships being blown up and the emperor saying good good I can feel your hate yeah that that’s me that’s me watching and thinking about that cowboy game in uh in 75 Redskins I think of George Allen 72 I loved George Allen the whole [ __ ] thing but it really goes down to the Hogs 1982 r go and Hail to the Redskins and sure enough they beat the Cowboys and so that’s where my memories come with the Redskins I’ll always sing Hail to the Redskins not a t Skins fan uh or a Comm commanders fan I’m a I’m a Redskins fan uh Eagles the playoff win over buddy Ryan’s team in 89 Clyde Simmons was talking trash and the Rams went into Philly and won that game you know that was a great one Giants yeah it’s easy to go flipper uh that one was was was pretty special but you know when I think of the Giants and Lawrence Taylor is easy too but I think of Otis Anderson in that Super Bowl against the bills and how they just kept that bills offense at Bay because they kept pounding the rock it was pretty cool Bears I Bears either way crappy quarterbacks that’s what I think about with the Bears I always got an image of Gary huff and Bob aini in my head when I see the Bears Vikings more than the mud bow I think of the title losses in Minnesota in 74 and 76 they were heartbreaking Packers my first thought goes to Fred Dryer uh and the two sacks that I didn’t see that I heard dick enberg call on kmpc back in 73 um ly dicki I was a huge Lin dicki fan ly dicki is probably the most snake bit quarterback in NFL history imagine imagine if Lyn dicki had gone to a franchise that knew what they were doing uh I think it could have been an entirely entirely different career I think I want to write an alternate history where ly dicki goes someplace else and becomes a superstar I think Lyn dicki was better than Dan pastorini I think a healthy Lyn dicki along with that uh that Packer that Oiler team the love you Blue teams I think they might have gotten by Pittsburgh one of those years and they wouldn’t have need a a good call on the Mike Renfro play to do it sorry got on soap box there I see your questions piling up guys I’ll be right there uh the Buccaneers first person I think of is John McKay and it really makes me run hot because all you hear about is the futility of the of the Buccaneers uh you know 1976 winless team losing their first 26 games in the NFL but you know what they don’t talk about is by McKay’s fourth season with no help because it was spansion team in those days he got the he got the Buccaneers to an NFC title game and didn’t even give up a touchdown against the Rams he won two division crowns and he made three playoff appearances in four years before his owner was it Culver house allowed Doug Williams to leave were a contract squabble and then he had to make do with Jack Thompson and a and a Bad cast that also included Steve deberg who I’m a Steve depar fan um but uh but yeah I’m a big fan of John McCay and I don’t think he gets enough love he did a really good job in an impossible situation there in Tampa Bay Lions I think of the Lions I think of the first game I ever saw 1969 Vikes and Lions playing in snow was also kind of a Greg Landry fan but they were the epitome of mediocre in the 70s growing up and they were the epitome of mediocre until they became the epitome of awful uh in the 2000s Panthers when I think of the Panthers I think of Mike Marts why would you think of Mike Marts it’s because of the playoff game right Rams get the touchdown they’re down 23 to 12 they get the touchdown with about less than 240 to play in the fourth quarter and uh Marshall fa scores Mark buer makes a great pass makes a great play throws to Dane looker to make it 2320 uh and then they get the onside Kickback right they get the onside kickb and uh and they come out right 20 yard they’re at their own 42 20 yard pass to Isaac Bruce you know 14 yard or 12 yard pass to Isaac Bruce six-yard pass to to um I believe it was uh uh Marshall Faulk Faulk runs and gets a first down at the 15 I’m probably butchering this a little bit they have a timeout left there’s 30 seconds left to play they’re in the RCA D they’re at the 15 they’ve got they’ve got the greatest offense still with uh Marshall Faulk is there they’ve still got Tory Holt they’ve still got Isaac Bruce they and they got Mark buer throwing strikes and with 15 minute with at the 15 yard line with 30 seconds to play Mike Marts lets the clock wind down and Jeff Wilkins takes him off the hook because he makes the field goal but that game didn’t have to go into overtime the Rams needed the play to win and of course in the second overtime Steve Smith did them in that’s what I think about when I think of the Panthers I don’t think of Jack dhol I don’t think of Julius Peppers uh I don’t think of any of I don’t think of Cam Newton very boring Super Bowl um you know people say Patriots Rams was a boring Super Bowl I’ll say Broncos Patriots was the worst okay uh I’m Jo rosan I was a sports writer for 21 years and now I do Ram view thanks to our sponsors at kler law and uh I write books my books are on um Amazon you can look them up um I write pretty much in two genres I write flip ball and then I kind of write Christian spec fiction so there’s my book sin virus think zombie apocalypse meets Christianity and then of course you’ve got uh tangent dreams which was my high school football novel which sold really really well got some really good reviews and uh buying those helps keep me on the air uh also it helps support me in my day job I Pastor a small Church in Burbank Burbank Faith NZ Zen and uh you can find us right here on YouTube on our Burbank Faith virtual Channel as well as Burbank Faith virtual.com Burbank Faith virtual on uh social media Facebook every place else and if you have any questions about that please let me know and uh and generally I have to answer for newbies sometimes they think a pastor shouldn’t say he hates the Cowboys guys we all keep it in context here we dislike the teams we dislike but we want the best for the individual right we understand let’s all keep it in context this is Sports all right let’s look at some questions here Steve Ramirez of course 107 in Hisperia brother Samuel Ansley my two favorite teams Rams and whoever plays the whiners okay there you go I was also thinking whoever plays the Cowboys right uh so I got three great team three teams I love the Rams whoever plays the 49ers and whoever’s playing the Cowboys there you go Manuel Korea what is up thank you Manny for clicking on uh Steve Ramirez from me back to you Steve Barbie Bryant yeah that is a nightmare right can’t get that one out of our head 76 playoffs opening drive going down there now Knox didn’t go full Mars on this one but he should have gone for it on fourth down the only thing I could think of was in the game that ended in a tie earlier that year in Minnesota um you know the Rams failed to make it on fourth down when they went for it inside the 10 I think it was at that end of The End Zone uh but uh but that was a heartbreaker and then it gets blocked and Bobby Bryant yeah my image of seeing poor Tom Dempsey with the effort of trying to track down we know what Tom Dempsey was right everyone knows who Tom Dempsey was trying to track down Bobby Bryant a cornerback uh yeah Bobby Bryant man Vikings should have him in their Hall of Famer retire his number Tim Burns still can’t figure out why March just tanked from the greatest show on Turf to nothing you know you know you know sometimes when you’re when you’re you’re too smart you’re too smart and when you think you’re too smart you can’t hear anybody else talk um remember I I like buer I’m the first guy that’s GNA say I love Mark buer but CT Warner is a Hall of Fame quarterback he couldn’t figure out what he needed to do to make things right for Kurt Warner um that’s a tough one right I think he just had his mindset and then his offense man he was always in you know that five receiver five five people out in the pattern set those quarterbacks were left hanging out to dry an awful lot in his system and buer took a beating and then he took a beating more under ly and Spagnola and all that although did he play for Spagnola maybe he played for Haslet I don’t know if he played for Spagnola uh but anyway we know on what happened there so yeah but but it was so funny you know Mars is supposed to be this Riverboat Gambler in fact if you watch America’s game they show early on where Kurt Warner they’re gonna have the Rams are going to go for it they’re goingon to throw a pass inside their 10 early in the season and you hear dick ver on the radio saying oh Michael I don’t know that’s kind of risky right so you hear you got those r Bo Gambler mentality of Mike Marts and then he refuses first in down first down at his at at the panther 15 they’re in the RCA Dome they got 30 seconds or more left to play and a timeout and he lets the clock run down to six five six seconds to kick a game time field goal that’s probably why it never happened for Mike Mars again I always talk about doing a breakdown on Mike Mars but but that that kind of brings it back Tim Burns Tory Holt was my dude over Bruce just a quiet 93 receptions 1300 yards s TDS just going to work who’s the number one there isn’t that funny you look at I think of Holton Bruce I don’t think of one being a number one right just guys that got open just guys that got open Tim Burns I Wish Tony horn had uh a kid we need special team stud you know my friend Dwayne Barker was still at Mid Valley Sports you know we always used to talk about Tony horn that Tony Horn’s blazing fast right but he’s behind not only two Hall of Famers in Holt and uh or future Hall of Famer in Holt Hall of Famer and Bruce he’s behind ozem and Ricky PRL you know your fourth receiver Ricky pwl that that that’s that’s amazing and uh Tony horn never stood a chance right he never stood a chance okay uh Steve Ramirez Mars also wasted timeouts and challenges yeah yeah and again like I said I keep talking about doing a review of Mike Marts and probably this time of year because we got what another 20 days until Camp opens I probably should do it okay so uh pressing on guys you guys keep tossing questions up there it’d be awesome I love interacting with you guys I appreciate you guys being here all the time I appreciate you being here um uh when there’s nothing to talk about you know when there’s not a lot going on I I will come back and say there’s always something to talk about like we’ve talked about right now but there’s not always breaking news there’s not always games but I appreciate you folks um uh you know feeding my ego just a little bit by coming on and joining us here um you know injuries are going to dictate any moves the Rams make between now and the trade deadline and unlike the Lakers the Rams do have some space under their cap because they just didn’t give a max deal to a 40 year old uh player right uh we’ll get to that but uh but um but injuries are going to determine what moves they make they got draft Capital they got a little space so it’ll be interesting to see what the Rams do between now and uh the trade deadline uh later this fall but I think the important thing to do is to keep your eyes on players that are scheduled to be free agents in 2025 that are playing on teams that might have a questionable season right so you just kind of go through here like last year the Rams really needed that extra pass rusher and they that was to me was the difference of them between them going beating Detroit and going to the and ultimately up to the NFC title game and I think if the Rams had made it to the NFC title game with the way Frisco played in the postseason right uh they were fortunate enough they had a young Packer team and a young lion team that collapsed on them late that allowed the 49ers to come in those collapses that happened with young quarterbacks and and young teams that wouldn’t have happened with uh McVey and Stafford I think the Rams maybe the hand injury to Kiron would have played an issue there but the Rams would have given them a game Rams could have slipped into the Super Bowl anyway whatever I say that so Rams invested a lot on the edge and so it’s not a question uh so it’s not a question of uh what their needs are right now but what the needs will be and the one that kind of um sticks with me is I think the Rams believe it or not could end up being a little thin at wide receiver and you’re thinking how can you say that right people like Jordan Whittington you still got Tut two on the bench you know you you got you know Demarcus Robinson puka Coupe you got all those guys but again I go back to style play with ncua age on cup and there could be a little bang bang week three week four boom and these guys get hurt separated shoulders something and then next thing you know it’s D and uh Winnington and uh Atwell as you’re starting wide receivers and 11 personnel and so I started thinking who are the receivers that are available the Rams might make a move for if somebody got hurt well CD lamb Brandon auk uh they have inflated opinions of themselves uh no no one’s going to make that move 49ers aren’t going to D you they’ll probably all have contracts too by the time the deadline comes around T Higgins of the Bengals that that’s a long shot um Hollywood Brown Kansas City he’s found gold to go to Kansas City Amari Cooper Cleveland too much money I don’t know if I want him at this point Keenan Allen would be interesting you know but the Bears where the Bears G to be you know chasing a ring at the end uh Mike Williams with the Jets to injury PR two names that I thought if these teams aren’t contending and it’s just not working out for them uh is Chris Godwin in Tampa Bay and Stefan Diggs just for a just for a cup of coffee they could go back into the free agent Market you know Rams could get a get a get a um comp a compensatory pick for them but Chris Godwin Stefan Diggs would be guys I just want to watch play and and keep an eye on if the Rams have injuries uh offensive line feels scary because if Jackson goes down it will be Noteboom which I’m not totally against that but it’s tough to see the Rams making a move on a pending free agent except if things go south for the Jets would the Jets be willing to deal Tyron Smith if the Rams are making a run would the Jets be willing to make a move on someone like Morgan Moses because all these guys are rentals because they think they’re in a Super Bowl window they better be with Aaron roders but let’s just say everything goes to pot in New York with the Jets would some of these guys be available if the Rams had an injury the another place that scares me that you know because without Donald you got some young guys in there you’re hoping Bobby Brown stays healthy you’re hoping Bobby Brown has a breakout year you don’t know if Tyler Davis is ready uh is defensive tackle the interior and these are some of the guys that are going to be free agents Alene mcneel Detroit Detroit’s not giving up they’re contenders this year Kenny Clark Green Bay they’re not giving him up cam Hayward Steelers aren’t giving him up and he’s at the end of the line anyway uh and so there’s names here that BJ Hill with the Bengals all these guys all these guys are are playing for contenders but two names DJ Jones in in Denver and and um Javon kinlaw with the Jets those be some names that I would keep an eye on if if the Rams have injury problems uh I I don’t see them making a big trade you know maybe signing a free agent adds some death at the cornerback room depending on on Trey white but just stuff to think about look at those who’s going to be a free agent next year and see where their teams are at and then see if there’s a a you know what the Rams needs are in October and see if they make a deal or if something bad you know knock on for Micah happens in Camp um let’s see here let’s look guys I see the questions building up here I promise I’ll come right back to you thanks for joining us Richard Ramos uh let’s see what we got here oh my thoughts about teams in the AFC when their name pops up right uh when I hear Dolphins I’m thinking zanka kick Warfield Mercury Morris greasy and three Super Bowl appearances in a row that’s what I’m they were the gold standard when I got fully invested in football I’m thinking of them as a dynasty still to this day when I think about the bills I don’t think of the kgun I don’t think of Jim Kelly I don’t think of Andre Reed Andre Reid ahead of Tory Holton in the in the Hall of Fame anyway whatever uh but when I think of the bills I still think OJ I think 1973 I think 2003 yards and I think the electric company right was it Donnie green Joe damur Mike montler Reggie McKenzie uh I think those guys um and that’s what’s in my head so that’s what I think with the bills Colts I think uh Bert Jones and Ted March abroa and that that Baltimore Resurgence from 75 through 77 just unfortunately it had to happen under Papa ERS and it had to happen when the Steelers were in their and Raiders were in their Prime but uh those Colts teams they were really good teams and Bert Jones was a great quarterback Jets Joan Amoth of course right and how sad is that but I also think of the the 81 uh Jets uh with Walt Michaels and that team made a second half run to get to the playoffs and unfortunately they made a comeback against the bills in that game in 81 and they lost but I remember rooting for that team you know the whole in Todd We Trust I was rooting for them in Miami in the NF AFC title game in 82 but it’s still a jet game nameth nameth brand there with the Jets Patriots um forget about the Super Bowls against the Rams when I think of the Patriots I think how they got shafted in the 76 playoffs against Oakland I do think about that one Steelers I think a Super Bowl 14 and how they were ripe for the taking Bengals I think of the original orange helmet with just Bengals on it I think Ken Anderson Paul Brown Essex Johnson booby Clark and rookie Isaac Curtis 45 catches 10 touchdowns that rookie year Oilers I think back to back one in 13 Seasons but then I think as Sid Gilman has this team was one in seven I think in 74 and then Gilman got him six consecutive wins to end the season and they finished seven and seven and uh I Think They Carried him off the field after that Browns I do think of Brian Cy and that nice little run they had in his era there Broncos I was an Otis Armstrong fan and orange crush I wasn’t a fan but that was a nice run they had in 77 that surprised us Chargers believe it or not when I think of chargers I think of the mighty 690 and the old and hacksaw hacksaw Hamilton when they had the rights to the Charger games and of course it was Dean Spanos who went someplace other than Mighty 690 the mighty 690 the gold standard for Sports Talk in the Western United States and the Spanos family went someplace else other than that and uh instead of Hacksaw Hamilton calling the games they went to somebody else and what I remember about that was was show me your lightning bolt right and what I remember also was you were as informed on the chart Chargers better for a a station that you picked up from San Diego right than you were on any local sports talk with the Rams and uh it’s because Lee hacksaw Hamilton who I had a couple of moments with uh in the Press Box down in San Diego was cool dude uh because of his talent and that original Mighty 690 Hartman and chat forde the loose cannons even a young Jim Rome uh yeah there was Talent there and so when I think of chargers that’s what I think about those early years where I knew everything about the might 6 about the Chargers in those days John free Mark lassic who their backup quarterbacks were Al Saunders their head coach anyway let’s move on Jaguars uh my first thought about the Jaguars is Mark brunau and them upsetting the Broncos apple cart in Denver in 1996 that was a sweet victory Texans not much I’m a Brian Cushing fan not much he faded kind of like CJ strab Titans they have always bored me always can I say it again I think the ultimate indignity would have been if they had won that Super Bowl against the Rams Super Bowl 34 the Titans have always been boring to me sorry I don’t mean to offend people but that’s just where I’m at okay let’s see what we got here we do had some questions come in um it was a stone group my man and we’ll get to this day in Rams history in a second I just want to acknowledge a couple of uh want want to acknowledge a couple of things here let’s see uh Richard PR all right thank you so much for clicking on thank you for your RAM knowledge it’s a pleasure listening to you thank you bro oh thank you so much Richard I do appreciate that I appreciate your support man awesome thank you so much Steve Ramirez Mike Curtis clobbering the fan who ran on the fields hey that’s a good memory I saw that in NFL films of course but you remember when Curtis nails that guy that was woid he just kind of sits up and he’s got that drunken he must have felt it like two days later when he sobered up but I loved how C Curtis did that that’s an underrated guy in NFL history Mike Curtis in fact there was a while I thought he was a Hall of Famer and and maybe he should be but uh he he’s not a Hall of Famer and Mike Curtis that dude was mean that dude was that was bad dude right there let’s see uh Tim Burns okay I got a com I got a comment here about the Lakers in a second Tim Burns and I promise I’ll get to that Tim Burns was Joe toosan a clone oh help me with that oh are you talking back to the Star Wars reference no I I wasn’t a clone I I I I’m just someone who wants who crosses to the dark side when it comes to the Cowboys let’s see USA expat great thank you for joining us Chargers Fouts ERA with that offensive attack right and everyone forgets that West Chandler was a late addition to that right that was the John Jefferson deal where where you know he was kind of he had 78 through 80 he’s one of the greatest receivers in football and then he goes to the to the Packers and matches up alongside J Jim LOF James Lofton and you don’t hear much about J after that I think he lost his wheels but he had great hands that guy was gone from the NFL from the spotlight after he left San Diego and uh but uh but yeah those uh those teams were great I love the scene on NFL films where uh where um FS comes to the sideline drinks the cup of water and uh and they’re talking about what play to run and F says give me Wes and uh he drinks another sip they’re all talk goes give me Wes goes can I have Wes please and he wants uh he wants Wes Chandler another underrated guy in NFL history um is Wes Chandler um Richard Ramos that’s like watching almost the AFC games boring uh maybe not I don’t know I like some of them but uh I know what you mean uh Bill chiming in here have a happy Fourth of July you too thank you so much oh okay Tim Burns got in there thank you Bill I appreciate that you have a great fourth too Tim Burns Jim Rome oh no I was not a clone I was not in fact I thought I I thought it was too much stick even then in the 90s when I was younger you know it was just too much stick but what you did notice about Rome was he could talk anything and you know he had the late night gig at first and then of course he went National you know you know uh pretty big- time self self-promoter which you have to be uh and everything but he could talk anything you know he’ talk Puck and everything and he’d always say let’s talk Puck then he’ give away the cotton at the end of the day I thought the smack offs just became ridiculous so no I would not say I was a Jim Rome clone uh but I’m not GNA say I didn’t listen to him uh Bill do you think the 76ers are contenders now oh I’ll get to that real quick here Tim Burns Chargers will never win with Spanos involved I agree I totally agree uh they’re a curse man they’re a curse uh and and such I think the closest I’ve ever felt heartbreak for the Chargers was uh is it McCree gets the pick he has the he has the the Patriots are just done and then he fumbles the ball and all I could think of was poor Marty poor Marty Marty Marty what happened okay this eight Rams history not a whole lot of stuff here let’s look at that and then we’re g to talk a little of basketball guys I promise uh Bill and Tim Burns I will touch base on a little bit of basketball all right uh let’s see not much born on this day in 19 76 Grant wistrom was sign was uh was was born Grant wistrom was a defensive end out of Nebraska Rand drafted him sixth overall in 1998 he played six seasons for the team at 41 sacks was in double digits in 2000 and westram was good but westram was this guy again jack young blood then Bill Hawkins is gonna be the next Jack young blood and then it was gonna be westram and wistrom of all the young blood Replacements was probably the best one uh but he only lasted six seasons left to a free agent after 2003 went to Seattle played there three years got to a third Super Bowl uh playing with Seattle and then called it a career so good for him uh but but he was just one of those guys you know that I thought he was hyped up just a little too much and of course the Rams drafted Adam carer you know we know all that stuff trying to replace Jack youngl for years and uh and stuff but yeah today Grant wistrom turns 48 also born on this day in 1973 former Ram safety Devin Bush uh Devon Bush was a was a safety for the Rams in 1999 and 2000 he did have a pick six return uh so God bless Devin Bush he turns what 53 no I’m sorry 51 today there we go and then tomorrow um former Ram defensive tackle looy Glover remember Leroy Glover he got there late he got there after the party was over he was out of San Diego State he had played in New Orleans played in Dallas a little bit I think had had some good Seasons uh there but came to the Rams late he turns he turns uh what is it uh 50 today he turns 50 he’s made a name for himself in the NFL I think he’s been coaching and scouting since then but not a whole lot there uh let’s look at this real quick let me look at last questions before I move on to basketball um let’s see here Tim Burns charges will never win span is involved USA expat lastly get the Chargers out of Sofi I agree I agree get the Chargers out of Sofi okay couple of basketball questions here let’s look at bills do you think the 76ers are contenders now you know when the Clippers did that whole thing bringing in uh Paul George to play with Kawai I drank some Kool-Aid you know maybe because I had become anti- Laker but I drank the Kool-Aid and uh Paul George plays more than Kawai but he doesn’t play that much more and and you know you got Tyrus Maxi uh and you’ve got embiid and I think you know I think embiid is near do well right embiid is not going to get you over the top and I don’t think Paul George is good enough do you think I mean we saw it I think even a healthy embiid a healthy George and a healthy Maxi are not GNA knock off um you know Jaylen Brown uh Jason Tatum and uh and Derek white and and honestly I’m not even a Jason Tatum fan uh I’m a Jaylen Brown fan I think he’s more of a killer I think everything needs to go right for uh Jason Tatum but Philly I don’t I don’t know I I don’t think so I I just don’t and and you know I keep a I keep a I don’t keep a drilled eye on the league but I do follow the league just to see um just to see what’s there uh let’s see here uh Tim Burns Lakers are simps for the for a guy who will be gone in three years three years of him playing GM he has been GM the last four seasons and the results in those years seventh 7th 11th and seventh uh yeah I agree on the LeBron thing um and my thoughts that I I kind of skipped over because we ended up talking a little more football and I’m glad we did um I had I had some notes here that I made I thought it was interesting that um you know bronny uh got a I believe they call it a one-way contract I’ll take correction guys I’ll take correction which means he’s not gonna go to the G league right he got a one-way contract and a pretty nice contract for a guy in the second round and then LeBron who we knew it was false when he said he would take less right uh he re-ups with the Lakers for two years 140 104 rocks and uh and so what’s that supposed to mean right the Lakers haven’t added anybody to this team Dallas connect the guy they drafted the rookie but they haven’t added anybody to this team and it’s like what are you gonna do and now LeBron has gobbled all the money in the room he’s Gob all the money in the room and then you have this thing here where this week the Lakers want us to believe that LeBron James never spoke to his BR podcast partner JJ reck about becoming the team’s HC honestly do you believe that and also they want us to believe what bronny said that he never thought about playing with his father I mean literally they think you’re stupid they think you’re dumb and JJ retic you know maybe he turns out to be a good coach he’s just oh you know what’s the word we would call JJ reic and I never had this opinion about him as a player but the Duke guy the the privileged dude kind of right I don’t know his background maybe he wasn’t privileg maybe he worked his butt he obviously worked his butt off to be in the NBA but to say that LeBron never spoke to him and then to step in today or was it yesterday and say Brony deserves to be here uh that you have to defend any player tells me I don’t know reck’s a bit of a douchebag right I’m not taking away anything from him I’ll be a good guy but in these matters what a douchebag I I just I do you have any personal Pride right and then my last thought was jeie bus just sign the organization over to LeBron just give him control you know make him Coach GM and everything because as long as she plays owner and that’s all she’s doing right she’s just plain owner uh she’s going to take all the shots right everyone’s GNA come after her because she’s letting LeBron run the team LeBron is carefully crafted in such a ways that by not being declared the player coach which he is um you know he’s gonna get JJ reic fired in two years or JJ reck will take the heat right he set it up in such a way that that jeie is still the boss and pinka is still technically there they’re going to take all the heat for not building around LeBron uh and then he has his son there what a disaster what an absolute unmitigated disaster the Lakers are now I know my friend Steve Ramirez has a little thing for jeie and I don’t want to upset that relationship they have but um but no I don’t count the 2020 the 2020 Championship as a championship you shouldn’t even hang that Banner that feels like a that mid-season tournament Banner that’s what it feels like that was a summer league tournament after what four months off four months off and it’s like it doesn’t mean anything it doesn’t amount to anything I I I think it was weak SE weak cheese to put it there with all the other titles right and uh so no LeBron hasn’t done anything and uh Mr Burns pointed it out seventh seventh 11th and seventh in the in the conference you know again they stay relatively healthy with LeBron and AD they’re always going to be in that spot where they’re a bubble team in terms of playing or actually making the the the playoffs at the end of the regular season or they’re going to go to a playin that’s what they’re always going to be you really think they’re going to get better as they get older you know and then they didn’t do anything to improve this team sorry you know you know if I’m wrong right if I’m wrong okay but uh you know it’s not going to happen but if this team went 0 and 82 no team would ever richly deserve to go 0 and 82 no one you know my personal feeling is jeie put the team up for sale put the team up for sale get it out of the bus family name get out while you still got something to hold on to in the past and let some Corporation buy you out because this is preposterous it really is anyway there we go here we go some thoughts here USA exp you get uh Tim Burns thanks for letting us ask questions no I enjoy it man especially this time of year questions are always great and then you get to interact with people Richard Ramos I agree 100% get the Chargers out of a Sofi there’s only one team in La now yeah the Chargers will never be LA’s team never uhuh not not going to uh Harbaugh would have to stay here 15 years and have a bellich like run and the Rams would have to take a tumble for that to happen I think the Clippers with that new stadium and balmer’s aggressiveness um have a better chance of supplanting the Lakers as LA’s team than uh than the Chargers ever have of um of supplanting the Rams so my thoughts there Richard Ramos this is disheartening as a Laker fan the right hand doesn’t see what the left hand does yeah uh Richard Ramos sounds like Genie bus was in the locker room with LeBron maybe I don’t know some special dealings are going on the side it’s horrible yeah I mean okay so we don’t even have to be Geniuses to figure this out right we we don’t have to be genius it just it’s a bad look all the way across the board and you know I’m not even a the NBA basketball is so bad it drove me away two decades ago it’s just a horrible product and the fact that it’s called basketball and the fact that you got the kbm calling it good basketball is horrible it’s just it’s just horrible basketball now the players are individually they’re more skilled than they’ve ever been before I’ll grant that but they don’t know how to play basketball they just don’t uh and uh sorry and I’ll say this all things being equal crunch time LeBron couldn’t carry Magic Johnson’s jockstrap just couldn’t do it sorry he’s not a killer um he’s always looking for protection and uh great career you know one of those longevity guys an accumulator but I just don’t see him as goat not anywhere near it I just don’t sorry there we go all right Steve Ramirez I’ve always disliked the Chargers but hard for me to root against Harbaugh hey I agree with you Steve Harbaugh makes them interesting Harbaugh really makes them interesting and uh and and stuff yeah I I totally agree with that you know I totally agree with that all right I think we got stuff in I used all of my stuff here does anyone else have anything they want to add hey uh let me ask Steve Ramirez do you know who Dennis uh Dennis dumit is because the ram signed Dennis dumit uh uh on this day in uh 1971 Free Agent Dennis dumit do you know who that is Steve Ramirez okay let’s see we H the 46 minute mark thank you for driving in and hanging out with me uh also just be sure to hit like sub subscribe all those things uh your comments are great your shares if you share it with others uh it’s great uh as we just keep plugging away yeah there we go Doom it former UCLA quarterback I knew you would know Ram signed him as a free agent on this day in 1971 uh I’m guessing were they converting him to something else uh kind of interesting I love love to hear some of your thoughts on backstory there uh thank you Steve I knew I would score on that one good job Steve okay I think we’re good I’m H willing to hang out for another minute or so if you guys got something I like to get close to 50 minutes uh maybe another 30 seconds unless somebody has something they want to add um looking forward to Camp uh this week isn’t quite normal without Ram view thank you so much hey Tim I hope your leg is doing better hope you’re doing well uh uh Steve Ramirez was my first UCLA favorite oh Dennis Doom okay there you go uh I always thought it was Norman da I thought that was your guy the guy that replaced bben uh there you go you know who I think is an underrated UCLA quarterback this is so Random right now Jeff dankworth Jeff dankworth man he had a great run until he ran into USC uh in 76 Jeff dankworth was a was a was a guy that waited his turn behind Shara and uh and no one remembers Jeff dankworth there we go uh Richard Ramirez Richard Ramos laugh out loud okay guys um Tim Burns thank you for your encouragement we will be back on Friday have a great Fourth of July uh I I say this to my church I say this to people you can love your country and you can pray for your country and whatever people describe as a Christian nationalist These Days forget about it you could love your country you could be grateful for your country country and you can pray for your country there there’s the soap boxy stuff uh that I have Tim Burns Cade mcnown hey Kade mcnown was really good at UCLA and I have to say I was rooting my butt off for them against Miami I wanted to see Bob Toledo uh get that Natty back in what 98 so there we go okay guys thank you so much for clicking on uh we are at the 49 minute and 30 second Mark so I think we’re good uh have a great day tomorrow stay safe and don’t do the Jason Paul Pierre don’t try to light fireworks in your hands that’s that’s not a good
